I think it's because I and a lot of other like-minded folks who at one time very much enjoyed Koontz' fiction *and* have the interest in -- and no qualms about paying premium dollars for --...
If push came to shove, I think LIGHTNING and VOICE OF THE NIGHT would be my two favorite Koontz works. I may have enjoyed a few of his books as much, but none are as memorable.
One of my favorite books of Koontz' is VOICE OF THE NIGHT, released under his Brian Coffey pseudonym.
THE DOOR TO DECEMBER, as by Richard Paige, is also fairly good.

I don't read him anymore, but still have a great deal of fondness for his LIGHTNING and those titles that came before. I have his Dark Harvest HCs and a few other early and pseudonymous titles.
