It's really that good? Another thing that puts me off is how many children enjoy it, and the fact that it's labeled a "teen" book. I usually end up destroying or throwing away "teen" books after I...
Just throwing this out there, but I hated the seventh book in the Harry Potter series aside from the last third or so. Before that, I just found it boring. Every other second of every other book,...
It's five books long, actually. Only the first one is titled HHGttG. And yes, they are science fiction which is basically fantasy. Just futuristic fantasy
Hmm, I hear Hitchhiker's is worth a read-through, but I refuse to touch it simply because of the hype.
I second Lord of the Rings. It is probably the best, most consistent series I have ever read.
See, that's what I thought at first, too. But I see them as a Jake/Roland in another loop, if indeed Jake shows up in consecutive loops. Just a thought.
I loved Trashy. I think that's why the thought of shortening the book gets on my nerves so much; Trashcan Man's story would have been scarred, as King himself puts it.
Frannie burying her father...
I absolutely loved it! I read the unabridged version, and I couldn't imagine how omitting any of it for the sake of "length" could help. The characters were brilliantly filled out, and their...
I finished The Stand a few days ago, and now I'm starting Story of the Eye by Georges Bataille.
I don't know about that; I thought that The Omega Man was done fairly well, considering they changed around the plot a bit.
I can't get enough of Richard Matheson. My favorite collection of his is Duel while my favorite novel is (quite obviously) I Am Legend. I can't believe they messed up the Will Smith version so...
How is Tabitha's writing? I haven't read anything by her yet.
Why would anyone read a shorter version of a book? I wouldn't be able to sit through an abridged book knowing that I was missing out on what the author wanted to tell me.
I really need to get my first read of that started...
The book seems interesting, but I have a very hard time picking up a book that is geared towards "teenagers." It seems that when an author is trying to designate a teenage audience they tend to leave...
You have to love Tolkien :onfire:
haha I figured it wasn't your first, but the way you said it made me not quite sure. I should have known better than to question your love for all things King, Brice. I cry your pardon, Bookslinger...
Is this your first read of it?
I have not had a chance to read Dandelion Wine. It is set in Green Town, Illinois, though, so obviously I'm a bit interested. All I know is that it's considered to be the "summer to SWTWC's autumn."...
