Yeah, I found The Terror slow going, but I zipped through The Abominable and The Fifth Heart.
Video: David Morrell & Dan Simmons discuss their latest novels
Yes, it was a small turnout. Simmons probably isn't that well known among the mystery group, his "hard case" novels notwithstanding.
He’s currently working on a book called Omega Canyon that deals with the Manhattan Project and espionage and Richard Feynman.
You were at the Houston signing? I was the one who asked the last question: what he was working on now.
I'm not sure. He told me it was very scary. Maybe it's just on the back burner. He tends to take a lot of time with his books.
Here's the inside page where Simmons' excerpt appears.

The book was only available to attendees -- those left over were pulped, as I understand it. I snagged an extra copy when I registered so I could send one to Dan. He was the Grand Master of the...

Please note change in THE FIFTH HEART signing schedule for the Tattered Cover Denver signing on April 18...
I'll be meeting Dan on Tuesday -- he's in town for a signing at Murder by the Book.
I'm nearly finished with it -- it's interesting but a little bit slow-paced. At nearly 600 pages, it's taking me a while to get through it.
S/L matched set (#428) of Ilium and Olympos -- auction ends tomorrow.
I'm going to list my S/L matched set (#428) of Ilium and Olympos on eBay this weekend -- but before I do I thought I'd give someone here the chance to make an offer. Please PM me by Friday if you're...
Interesting choice, to not have the book's title on the cover.
There is an explanation for the change of tense in the letter accompanying the journals sent to Simmons. I liked this book quite a bit -- more than The Terror, in fact, though I may be a minority...
Thanks for the info -- I haven't read the souvenir book excerpt yet except for the first page.
