I paid full price and mine also had a (very) slight stain on the inside of the case.
Which was very easy to remove.
Not complaining here, just saying....:)
sk
I did, yesterday; SubPress did a great job with this edition:

Awesome - got both editions!
The lettered's almost gone!
sk
My Simmons Holy Grail for sure! One of the most gorgeous editions I've ever seen.
sk
I haven't read either book yet, and do own the numbered editions, but this lettered set is simply amazing.
sk
Never saw them either.
These are gorgeous books.
Wanna sell?? :)
sk
Don't think there is - yet. Who knows, maybe SubPress will tackle this one day.
sk
There haven't been too many Simmons's I didn't enjoy (actually, only one), so I'm sure I will like these as well.
Thanks everyone for their reaction.

Finally got my set of the SubPress editions of ILIUM and OLYMPOS. No dj, no slipcase, but I do like these books.
Now, I haven't read...
Actually I agree with everything you're saying here, Noah.
You bet it's just a marketing ploy - and I'm the happy sucker who's falling for it - gladly.
(And so are you!)

Carrion Comfort.
I've got the Dark Harvest trade, but a SubPress numbered/lettered edition would be my ultimate Simmons wish-come-true.
sk
Yes, I also pre-ordered one of the first 26 (Stinger), but have no idea if that automatically will mean a single-lettered book. I actually only have one lettered McCammon so far, and that's I Travel...
Careful, Noah: SK is you-know-who, sk, that's me. :)
My letter is OO. Not too fond of the double, but hey, it's the books that count, right..?
(Mumble, mumble...)
sk
I just love these books, Noah. I think SubPress did/is doing an amazing job on Simmons' Hyperion/Endymion books. One more to go.
And btw, I have a lettered set as well.
sk
That's what I thought about Dan Simmons and Charles Dickens.
I was so wrong: I hated Drood!
sk
Yesterday I received my numbered (#27) edition. As far as I can see, it's the exact same book (except for the letter, obviously). And no slipcase.
It can't be, though, that the only difference...
Love it!!
sk
Just ordered the numbered edition.
Think I'll leave the lettered for now.
Or rather, forever.
