Some good stories in that collection. Been a while since we've heard from Mr. Simmons.
More Better Deals by Joe Lansdale. He is one of the best writers of dialogue going and his stories aren't too shabby either!
BOB is King's "literary" novel and it reads as such.
If you liked Drood you might like The Fifth Heart as well.
I remember writing reviews like this, haha. It's in what you're not saying where the truth is.
I give Dan Simmons more leeway than I do with other authors...sometimes to my chagrin!
Finished Black Hills last night. As typical of Simmons' historical fiction he gives the reader a lot to work through and think about.
I've read 10 Michael Connelly (Lincoln Lawyer/Harry Bosch detective author) books in the past month and have a bunch more on hold at the library. Had never read his work prior to last month and, for...
Just finished Gwendy's Magic Feather. A fast and moderately entertaining read. Chizmar was certainly channeling his inner SK political leanings with the President Hamlin/Donald Trump character. Not...
Juggling 4 right now:
Bloody Genius - John Sandford. For my money Sandford is the most consistently entertaining and enjoyable author that I read. Some may find him formulaic (usually happens when...
Justice On Trial -Mollie Hemingway & Carrie Severino. A chilling account of the Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation.
Joe R. Lansdale - The Elephant of Surprise Excellent as always from JRL.
Andrew McCarthy - Ball Of Collusion (much scarier than The Institute!). Well written and researched.
Edward Levy - The Beast...
A few years ago I felt compelled to read some of the classics and tried Lord Of The Flies, Of Mice & Men, Moby Dick, Robinson Crusoe and The Old Man & The Sea. I finished LOTF, OM&M and TOM&TS but...
Neon Prey by John Sandford. Good as always.
The Reign Of The Kingfisher by T. J. Martinson. Very well written and entertaining debut novel.
Agree with your observation but it led to one of SK's most poignant scenes in chapters 9-13 from Part III-Notes From The Dead Zone.
Hyperion series I powered through. I did not enjoy it though. Hard read..... BUT Loved Terror, Summer of Night and others.
My American Unhappiness by Dean Baropoulos and Lethal White by Robert Galbraith with 'Salem's Lot re-read sandwiched in-between.
Probably not as much as I should after so many readings!
Thanks for noticing HBJ. That is the effect I was going for. If I were to someday redo my Second Coming prototype I would use these photographs.
