Here's the thing about the Gunslinger. The book is sparse. It doesn't yet have King's 'diarrhea of the mouth' thing going on with it. Not a lot of extraneous descriptions, or even a whole lot of...
I really like The Gunslinger. IMO it's one of the best books of the series, along with Drawing. I'd take the style of Gunslinger over the style of the last 3 books any day.
