To be clear, the "brass bound" copies were not bound in brass, but rather had brass clasps (shaped like long fingers) that held the book closed.
Perfectly correct Jerome, brass clasped would be the correct delineation.
Amazing sometimes how some expressions stick and yet they are completely wrong.

Plenty of proofs still missing. Anthologies, magazines, manuscripts and very early stuff, too. I know where some treasures reside but, understandably, it is difficult to pry them away from serious collectors. The hunt is fun, though! Talk with you soon.
