Well I just laid down $20... so there!
I'm holding off on donating until closer to the end... which is closer to my birthday... which is when I intend to throw money everywhere.
Plus, I'm hoping some of the items on my wishlist end up at auction to benefit Haven. Or someone here will sell the items and donate a portion to Haven.
Do you have any use for Stephen King Library editions? I just got a box of abandoned red books for Christmas from my dad, but I'm not sure I want to keep them all. Does anyone here collect them, looking for one in particular?
$341.00!!!!!
Is someone gonna get us to the $400 mark or what? LOL Do I need to send Luca Brazzi out of town? LOL
That $390 is really annoying the crap out of me. Do I have to do everything around here? LOL
better now?
Merlin, when you donate on the widget brother... how does it keep track of you so it can add an entry for you in the pool?
Much!! LOL
$530.00!!!!
$555.00!!!!!
Many thanks to, "Curtis" for his generous $25 contribution!!!
How come you guys don't take this money here raised... Buy a S/L... Get an incredible remarque done... And then make even more money???
Too much time involved generally to make that happen. Also, it's kinda speculative. Generally, members donate 1/1 editions, we reach out to the artists and new S/L/AE's are created and exclusive to the HF. The widget is just for straight cash donations, which are greatly appreciated. A certain amount of funds, generally donated by a member(s) are sort of used in the fashion you suggest, but typically for s/h costs and such and also associated with their original book donation. S/H costs, unless otherwise addressed, come out of the overall donation and then become the "Net" proceeds to the HF. I hope I stated that properly for all to understand. Jerome, is meticulous about the accounting for the HF and always impressed me with his precision. We're always open to new ideas and approach's!!!
Edit: In your scenario we would have to raise the funds for the S/L, procure it, send it to the artist and then receive it back to finally auction it for the HF. I suppose it could be done, but it would involve a lot more time and effort. Members have previously donated S/L and signed books and we do our thing on them, but believe it or not, even the 4 1/2 months of the Fundraiser really tests the time frame for artists and contributors. Heck, I even started this years campaign 3 months early to get where we are and there are still items in transit. Like I said though, I (we) are always open to new ideas and would love to discuss this for next year perhaps.
A lot more goes into this thing than I think most people realize. I'm not complaining or anything just a little FYI is all. If you think I do a lot for the HF, you have absolutely no idea how much, Jerome does for this to be a success every year. This year there have been record numbers of very generous contributors on both sides, donors and artists. It's a lot to coordinate, but we do our best and this is a truly amazing community!!!
