What’s the saying... a fool and his money are soon parted? Lol If it’s issued as 52 the designation shouldn’t matter. I know some may pay more for A (or 1 if numbered) but who cares if it’s a single or double? I would never pay more for a single letter.... and can’t imagine anyone would.

Unless you collect JUST one letter of every lettered, I've not had a problem with selling Lettered editions.
Who wants a Sleeping Beauties lettered--a massive book!
It's the same argument as "is No #1 more valuable than #101" or 3 being 'better' than 303. To some yes, to others it's not. You cant make definitive statements based on your own needs and desires. If you remove all other factors (such as wanting to match numbers on future publications) it all comes down to personal preferences. I *think* given cart blanche on being able to pick any number or letter, most people would opt for #1 or 'A'. It has emotive links to being 'first' but chances are these books weren't the first to be produced or the first to be signed or even the first to be printed.
Maybe.... I just don't see an argument for a single letter. But hey... we all have different opinions like you said. Being first argument would be A... so I give ya that... but AA being worth less? :orely: And my statement is not a definitive statement Simon... hence the use of 'I'.
Sorry, I don't get it either. I've never understood why someone would pay more for just a symbol on the same book, ie...Cujo lettered and numbered are the same.
Personal preference for a particular number or letter may justify spending a little more but the value, to me, is in the product not the symbol.
Yes, I could see how it would be worth less. It comes down to supply and demand. Let's say there are 10 buyers interested in owning a lettered edition. 5 of them don't care about letter denomination and 5 do. There are 2 books on sale, both perfect and other than the letter completely indistinguishable from the other.
There are now 10 people happy to buy "A" and only 5 people that would only consider "AA" if A were not available. so while both books are available, A is more desirable and according to the laws of supply and demand, AA would have to be lowered in price to compensate for this. how much it would need to be lowered is down to the individuals themselves.
Maybe. I have sold a LOT of books and not once has it come up or mattered... but I will not discount that it matters to some as two people up thread seemed to care. Surely Not enough to affect price in my eyes though. I just have never seen it yet and I keep my eyes pretty peeled on pricing out there. But I digress.. back to the sales thread. Cheers all
