Best Horror - Round 2 Group 6
-
-
-
My obvious first choice is Nightmare on Elm St. Although I'm sure it'll breeze on through to the next round, so I'm debating about sending my vote elsewhere. But I can't decide what one. I loved them (all minus The Mist). Going to have to think for a bit.

Think I'll have to give my love to The Ring, a very underappreciated film (and even more unappreciated sequel that I hated the first time I saw it) because of it's strong performances and absolute permeation with dread and atmosphere. Some movies try to be a little creepy all the time and almost none succeed...I'd put the ring, in terms of constant atmosphere, up there with films like The Orphanage and Halloween. I still watch both of The Ring films about once a year and I never seem to get sick of them. I hear Ringu is better than The Ring but I simply can't see it, much like how I cannot see how Let The Right One In is better than Let Me In.

Surprising to see The Ring in second place...

SSEEEEVVEEEENNNN DDDDAAYYYYYYSSSSSS...is how long the poll is open *rimshot*

A Nightmare on Elm Street is probably the best horror film of the group. The Ring is a very well-made creepy horror. I love both of those movies. Even Saw is very effective at what it sets out to do. But for all around over-the-top enjoyment, I have to give my vote to Re-Animator.
-
If The Ring and Nightmare advance this might be the best outcome to a poll yet.

I agree with everything you just said. I'm still torn on which of these to vote for.

I am deeply upset that Dawn of the Dead has fallen behind.
-
I'm surprised The Mist is doing so well.
-
Well, this is a King site
-
I know, I think I said that in another thread  I just never knew there was so much love for it, especially considering all the other films in this group.

I REMEMBER WHAT MY AGENT TOLD ME WHEN I GOT THE PART.

The Ring
But Freddy better make it, too!

Never Sleep Again, a great documentary about the Elm Street franchise, is now streaming on Netfix: http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/70138769?trkid=202653

VERY surprised to see The Ring moving on.
-
Nightmare on Elm Street and The Ring advance!
-
the good thing is that Saw didn't advance. I was suspecting it would be running away with it.

Why is it surprising?

I really wanted to vote for Saw, but it looks like it didn't have a chance. I thought it was a great horror film. Did you not like it at all?

Bee-cause it's not very good? Watched it in theaters and was pretty bored. A few creepy moments, but blah.

No. I hate horror films "with a deep meaning". Note the quotations marks.
