Letter to the Unworthy (6-6-11)
Thank you.
For showing me what I don't want for my future.
Thank you.
For showing me how to be more sure.
Thank you.
For showing me what I don't want in a relationship.
Thank you.
For putting me through all that shit.
Thank you.
For teaching me so may lessons, quite valid.
Thank you.
For telling me I wasn't tan enough; too pallid.
Thank you.
For asking me to kill myself when I was stricken by grief.
Thank you
for being your self; for giving me enough reasons to leave.
I won't ever say I was sorry.
I was an excellent wife.
I won't ever say I was sorry
that I ended that part of my life.
I won't ever say I was sorry
for giving my all.
I won't ever say I'm sorry
for loving at all.
I won't say "I'll love again"
because that you didn't take from me.
I never gave up on love completely, and in the end
That's something you'll never take from me.
I'll just say I'm sorry
that you couldn't appreciate what you had.
I'll just say I'm sorry
that you had to be so bad.
I'll just say I'm sorry
for wasting so much love on you
I'll just say I'm sorry
and I won't ever fall again for anyone you.
I won't ever say I'm sorry
for trying as hard as I did
I'm just sorry
it was you that I tried so hard with.
You were a shitty husband;
I was a wonderful wife.
You are so not worth it
You're so not worthy of being in my life.

How about some Autumn based poems? We could use some poetry around here!

This was inspired by Dylan Thomas' "Do Not Go Gentle"
Climb
By David France
“Death, she wishes to confine;
Her cousin Sleep samples me
But I harness both and climb.”
I constantly hear the Death Bell chime,
Someday we will all cease to be
We must maximize our time.
True, the rope up is filled with grime
But that’s just life’s fee
So fall unnoticed to the abyss or climb.
“Some people act like self-expression is a crime;
Others plain don’t like me
But I harness both and climb.”
Work Ethic and Swagger of Ali in his prime,
I propose that’s how to be
If you wish to be remembered for your time.
Universal truth within these rhymes,
So next time you’re feeling lazy
Take a look back at these lines.
*Edit: I did not see the preliminary rules of the circle before posting. Sorry this is not in line with the suggested subject.

That is fine! We need some life breathed back into this section... We'll take it!!!

Thankee Sais :)
I accumulated a decent amount last semester when I took an Intro to Creative Writing course. I will post periodically till my material has run dry (I focus on prose predominately when I have the choice).

Letter to heaL/ Not-Sonnet Sonnet
by David France
Still don’t know about love at first sight,
but a feeling has always been there.
More beautiful than the Taj or any wonderful site,
makes for embarrassed, unpreventable stares.
Alone I beam and imbibe your spoken name;
mirages of romantic dates.
Angelic too shallow a claim;
no wonder my confidence evaporates.
As sand sprints forever downward I fear I’ll never know you.
It’s abnormal but you highlight my day;
Intelligent Eyes…Purest Brilliant Blue.
Gorgeous inside and out, to a measure no man could convey.
For example this paling unconventional sonnet;
it very well may be over-sappy shit. Since it can’t be done justly, I must quit

I wrote this on Halloween. Someone in my creative writing class had just said borrowing from other authors is not art the day before. I knew I wanted to prove her wrong. I was going through my E.A. Poe book when it flipped to "Coliseum". I've borrowed phrases from that poem, as well as adopted Poe's style, to make this one. Hope you guys like it!
Coliseum I I
by David France
Epitome of modern New Rome! Rich Commerce Machines
You were taken before your time
Struck by crazy cowards unforeseen!
At length- at length- after so many days
We still mourn and honor our victims,
I kneel, a humble man, and pray,
The innocent fallen are absolved of all venial crimes,
And for World Peace; especially in the Middle East.
Tower! Tower! Now you both have more Power!
Courage! Patriotism! And Death!
I feel ye now- I feel ye in your strength-
Your lesson is wiser than e’er philosopher king
Taught in the streets of Greece!
You’re an eternal symbol of the need for Peace to a myriad of US
The need for One United World of Man!
Here, where heroes fell, an Idea stands!
Here, where the Twins dealt in today’s gold,
An endless vigil holds a piece of our Pride, Honor, and Hope!
Here, where the Hard-Working, Life-Loving type of New Yorker
Provided for their families, we shall never forget them!
Here, where on That Day the sirens droned,
The Heroes rushed in, Selflessly, and tried to clear the war zone,
Lit by flames of a lethal Hate inferno
Memory and Hope live in their Headstones!

I wrote this while reading John D. MacDonald's Condominium:
Hurricane
Hurricane, monster of wind and rain,
Like an infected man, we wish you never came,
All you are is destruction and pain,
To shore-dwellers you are the bane,
Those who test you are naive and vain,
Those who chase you are insane,
I hate you, it's that simple and plain.
-
:)
I like it... It's that simple and plain!

:D, thanks Odetta.
I'm trying to revive this thread. I would love to read other members's poetry!
-
Me too! We are working on trying to get these threads more active! Get posting people!!!!
-
Lets review Ms. O's instructions. OK, THIS thread is for a basic Poetry circle...
Very few rules... create a poem based on a subject. GO NUTS! When people get bored and want to change the subject, go ahead. Just make sure you leave time to let everyone post on the subject at hand before changing it!"
New subject... technology
