One time donations are the best.
If you love the site and come here often, then think of 25 cents a day. That's $91.25 for one year. For some that may be too steep. 10 cents a day is only $36.50.
If the site isn't worth a dime a day to keep ad free, then feel free to not donate.

Jerome, If we set up say a $10 recurring payment today (or this month) for a projected $120 overall donation by next October, will that meet the site's annual fee's requirements properly? I guess I mean to ask, what is the site's "Fiscal Year" so to speak? I also set up a one time donation of $25 (via check thru the mail) to cover all my bases, but I would think others beside myself would be interested to know how best to make their contributions relative to when the site fee's are due & payable. Seems rather late in the year to begin soliciting these contributions on the face of it, but if the "Fiscal Year" is defined by a different calendar it would make more sense.
Does that make sense to you at all? LOL LOL I hope you take my meaning. I'm not asking for any disclosure, I trust you implicitly, just thinking out loud I suppose (and that can be dangerous!! LOL) and trying to make sure I am maximizing my contribution and making it as easy as possible for you is all. Damned if I don't just love this place!!!
Bill, one-time donations are the best. It's been my experience that recurring payments cease after a month or two.
The last few years I have asked for members to donate. I ask from ~November (today being 10/26/2015) until the end of the year (12/31/2015) for members to donate.
I will update the donation totals weekly. If we don't reach $3,000, then I will pro-rate the donations ($250 total equals 1 month, etc.).

Okay, fair enough. I already set up the recurring thing, only because it was there as an option. I'll let that stand and you let me know, when you have time in the future, if it continues properly. Quick question for members.
If I raised the donation goal to $5,000 dollars and not only would the site be ad free, but fee free for transactions in the wanted or Classifieds section for 2016; would that be a good idea? I know there are people here who have saved hundreds, if not thousands in ebay/PP fees buying and selling items.

That's a great idea. BTW - are you going to keep a running total like the fundraiser? It would be nice to have a thermometer or whatever to show progress.

I've never sold here, but purchased several items. One thought is to be "free" to contributing members and charge a fee to those that won't. Of course that would be based on whether or not you received enough to cover the costs. It also might keep flaky sellers from taking advantage. Just a thought.
To add, maybe free to contributors that donated a specific value or higher.

Case in Point, I just sold a signed Revival to a member here for $155 plus shipping last week. I offered the same book on ebay for $169 plus shipping. The way I look at it, ebay lost $22....I saved $8, and the buyer saved $14.....the buyer in this case received most of the benefit of that transaction taking place here.
If there were some kind of restriction or fee put on selling, I would probably sell less, or not sell at all....and I think other members would do the same. Buyers would be hurt by this...just as much, if not more than sellers.
