Funny how she has been leapfrogged in the publishing queue by no fewer than five Richard Chizmar books that were announced after she was.

EDIT: Since I'm clearly done even pretending to be nice about CD's chronic issues, here's the comment about Gwendy's Final Task that I deleted after posting a while ago:

What's extra messed up about this is that the book that supposedly got you rights to this CD release was not actually published by CD but by LRB... If they're trying to maintain the useful fiction that these are in any way separate publishers (in order not to piss the CD Lifetime Subscribers off, I suppose), stuff like this pretty much destroys the illusion!
So here we have:
Book one published by two authors via LRB
Book two published by one of those authors via CD
Book three published by two authors via CD
To me, the rights should obviously go to the owners of book two, as it shares an author, is inarguably the immediate predecessor in a three-book series, and was published by the same publisher. I know that folks here really like having King vs non-King tracks so they can avoid having to buy non-King books, and I don't disagree with that sentiment, but the fact that the first book wasn't even technically published by CD while the second book was makes this logic tenuous at best!
Anyway, at least they can use the income from this book to maybe finish the limited and lettered editions of Magic Feather, which went on pre-order almost exactly two years ago. And everyone be sure to buy whatever King release they manage to secure in 2024 so they can afford to publish this one! I promise you, if you see news that King has died you should immediately ask for refunds on all your outstanding pre-orders because that will be the exact moment this house of cards collapses completely.
As always I hope that the two hardworking souls at CD who monitor these forums don't take offense to my negativity because I realize that they are not responsible for any of this and if anything are even more beholden to the whims of "management" than us lowly customers. It's taken almost a solid decade of disappointment to grind me down to this point, but I swear their mission in 2021 is to get me mad enough to cancel the five remaining pre-orders that I didn't cancel in 2020.
