Early in the morning John Smith arose, posted letters to his Father and Sara Bracknell and broke into the upper level of the Jackson, New Hampshire Town Hall. Later that morning he attempted to assassinate Congressman Greg Stillson but was shot and mortally wounded by Stillson's bodyguards. To avoid being shot Stillson had grabbed a young boy from his mother's arms and a photo of his action by Stuart Clawson apparently changed the course of Stillson's career. When Johnny touched stillson as he lay dying he found that Stillson's future had changed and he was no longer a threat
