Thanks, guys. I hadn't even thought to ask the library. I just did a search and it looks like there's one available at a branch nearby (I'm guessing they could have it sent to a closer one). If I don't win the auction I just bid on, I'll go the library route.

Most libraries will definitely transfer books between branches of the same system. They even have regional or national sharing of items not found locally.

I have 2. One I would consider Fine (on the right in the pictures below) and the other Nr Fine (on the left). The NF has only a small amount of shelf wear to the top of the spine.

I'd be interested in values of a fine copy.

How did you find the perfect copy? Trial and error? Or did you know it was perfect before you bought it? I’ve been buying copies on eBay here and there, but no luck on perfection. Got one or two near fine, though. In terms of value, I’d give you 200 US for the perfect one:)

It was bought as fine. I was told it had lived it's entire life in a closed drawer and never really seen the light of day since it's original purchase. I can well believe that as it's pristine. Also it's not for sale! I was just interested in current market value. The other copy I would consider offers on though.

Easy yes. Cheap no. A Fine dj for Misery (which usually comes with a fine book as the dj is the first to show wear) is hard to find for less than $50. There are tons of ebay ads, but inevitably when the book arrives, there are more flaws than expected.

Ask Kris (webstar1000) about such endeavors. He has probably purchased 20+ trade editions of IT that looked great in the ad, but ended up having flaws that made them far less "Fine" than the auction worded and pictured.

I'm sure you will find what you are looking for; I suggest patience if you want a value.

RF is soooo right. I think my last count was 55 or 56. not even joking.... I’ll have to check. Ironically I made a pretty fine copy. I have one by putting together a fine jacket an another that the book was fine. I would say it’s the closest to new I have seen. I have been lucky to sell all the other books I find.... but still would like to get a even better copy.... a true 10/10. People... even members here rate books to high, even me. I recently paid TOP dollar for a “perfect” copy... and it wasn’t. You have your work cut out for you. Your best bet is here though... not EBay. Good luck my friend.

When I first started collecting I really didn't know what fine or very fine meant, so after looking over my collection, I notice flaws like you guys are mentioning. Especially with my Misery book. The book is perfect, but the jacket I would say is near fine with some ripples in it. So I figured I would look into it. I don't have a problem paying a fair price for one, but yes, it is hard to find one, or even any book that is older, in very fine condition. Perhaps I should start with Four Past Midnight first lol. But thank you guys for the heads up. And yes, I have dealt with the whole ebay thing too with it not being what it is supposed to be as listed.

This is so true it's painful. And not just with dustjackets, but with page block smudges and bumped corners.

These books are now 25-30 years old. It's pretty unlikely that any given "Fine" listing on ebay is really a Fine copy. Caveat Emptor.

Cook, In slight defense of Kris, I don't recall you listing prices when you have an item for sale. Wouldn't your sage advice work both ways?

Nope, not really.
Kris is the one asking for a signed copy of Revival, I wasn't listing one, just responding to his inquiry.
He said he didn't want to spend a fortune... what's a fortune?
As I posted "no ill will", and I believe this is to be a gift for his off site friend, not my friend, his friend.
We sort of disagreed on market value, so no harm no foul, neither of us found it necessary to send "Fuck you's" to each other.
I'm asking what's market value for a signed copy of Revival? What is he hoping or willing to spend? is it a shiny new nickel or a thousand dollars?
It's a serious question, and at this point no matter what I put down on print here it will be construed as negative.

Poking around for a cheap signed 1st. It’s a gift for someone. He wanted a Revival but no luck. I don’t wanna spend a fortune of course... any End of Watch’s kicking around? They seem to be the cheapest signed King book there is. Thanks

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kris,
No ill will intended here.
Wouldn't be easier if you posted what your willing to pay? it would probably save a lot of back and forth PM's.
Especially since lately all your "want" inquiries are mostly books for some friend or another.
Good luck buddy.

Jerome, I sent you an additional PM hopefully clearing up my normal selling habits.

After the following US 1st / 1st paperbacks in at least Near Fine+ (happy to wait for beautiful examples of these books). Ideally, someone would have more than one so the shipping to Australia doesn't hurt so much.

- Carrie
- Night Shift
- The Stand
- The Dead Zone
- Firestarter
- Danse Macabre
- IT
- Eyes of the Dragon
- Misery

Looking for signed first printings of the Viking Dark Tower books

Pretty tough to find.....at one time, King signed 6 sets which were auctioned for charity...undoubtedly, more copies have been signed in the interim, but I've been told there were only 40,000 actual 1st printings of those Vikings so they are harder to find anyway....I own a set but not for sale. I sold a set on consignment maybe 3 years ago for a little over $2000 as I recall.

Or there can be no dust jacket for that matter. PM me if you've got one to sell. Thanks!

Also, if you have an inscribed Dark Half you are interested in selling, let me know. I would rather it be flatsigned, but beggars can't be choosers and all that jazz.

Yes, ideally I would like to find an inscription to Anthony with no date:) That would be perfect, but I'm guessing a flat signature would be easier to find than that. I actually don't think I've ever seen an inscription to my name, to my recollection.

Yes I know that’s but wondered if it would be any different where VFB is a business and were able to continue buying the books. Things work a little differently for publisher to publisher.... and I seen no mention of it.

Bushiness to would fall under than category... but like I said... I was wondering and you would think it would mean a lot to someone for those rights. It would be something for him to mention IMO.

Kris is right; rights for future volumes can be tricky between businesses.

For example, Camelot always gets a batch of S/Ls from SubPress, and retains rights to any future volumes from that author/series for those numbers. So if you buy the first in a SubPress series through Camelot, you will need to buy future matching volumes through Camelot. SubPress won't sell them to you directly. Which is fair enough I think.

So it would be interesting to know whether this is also true for VFB and Suntup.

(That price is amazing, by the way. I can't believe I have a (potentially) $4000 book sitting on my shelf)

Yeah, but you still have the rights. You just have to buy through the third party site/company.

Yes and no.

As I understand it, SubPress doesn't guarantee that you will be able to get it from Camelot; that's between you and Camelot. All SubPress guarantee is that Camelot gets future editions with that number. So the rights are really with Camelot, as far as SubPress are concerned.

(The folks of Camelot do reserve matching numbers for you if you ask, by the way. I don't think anyone should have any concerns about getting matching numbers from SubPress via Camelot, because both companies are awesome. I'm just using their relationship, as I understand it, as an example)

Also in line with the overall quality of the book. Many people have mentioned how this is lettered quality and $4200 is in the lettered copy range. I know there are more available than typical lettered copies but I don't see these hitting the market that often. Still a low print run and an instant gem to many collections.

I am looking for a copy of the Suntup Edition EOTD portfolio, with a number less than or equal to 100, and from someone who had the rights to, but did not order The Haunting of Hill House.

I'm looking for this specifically because I have a copy of The Haunting of Hill House that I haven't been assigned a number for, and if I can get the matching EOTD than I can start a matching set of the non-King books.

I'd also be willing to purchase a higher number and trade you for a copy with a lower number. I just want one low enough that it will match future numbered editions if Paul decides to do a limitation lower than 185 (I'm thinking 100 would be the lowest a numbered edition would go).

I see what you're trying to do. You'll need to get an EOTD number that matches a HHH number where the Misery owner with that number doesn't want HHH. Misery owners get first refusal of matching HHH.

Not everyone who had an EOTD necessarily ordered a matching Misery. So the EOTD owner may not have rights to that HHH to give. Just something to stipulate in your request, I think.

HBJ

Exactly! There were a number of people that ordered EOTD just so they could get Misery but then didn't get HHH - I'm hoping to find one of them. Alternatively there are a few higher numbers out there for sale and I suppose I could check with Paul to see if they're available. But I want to get as low of a number if possible so that I can match future non-King books if Paul decides to (or has to, contractually) do a lower run of say 100, or 150.

The link Adam has above, under "Catalog Hyperlinks". It is just weird how those are there, but not something like the numbered Dystopia with the reasoning it isn't signed by King. I can see how it can't be within the "Complete list of Stephen King Signed Limiteds", but not how it can't be in the catalog.

Thanks for clearing up MY confusion. Dystopia was a collection of Matheson stories. King contributed a short introduction for one story. Since King signed the lettered edition, we included it in the Catalog.
The trade was left out as it is primarily all about Matheson and his stories.

CD's books from King's Doubleday years are primarily/exclusively King and despite not being signed by King, they are of great importance to many Stephen King collectors.

I love manuscript photocopies. I enjoy reading them side-by-side with the book, oohing and aahing over the changes that were made. It's even more fun when there are changes and comments present made by the editor, when you can really see the two of them getting the text ready for publication.

If anyone has any manuscript photocopies he/she would be willing to part with, from King's novels of the seventies and eighties (plus Needful Things), I'd be very interested to hear via PM! Thanks everyone.

Looking for reading copies of The Outsider and The Fireman. These are to be a gift, so not dog-eaten condition, but they can be bumped and imperfect. Thought I'd ask here before I gave B&N my money. Thanks!

Does anyone have a copy of the trade edition of Cycle of the Werewolf, as close to fine/fine as possible? If it comes with a slipcase, that’d be great, but it’s not a dealbreaker.
