I've always been really curious about this but never remember to post something about it. In the vacant lot when Jake sees the message:
"Susannah-Mio, divided girl of mine
done parked her rig in the dixie pig
in the year of '99"
Did everyone else read this to the melody of
"Oh Susanna, don't you cry for me
I come from Alabama with
a banjo on my knee" ?
I did, but all three of my brothers said they didn't. I was just curious if anyone else thought of this when they read that part.
I didn't, but now that you said it I think I should have - it seems clearly intended. Thank you for this observation, it's one of those little treasures that are so abundant in the saga! http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

I sang it loudly to the tune of Metallica's Damage, INC till now. Now I can't stop reading it your way. <_<

Yes!! I knew I wasn't the only one! You're the first person who's ever thought of it that way before I told them. Awesome

I read it very much like a limerick, you know the laborious cadence, kinda like:
Susannah-Mio, divided girl of mine 8)
done parked her rig :orely:
in the dixie pig
in the year of '99 ;)
Either way suits Bango Skank quite well. I can totally picture a snickering rendition of the O Susannah chorus, as though none of it really means a bit, compared with having slack.
for a limerick, it is one line short
Tempus Frangit: I understand you are happy that someone had heard it your way before you told them, but think how great is the feat of making those who heard it differently hear it your way (which, as I said before, I am sure is the right way, or at least one of the right ways) now!

You're right Jean, it was just nice to know I wasn't a weirdo  But you're right, and it's even cooler than for the most part, once people hear it that way in their head, it's hard to hear it however they originally did

Ha! I don't think I will ever be able to read that song again without thinking of Oh Susanna! I'm ruined...:beat:
