Castle Theatre
{In Hologram-o-Rama}

At the end of the hall is a door floating just above the floor. Two figures flank it: an old cigar store Indian and a Robot.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo194/TheCuteWoofer/Palaver%20Castle/Theatre_Door.jpg

“Which theatre, please? Batcave, the Enterprise, an Opera house, or simply Elegant?” They ask simultaneously.

You answer and one hands you a token; Old Chief Woodenhead to those choosing the Opera house or simply Elegant, and Nigel to those choosing the Batcave or the Enterprise. “Step through please.”

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo194/TheCuteWoofer/Palaver%20Castle/Free-Beer.jpg

You step into the lobby for your theatre and ponder refreshments. In the mirror behind the concession stand you catch a glimpse of a different lobby before yours solidifies and you smile. A holographic-surround keyed to the token.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo194/TheCuteWoofer/Palaver%20Castle/Lobby.jpg

Armed with drink and snack, you enter the theatre and settle in for a movie with friends.

bears voted 2, 3, 7, but don't forget that the Castle having a lot of dimensions it is actually possible to have all of them at the same time in one place.

I wonder, then, if our developers could set it up so that you name the theater you wish to watch in and that's the door that opens for you. :orely: I talk to them about that.

I'd go with the Batcave...but the TNG one is very nice, just a bit bright for a theater.

In the meantime, I'd like to remind folks who do not own The Lion in Winter that you can buy it through Amazon (don't forget the link at the bottom of the page):

when do we view the film?

Woofer
07-30-2009, 07:14 AM
alinda, we've not yet set up a time. I'd like to set the first showing for a couple of weeks from now to allow for people to order it and/or bump it to the top of their Netflix or Blockbuster queue. Tonight or tomorrow I will post a thread regarding show times so that we can discuss the best time in general for each of us (just to get a feel) as well as finding the ideal time for our first movie. :excited: :excited: :excited:

Jean

Before we schedule the first movie, I'd like to get an idea of what days and times are good for people in general. Please post your general availability, and I'll make a list. From that, I'll suggest times for The Lion in Winter, and we will decide the exact date of the showing from the suggested days and times.

Bears are available most of the time, unless it is EST daytime, which is bears' nighttime. EST mornings and evenings are ok

The Bear is sick. There will be no movie until the bear can join us. The movie will be The Lion in Winter. Please ignore the crews working on the theatre. As we are not in a rush for the 21st, they have slowed down a bit. Still, it wouldn't be wise to wander too close.

Now... get to sending goodmind to the bear!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've not forgotten this, I've just been very busy on this level of the tower. I've an online course to complete by 9/10, and I've been working on Sat and Sun to make up for taking off for the you-know-who on Mondays.

I did talk to the crew getting the theaters ready, and they said that they are whenever we are, so I am thinking sometime soon after 9/10. :P

Okay, I think that we shall shoot for September 26 as our fist movie.

Sept 26 I'm ready since about 10.30 pm Moscow time - which is 11.30 am in California, but I will have to go to bed at some moment, so it's till about 1 or 2 am, which will be respectively 2 or 3 pm California time. If this time is not suitable, I think I can wake up at about 8 o'clock next morning - 9 pm in California, but I am afraid this is the earliest.

"You're good at rage. I like the way you play it."

LATER:

"Mother's tired. Come stick pins tomorrow morning; I'll be more responsive."
"It's no fun goading anyone tonight."

STILL LATER:

"I should say something solemn, but I haven't got the time."

EVEN LATER:

"I spent two years in every street in Hell."
"That's odd. I never saw you there."

EVEN LATER STILL:

"I'm it. I'm all that's left. Here, Father. Here I am."

Jean

It was an absolutely fantastic experience, I wouldn't have believed anything like that possible. I am exhausted now, in a good way - in a wonderfully good way. Not only the movie - one of the greatest movies of all times - works like it never did before, but it was like I really was there in the theater with my beloved Woofer, and heard her lupine heart beating so close to me, and we laughed and gasped and held our breath at the same moments; as if we were holding paws - Woofer, I can still feel the warmth of your paw in mine.

Guys, gals, beasts and birds and fish, everyone who missed it today - try not to miss the next show, it's something that can't really be described in words.

Lady Linda http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wub.gif: next time the day and the hour will depend on you entirely; if you'd only warned at least a day before, we would have put off this first show, too. The whole thing had to be started, so we at least could see if it worked - and now we know that it does, better than we could have expected!

I think it's time for people, animals, and other creatures to voice their preferences about the next show.

Suspense/Thriller

I suggest we watch something old and black-and-white. Could be some Capra - Arsenic and Old Lace, or Mr.Smith Goes to Washington, or someone else like that. I mean, as far as newer movies are concerned, especially the four last category you listed, people watch enough of this shit without us; like, you don't have to get together to watch Saw, and anyway the impression wouldn't be, to my mind, exactly what we're trying to achieve.

Yes, when I mention horror or science fiction, I'm not talking about newer or thoughtless movies. I mean movies like Forbidden Planet

And The Spiral Staircase - classic B&W suspense/thriller with one scene scared the bejers out of me.

Oooo, and Rope, there's a great thriller.

I'll second Aresenic and Old Lace. Third?

My apologies to all for not pressing forward with this. As you may know from some of the threads, I have been very busy. (Work, Howl-o-ween, the H'ween party,

Shall we try for a date in December? I'm still very busy at work, but I may have a chance toward the end of the month. I realize that December is a bad month since it encompasses almost all the Winter holidays, but I'm still hopeful.

That should give us all time to get a copy of whatever we plan to watch. HOWEVER, I don't want to put anyone out, especially around the holidays, so I think we should go with something that is readily available.

Is everyone able to watch movies online? I know not everyone has a connection that will support decent video. The Philadelphia Story (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D56A61E54B01403D) is on YT.

It Happened One Night

You realize, of course, that your Master of Ceremonies is also a gorehound?

That aside, I'm not suggesting a gorefest, but we do have a problem: lots of suggestions for the next movie, but no seconding. I don't know what kind of power you have to have to make a poll, but maybe Jean (*waves to the bear*) could set one up once we have about 5 choices. Then we can vote and set a time that allows everyone to put paws to DVD.

I'm concerned that some people may have difficulty getting the choice in time to watch, so I would definitely like to see a two week (at least) gap between the vote and and the viewing. Let me know if any of you anticipate that it could take longer than that.

Final thought: Instead of nominations and voting, perhaps we should form a club and have members choose the movie on a rotating basis. That seems very fair to me.

Thoughts?

Sorry that I haven't addressed this sooner, it's been a rough... well, however long it has been. Don't want to talk about any of it, just want to move on.

Oh ya, I appreciate all horror, from the subtle to the EXTREME. That doesn't mean I like every movie I see - far from it - but it means that I am open to trying a lot of movies that others don't. In that vein, by the way, Killer Condom is available on Hulu.

Also, you forgot Braindead/Dead Alive (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103873/) (During the lawnmower scene, I said to Mr. Woofer "They should cut to a random shot of a kitten in a field of flowers and then back to this just to clear the palate a little.") and Dellamorte Dellamore (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109592/) .

People flying under the power of the blood pumping from their severed limbs (and bodies that hold hundreds of gallons of blood apparently) :wtf:.

Woofer - It's one of my all time favorite movies.

What was your favorite scene? To me, anything with Dinah in it was a bonus. She stole all her scenes, and that's no small feat when you're opposite Katharine Hepburn!!

Woofer
05-12-2010, 07:25 AM
It's true! It was just great. I really don't know which is my favorite because seeing that way was like seeing it for the first time. I think I'll definitely be using "Yar" interchangably with "Rawr!" now. I'm definitely going to watch it again soon, so that I can think about what I am seeing rather than just allowing myself to be immersed.

Thanks, Pam. That was a great suggestion!

ETA: Ooo, I just thought of one early scene where I almost woke Mr. Woofer with my laughter: horseback riding. I have been riding with someone who was just exactly like George in that scene: utterly clueless and convinced he needed no help. I also loved when Hepburn tackled him to the ground to ensure that his new outfit didn't look so... new.

turtlex
05-12-2010, 09:50 AM
My but she was yar!!

Actually, when Dinah says "maybe because his name is Jack!" when they're on the horses is probably my favorite scene, I think - it's hard to pick just one ... but her delivery is perfect.

I love when Jimmy Stewart goes to the library and talks to the librarian and then runs into Kate. And then when he and Ruth are first brought into the house and start looking around ... so many great moments.

There are just so many great moments in that film. It's wonderful.

Woofer
05-12-2010, 10:03 AM
There are! Being a LOSTie, I couldn't help but think of Jack when Dinah made the Jack comment. Jimmy Stewart was phenomenal. It's easy to see why this was his Oscar-winning role (although, truth be told, he has turned in even more Oscar-worthy performances than those for which he has been nominated, but I digress...).

Now I wish I had kept it an extra extra week to watch it again! :panic:

The Crow

The Green Mile

Event Horizon
Sands of Iwo Jima
Dead Poets Society
12 Angry Men
Waterworld
Donnie Darko
Interstella 5555
Yellow Submarine
Hamlet 2
Pandorum
Various Doctor Who episodes, mainly Blink
Repo! The Genetic Opera

Coming Soon:
V For Vendetta
Spirited Away
Jurassic Park I - III

I also have Avatar and Watchmen, but we ain't watching them. Avatar is too fucking long, and Watchmen is an abomination, simply because it brought into the world the MCR cover of Desolation Row.

Um, for those not knowing ... why Nov 5th is important to the film :

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot,
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Fawkes at midnight, and by torchlight, there was found
With long matches, and devices, underground.

Iconic Scene from V for Vendetta ... oozes coolness.
