View Full Version : The Thread Thread (can you help me find ______?)

Woofer

I was looking for a thread today, and I'm not having a lot of luck. I decided to start a general thread for thread searches rather than ask in another thread (I'm trying to use the word thread enough times to sew a Starfleet uniform for the upcoming Star Trek movie. Thread.)

Anyway... I'm looking for the DT reread thread. It's time to read it again. On a related note, have I mentioned that my friend, the Red Headed Devil, still has not finished book 7? It's been a year. I'm so sad. I quit asking her about it months ago. I have no doubt that I will breeze through the entire series and have to ask for 7 back before she is done.

So... anybody know where the reread thread is?

P.S. Thread.

are you talking about the group re-read thread? if so, that one got sent to the clearing.

really good thread that always helps you to find threads from all the threads that you don't want to look because those threads doesn't have the stuff that your wanted thread has.

soo . . . thanks for the thread for looking threads woofer :D

actually, this is a very useful thread and i hope that it doesn't get sent to the clearing for old threads (you know, when threads die or the mods decide that threads are no longer good threads or useful threads?).

cause sometimes when you do a search for a thread you can't think of the proper word to use to find the thread and then the search engine tells you that the thread doesn't exist when you know that the thread does. but if you come to this thread then you can post what you're looking for and someone else may know of what thread you speak and direct you to the proper thread so that you can go post in that thread.

a very helpful thread this.

thankee sai for starting this thread to find threads.

p.s. thread.

Thanks everyone. Your knowledge of threads is awesome. Together, we can ensure all threads are threadily available in one handy thread thread. We'll be like some massive, multi-threaded monster for Jason and his Argonauts to battle to the thread.

Do we have a thread for discussing the perversities of human nature? Not that kind, we have a thread for that. I mean they type of perversity that Poe discusses in The Imp of the Perverse, such as the inclination one often feels to jump from a height even though one knows that is stupid, dangerous, and possibly deadly. That inclination is the "imp of the perverse" in humans.

Soooo, thread?

Pseudo OCD and other mental anomalies (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?t=2202)

Woofer

Thanks, Jean, but I don't think OCD would work in this case. I love my boss and this truly is not related to her at all. I am using boss as an example to which most of us can relate.

The Imp of the Perverse is the urge to do something that you know would have bad or negative results, such as spontaneously calling one's boss a piss pot in an important meeting or spontaneously punching him. Those are actions that you know for a fact will not have a positive outcome in the end for you, and yet something in you wants, nay urges, you to do it.

Should I make a thread?

I actually meant "other mental anomalies" - E.A.Poe being one of my favorite authors, I kinda know what Imp of the P. is about http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_cool.gif - but I don't mind having a whole thread dedicated to a specific anomaly. http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

Woofer

I know you know, Jean, please don't think I didn't. I added clarification in general for anyone else who a: didn't know the story and b: weren't certain from my explanation above. I hope you were not offended by that. In fact, I pretty much assume you have a working knowledge of almost anything I discuss, such is this wolf's respect for the bear.

I just felt that the OCD and other anomalies thread was a little too broad for the specifics I wanted to discuss. I am happy with whatever the mods want to do.

but i cant find a thread that discusses the best reading order of the DT books and related books. My hubbie and sister have just started to read the books, big sis is on The Gunslinger and hubbie is on DoTT

I want to introduce the other books at relavant times, the reason is my sister just tried to read Hearts in Atlantis and couldn't finish it, but i think she will enjoy it more when she reads it along side TDT?

I don't know of any place where Users are "ranked".

I'm honestly financially unable to do it this year. I'll ask the directors how they feel about resuming the address thread at least temporarily. There were a few problems in the past though. Otherwise you may have to just PM the people whose addresses you want.

Is there a classified ads type thread here for people selling random things?

For example I'm selling a pop-up camper and trying to spread the word around as much as I can.

Not really! At least I don't believe there is. I have no problem with a random classifieds thread though if you'd like to start one.
