I had to go with Maus. It is, in my opinion, one of the most important works in the world of comics. I don't care about the artwork being stunning, I don't care about what else the writer has done, Maus took a section of history that no one should ever forget and put it into a medium that makes it easier for even children to experience and understand. Maus will be, now and forever, one of the most important books in Comic Book/Graphic Novel history. So I had to vote for it. For now.

Sam and Max Surfing the Highway gets my vote. Even if this bracket does have Brodie's Law, which i myself nominated. But...you really just can't beat the sheer awesome insanity of Sam and Max!

The Lady of Shadows

This is a killer bracket for me....

I mean, how can you not go with Maus - it won a Pulitzer! And is so wonderfully told and drawn.

But, also, I completely and utterly love X-tinction Agenda by Chris Claremont.

These are perhaps two of my all time favorite GNs. Grrrrrr. :pullhair:

Was making reference to your sig, sj :

And I really shouldn't even bother taking the zombie quiz, seeing as how I would choose the exact same things you did.---ferny

We better be careful. I'm pretty sure that's one of the signs of the Apocalypse.

I would have gone for Season Of Mists, but my favourite Sandman is in another bracket leaving me free to vote for From Hell. I thought this was a fantastic story...and I actually liked the film adaptation...but don't tell Feev :ninja:

Wow. This is a close bracket...

... can I remind you that Maus won a PULITZER!!!

Sam
04-25-2009, 06:38 PM
Maus is clearly the better tale (no pun intended) of this group. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Brice
04-25-2009, 08:47 PM
I voted for From Hell, but it is the only one I've read of these. In most of these polls I couldn't vote at all.

Sam
04-25-2009, 09:50 PM
Dude, you NEED to read Maus. It is imperative.

turtlex

Sam: Do you think we should vote? :orely:

Actually Brice, I think you should go to Bracket 2 and vote for Kingdom Come.:P:wtf:

Oh, and if you have to be a mormon, you couldn't find better looking wives than Lisa, Alisha, and Pam. (Of course, I'm guessing in Pam's case. She may be a troll.)

If she's a troll she's a loveable one...and I'll keep her. I wonder if I have to wait on the wedding to see her though. I know they say it's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, but I didn't realize they meant to see her AT ALL before the wedding.

Dude, I have honor and nobility. :nope: I can't just vote based on someone else's opinion....my vote must be bought.

This is one of the only brackets so far in which I've read one of the contesting books. I voted accordingly. :D

It was Maus.

Seymour_Glass
04-28-2009, 03:14 AM
Oh.:( Have you read Preacher? Cause if not, you should.

turtlex
04-28-2009, 03:20 AM
Preacher is great, without a doubt. Worthy of a win, hands down.

But also to consider, if I may - Maus won a Pulitzer. I might have mentioned this previously. T-hee, t-hee.

Also, on the great story scale is X-tinction Agenda along with Dark Phoenix, it's one of my all time favorite X-Men titles.

jayson
04-28-2009, 03:26 AM
That Maus won a Pulitzer is certainly of historical significance, being the first GN to do so. Still, whether it did or not is of no consequence to me. I find awards to be the meaningless result of someone else's subjective decision. They're interesting to me, but not a criterion for my evaluation. I voted for it because it's the only one I've read, but it's also the only one I've read because the others don't appeal to me, which tells me something as well. :)

turtlex
04-28-2009, 04:07 AM
Weeeelllll... Maus also has the "Pam Thinks It's Great" award, but that holds even less significance than the Pulitzer. :D

Brice
04-28-2009, 04:11 AM
Actually that is considered a higher more valuable award. :D

turtlex
04-28-2009, 04:14 AM
See... there's a reason that Alisha and I want to share you! You're a sweetheart, Brice! And I grant you the same award. :couple:

Brice
