I have never in my life dressed up for halloween. Even as a baby. This year I'mma do Jake Lonergan. My wife's friend has an annual costume party and last year I went straight and actually felt like I was missing out on some fun. This year I decided to dress up. Will be my first time. :)

Did you get a hat?

My 11 year old daughter is going as Tony Stark.. We even ordered an "arc reactor" to attach to her shirt. I love raising a geek :)

That embarrassing moment when you put your costume on a half hour before a party, and you can't squeeze into the pants. ><

I'm hoping no one will notice I left them unbuttoned and covered it with a loose belt. I have a terrible muffin top... I guess I just won't sit down all night.

My roommates and I carved pumpkins! :D http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv139/declarationDRC/kins.jpeg

left to right, we have the Foo Fighters logo, the Iron Man arc reactor, and Captain America. Mine is in the middle.

Looking good, Jen! Did you guys use Zombie Pumpkins? I notice the Captain America pattern is from there.

I also carved another 'kin today and am about to upload pics. :D

 well, we kinda got it from Zombie Pumpkins....that was Steph's and she's an artist. So she just looked up that pic and drew it on her pumpkin directly. We refuse to pay for pumpkin patterns...

Went to an amazing Halloween party over the weekend. It was great; music, dranks, and best of all, virtually everyone there was wearing a costume! I also got to see a lot of people from high school that I hadn't seen in years so that was a bonus. The host of the party is a DJ so he brought some pretty big dj's from the area and they played sick tunes all night long. Had so much fucking fun.

I wasn't able to get a hold of Joker's mask, but I found one that I thought resembled it the most. I also wore his makeup under it for extra fanboy points. Observe

My brother dressed up as Bane, and my good friend was Scarecrow. That little mic thing on his shirt is actually a voice changer. It gave his voice a deeper, metallic sound and it was fucking awesome hearing him order his drinks like that

Here's one of me and my good friend Patty. I'm superbly drunk in that photo. The make up was cheap to start with, and with all the sweat from dancing and taking my mask on and off so many times throughout the night it pretty much wore off haha.

Patty is pretty short (she's like 5'2 TOPS), but I was able to spot her easily with that big ol' candy corn witch hat hahaha.

That Bane mask is very cool! Made or bought? From that photo, your friend could easily pass for Tom Hardy.

10-29-2012, 12:49 PM
He's my brother, actually! The mask was ordered but it came as a latex / bust one piece so he had to cut out and 'trim' it a bit. He also put metallic silver paint on the tubes so that they look like actual tubes. He was committed, he even shaved his head just for the costume, such was his dedication  (His birthday is actually on Halloween btw)

He has a jacket on in the picture but he was wearing an actual military vest underneath. It looked freakin' SICK.

Epic rant by a friend of mine on Facebook. Can't say I disagree.

Still don't get why my kids cant wear a costume to school. When I was a kid (AND dont even say..things are different now, NO kidding...) you wore your costume if it fell on a school day. We had Halloween parties with cup cakes, cookies, juice, home made goodie bags and sometimes even ordered pizza. The whole school celebrated it and it was fun. Kate had a Halloween party in kindergarten, but since then, they went from celebrating traditional holidays to not even acknowledging the damn holiday.

I think it's a shame that we live in such a society that is so fucking worried about hurting feelings and offending people...Get real! It's insane that the district walks on egg shells worrying that parents will take legal actions because something offends their beliefs or religion. Grow a pair of balls and deal with it! You can't bring in treats from home because of allergies, but let's be real here, what the real concern is IS that some Susie fu...
cking home maker might be off her crazy meds and spike the classroom's cookies with cyanide.

Not everyone is a crazy flipping lunatic. If your kid is allergic to certain things, let them know, tell the teacher, tell the damn school nurse so that the kid isn't given anything that can cause the allergic reaction, but for goodness sake, don't deprive the students of the experience of the holiday, and I don't mean just Halloween either, it goes for every single one the kids aren't allowed to celebrate anymore. I called my son's school this morning to see if I could bring up some store bought treats for Halloween, and the secretary said.."Oh we don't call it Halloween, its referred to as the Fall Festival."....really? You can't even call it Halloween?

My older 2 girls had parties and got to dress up in their costumes when they were in grade school. My wife and I were even allowed to join in the classroom parties and help pass out treats. But my youngest who is now in 5th grade has never gotten that experience and never will.

For the first time since about 1986, I AM NOT TRICK OR TREATING TONIGHT! And I cannot rejoice enough. I hate Halloween.

"Fall Festival" instead of Halloween? Come on! Who could the term "Halloween" possibly offend?

In other news, I spent the day watching movies, carved 2 more pumpkins, and made Halloween cupcakes. :D

That is bullshit. It's Halloween, any resemblance to a religious day was decimated about 200 years ago... GET OVER IT. I even lived in a super-Christian area and everyone was nuts for Halloween. I don't believe in this catering to one weirdo nonsense. If I was a weirdo, I wouldn't expect the entire society to bend over backwards for me.

Point taken though. Gotta wonder sometimes if we are really making the world a better place in some circumstances.

my kids wore their costumes to school today....but they are in jr and high school and their costumes looked like normal clothes. My son went as regenerated 10th doctor wearing 9th doctor's clothes (his friend went as a human dalek) and daughter went as an anime school girl....on a funny note a friend from my high school went as this.https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/281433_4672651021893_23773737_n.jpg

That's the thing now. Parents have complained enough so the schools have decided that if one kid can't have it, nobody can have it. It's the reason they started banning peanut butter in schools too.

The biggest problem is that the kids that were raised this way their entire lives are entering the workforce and expecting their jobs and their bosses to treat them this way too.

A pic of me all dressed up and ready to go for Halloween karaoke last night.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1383124_10202252852583390_992829361_n.jpg

It was a good night. (Karaoke machine didn't have Stand and Deliver or, practically my very theme song, Goody Two Shoes, and me and Kay didn't get a chance to sing Baby When You're Gone by Bryan Adams and Mel C. Maybe next time, though. Awesome night, all the same.)
