Matt
03-23-2009, 11:10 AM
As anticipated, we are announcing our 2009 prize giveaway list for those of you who participated in our Haven Foundation fund raiser this year.

Before you scroll down and have a look, please take a moment to consider the cause and the reason we are able to have this wonderful event.

Every year TheDarkTower.com stands together and raises money for The Haven Foundation. This is no small thing we are doing. Freelance artists enrich our lives in so many ways and we are happy to have the opportunity to give a little back. Our efforts here to recognize and support a need among them is special. We should all be proud. :grouphug:

The list below is provided to you by the diligent work of our staff, the members of this site and the unwavering generosity of the very community we stand to support: free lance artists.

If you have contributed to our fundraiser with a cash or item donation, you will have a chance to win every prize on the giveaway list. The drawing this year is going to be phenomenal.

If you have not had a chance to participate, our fundraiser is still looking for your cash donation. $10.00 gets you a chance at one of the prizes below. The winners will be revealed at our annual director's get together in mid-May.

We are still accepting collectible books. If you have something like this and wish to donate it, please PM any one of the Directors.

I am certain this list will evolve so keep track of this thread and our site's marquee for new info.

Please see our Fund Raiser Forum (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/forumdisplay.php?f=173) for more information on how to donate.

Lisey (pronounced Lee-See) Landon is the widow of an award winning novelist, Scott Landon. In the middle of cleaning out Scott's study, Lisey realizes that there's a great deal about Scott's past (and the past they shared together) that she has blocked out--and with the introduction of a crazy man named Dooley, Lisey must figure out what she's hidden from herself (and what Scott has planned for her) if she's to remain alive. The story is deeply psychological in nature, capturing every essence of the psyche of Lisey as she engages on her quest.

Check out Michael Whelan's site for more information. (http://www.michaelwhelan.com/)

1 - Little Sisters of Eluria, Artist's Edition with remarque
#AC of 4000

The artist edition is signed by Michael Whelen and rather than being numbered is labelled as an artist's copy (AC). This book contains the revised edition of The Gunslinger along with the novella Little Sisters of Eluria. This book is published in a larger format than the Dark Tower series which enhances Michael Whelan’s thirteen full color plates and over twenty three black & white designs. Michael remarqued this item just for our giveaway! The remarque is extremely rare, as Michael only did 30 - 40 remarques out of 4000 copies of the artist's edition.

This particular remarque was done specifically for our fund raiser and falls outside the one's he did for the publisher.

-Generously donated by Michael Whelen.

Thanks to information from a very good friend. I have contacted Jill Bauman and she said she would sign this edition (plus a sketch).

Very nice person.

She is the artist for this edition of the Dead Zone. Looks like she does some beautiful work.

I love this because we are raising money to support Freelance Artists and they are the ones helping us out the most.

Really great community of people.

I have just received my box back from Glenn Chadbourne...I nearly fainted (for real)

He not only signed and remarqued the books but included an illustration that is...I can't even describe it in words.

Posting a pic and adding it to the list soon.

Well, here it is you guys. I'm going to add it into it's spot on the list. This illustration was done by Glenn for our fund raiser.

Obviously the picture does it absolutely no justice. Like I said, it's indescribable in its coolness.

Seriously. Those are some fantastic giveaways. Good job and say thankya. I actually just ordered a custom ring from arroba silver. It's pretty much the same as the one with the Eld symbol, it will have the tower on one side and the two guns on the other, but the one I ordered will have the Ka symbol in place of the Eld sigul.

I am going to go through the thread that has permission to use names and put

"Donated by" next to our giveaway items so those people can start getting some thanks and cyber pats on the back. :grouphug:

Matt - Will you ever do something similar, or even just a list, of those who donated the cool auction items? I, personally, would love to send a thank you to the actual person who did the donating...

... I do understand that some folks want to remain anon, but ... some might not.

Matt
04-22-2009, 07:56 AM
Yep, I plan to publish that list with whomever has given me permission to use there names. I think we have most folks.

There are going to a couple more so I will do it after that. :couple:

The names for the giveaway items have been added. Thanks to everyone who sent me something.

Very special announcement here.

Mike Perkins (who does the artwork on The Stand for Marvel) has contacted me at the SKMB with the sketch of Flagg he pledged for our fund raiser. It is really amazing.

He is also doing a little something else for us that I will reveal soon. :pirate:

The picture of the sketch is going to be added to the list above as soon as possible but for now....here it is. This is an original done specifically for us, a very special collectors item.

OK people, the Grand Prize is still in the works, but I just got it back from Richard Isanove today and it will go on to Robin Furth and then to Stephen King himself.

The best part is I got both Jae Lee and Richard Isanove to draw sketches in the book along with their sigs. Here is the Grand Prize as it stands today:
