:rose:

Awakened I from restless dreams
Which trouble mortals, so it seems;
Now fairly did I try to guess
Their meaning in my restlessness.
Began they innocently thus:
I found myself alone to fuss
When--hold!--no longer lonesome I!
My peepers did perchance to spy
A someone--infant, boy, or man?
Thought I, "I'll guess it if I can."
My notion was that he was all,
Unusual is it to recall.
Whoe'er he was, he saw me not,
But idly cooked the fish he'd caught.
What seemed like hours did pass till he
Did condescend to notice me.
Beseeched me then to watch the heat,
While he took off so fast and fleet.
I flipped his dish as best I could,
While he'd now passed beyond the wood.
And as I let the fire roar,
I watched him travel on the shore
As he did search for precious ore
(Pay now no heed to rhymes of four)
But finding nothing, idly turned
To find his meal quite nearly burned.
Essayed I to apologize,
But rather than address my eyes
He blew upon the blackened catch,
Then, quick as striking yonder match,
He played a merry tune for me,
Upon his instrument to see.
But glad was I when to his boat
He fled--the bleating of a goat
His caterwauling fairly sounded;
Little lost if he were drownded.
Yet I thought I'd guessed his name--
The goose is yours, now tell me same.

Without one, I believe I may make no progress, though if you dont want to give it away just yet.........

The answer is a single word with multiple definitions, and I've provided clues to these definitions throughout the riddle--I tried not to make them too obvious, but I HOPE I haven't made a riddle only I can answer....

The answer is pretty simple, though, and you all are familiar with it--just a matter of getting there.

An excellent riddle, Riddlemaster! And it was not as quick as you say...I thought and thought over it....

Thank you for writing it, your riddles are well metered and remind me of old-world prose.

I'm sure I don't have all of your references but here is what I have...

Awakened I from restless dreams
Which trouble mortals, so it seems; Answer not a mortal...some mythic creature perhaps
Now fairly did I try to guess
Their meaning in my restlessness.
Began they innocently thus:
I found myself alone to fuss
When--hold!--no longer lonesome I!
My peepers did perchance to spy
A someone--infant, boy, or man?
Thought I, "I'll guess it if I can."
My notion was that he was all,
Unusual is it to recall.
Whoe'er he was, he saw me not,
But idly cooked the fish he'd caught.
What seemed like hours did pass till he
Did condescend to notice me.
Beseeched me then to watch the heat,
While he took off so fast and fleet.
I flipped his dish as best I could, Frying pan
While he'd now passed beyond the wood.
And as I let the fire roar,
I watched him travel on the shore
As he did search for precious ore Panning for gold?
(Pay now no heed to rhymes of four)
But finding nothing, idly turned
To find his meal quite nearly burned.
Essayed I to apologize,
But rather than address my eyes
He blew upon the blackened catch, Pan-fried?
Then, quick as striking yonder match,
He played a merry tune for me,
Upon his instrument to see. Pan flute
But glad was I when to his boat
He fled--the bleating of a goat Pan has goat/half man
His caterwauling fairly sounded;
Little lost if he were drownded.
Yet I thought I'd guessed his name--
The goose is yours, now tell me same.

Heh, I don't know if I deserve that title, but thanks! :D And I've just been a big fan of rhyming, metered riddles ever since I became acquainted with The Hobbit. But I guess I'm getting better at it than I realized! :)

Their meaning in my restlessness.
Began they innocently thus:
I found myself alone to fuss
When--hold!--no longer lonesome I!
My peepers did perchance to spy
A someone--infant, boy, or man? Peter Pan, but I'm not too surprised no one got this.
Thought I, "I'll guess it if I can."
My notion was that he was all, "Pan" is Greek for "all"--subtle, but intentional.
Unusual is it to recall.
Whoe'er he was, he saw me not,
But idly cooked the fish he'd caught.

I flipped his dish as best I could, Frying pan

And as I let the fire roar,
I watched him travel on the shore
As he did search for precious ore Panning for gold? Yes!!
(Pay now no heed to rhymes of four)
But finding nothing, idly turned
To find his meal quite nearly burned.
Essayed I to apologize,
But rather than address my eyes
He blew upon the blackened catch, Pan-fried? I'm going to go with that because it works, but I actually didn't think of it!! Thanks!!
Then, quick as striking yonder match,
He played a merry tune for me,
Upon his instrument to see. Pan flute I was thinking "panpipes," but yes.
But glad was I when to his boat
He fled--the bleating of a goat Pan has goat/half man
His caterwauling fairly sounded;
Little lost if he were drownded.
Yet I thought I'd guessed his name--
The goose is yours, now tell me same.

Other than my comments, you got them all! :D Congratulations!

You wrote a good riddle, you have the title just like the rest of us. You are obligated to bear the shame! :P

Good job...kinda sucks though, when you put so much effort into them and they are in the record books in 48 hours or so.
Build on the experence.
