At the court:

- Did you go stealing money from that house with your dad and with your grand-dad?
- Yeah, they both were there. - said John.
- But how old is your grand-dad? Isn't he a little bit old for that?
- No, not at all. - said John - My grand-dad is 10 years older than my dad.
- Are you serious? Don't try to fool my, my son. - the judge started to get angry.
- I am saying the truth. - answered John calmly.
- But it's impossible! No question.

I concur with the belief that the Grandfather in question is John's maternal Gandfather. It's the first thing that occured to me.

It reminded me of the riddle where the boy and his father got into an accident and were taken to separate hospitals. When the doctor comes in to operate on the boy, the doctor says "I can't operate on this boy. He's my son." And you're supposed to figure out that it's not his father, but his mother... to test how stereotypical your thoughts are on what roles are appropriate for women. Anyway...that was way off the trail... :D

Aye. I heard that one in 6th grade. I guessed it the first try, whispered it to my teacher, and it took 20 minutes before they gave up. Obviously they were pissed cuz I knew it and they were all a bunch of dumbasses.
Which is why I was surprised i didn't see the answer.
