I can't rightly remember...I believe it was a friend that just wouldn't shut up about them until I read the series. =) Good thing he didn't give up on me.

That's a tough one...I don't think I can decide, but I COULD narrow it down to Eldred, Oy, or Flagg.

That's another really hard one...ermm.....I think I'll just go ahead and say that the final three, bundled together, are my favorites.

I started reading the Dark Tower series maybe 3 months ago, and I just finished it this past week.


How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I was at a Half Price Books store looking for The Stand when I also found The Gunslinger which I'd barely heard anything about, but I was curious about it since it's supposed to be King's magnum opus. It's a much shorter book so I decided to start reading it first and I couldn't put it down. I just kept getting the other books one after another, and still haven't started The Stand, lol.

That's a tough one... probably Eddie Dean

What is your favorite book?
My favorite book in the series is The Waste Lands.

So anyway, I'm out of Dark Tower books (unless, of course, I start reading The Stand, Insomnia, etc), and I don't know anyone personally who has read it (that I know of), so I found this place to get my Dark Tower fix. Now I feel better. :excited:

I love Stephen King's books and was on the prowl for more of his work. I believe I picked up "The Gunslinger" at a resale shop for a quarter. TBH the first time I read it I found it horribly boring. A few months later I was looking for something to read and decided to give TG another try. This time I paid a bit more attention to it and a page at the end informed me that there was another book following Roland in "Drawing of the Three." I also happened to find this one secondhand.

The rest, as they say, is history :D I just finished re-reading the series for the 2nd time a few days ago.

I'm one of those people who read The Gunslinger when it first came out. I thought it was fine. The opening line was great - compelling - but I couldn't like Roland. After all, he let Jake fall.. So, yeah, t was good.... But there were other literary worlds than that for me. Read the second and third books in the Dark Tower Cycle, but they were library reads, not Barnes and Noble purchases. Wizards and Glass seemed to stand alone, but it grabbed me again. Then I waited, oh so impatiently I waited, for Sai King to complete his tale. I thought he did so brilliantly. Favorite character? hmmm... I guess it would be Stephen King as a version of himself. The concept struck me as (here's that word again) brilliant.

I'm afraid that I've forgotten the rest of the questions. The product of a misspent youth, probably. I think I'll wander off and browse, but wanted to say hello. I'll try really hard to be a good guest.

I have heard that bbq-kittens are quite popular, but in my opinion this just cooks all the flavor out of them. I prefer to eat them raw and while the meat is still fresh, though I will settle for smoked kittens with a bowl of fruit on the side if I'm in a pinch. It's also no secret that I love ketchup all over my kittens, regardless of how they're cooked. In fact, now that I think of it, I like ketchup on pretty much anything...

And @ Matt...ah, I see. The way forward is clear, now. ;)

Been reading King since I was given Night Shift when I was 10. Was given the whole series Xmas before last, so finally got to read them all! Write another seven, SK! Before another minivan finishes the job!

Who is your favorite character? Bango Skank, of course. He's already been everywhere, and left his mark to prove it. Or Eddie, the man who could talk the devil into setting himself on fire.

What is your favorite book? In the series, Wizard and Glass. Started to think it was a soppy love story but grew on me. Favourite recently read, Judas Unchained by Peter F. Hamilton.

By chance I was browing the paperbacks and saw the Signet edition of The Gunslinger. I picked up it as well as The Shinning. It took me a couple of reads to fully get into it. Hi. I found the site a little while back but never had the chance to do anything other than register. I hope I can change that now that I have a little more time on my hands. Now, on to the questions!

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

My uncle had a TPB version of The Gunslinger on his shelf and I loved the cover so once I got old enough to read King I took the time to read the book and have been hooked ever since.

Who is your favorite charcter?

I would have to say Eddie although picking a favorite is like asking someone what they like better, ice cream or more ice cream!

What is your favorite book?

The Waste Lands is easily my favorite. I think that book was really the first time I started realizing how the Dark Tower was going to connect King's world's and it was truly an amazing revelation.

How did you discover The Dark Tower?

Well it was an accident really ( or was it who can say?) I was waiting for my issue of the Dune Anthology and then finding out that it didn't come in,so I was about to leave the bookstore,I trip on their welcome mat and knocked over a book rack,I felt so bad in wrecking the ladies display so I went to help,as I was helping her I saw The Gunslinger by Stephen King so I opened it up to read what's it's about and since then I became a devoted reader of the sieries.

Who is your favourite Character?
I would have to say Mordred Deschain,as to why I picked him is because he's a loner throughout the last book and so in a way I feel the same cause I've been a loner in my childhood days.

The Drawing Of The Three.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I had heard about it online, so I gave its Wikipedia entry a quick once-over. I felt like reading some new fiction, and I had never read a Stephen king before this, so I gave the books a try. This was about five months ago.

Eddie, definitely. I liked him as soon as I heard him use the term "great sage and eminent junkie".

What is your favorite book?
The Wastelands, just for Jake's story. I've been a pretty anxious person for the last year or two, so hearing a story about a young boy, under immense pressure and going insane, going truant and finding the rose, made that few chapters some of my favorites in any book.
