i don't know....it just feels right. Maybe it's Roland dancing. Maybe it was the appearance of Andy in the first few pages, or perhaps it was when Oy bows and says Gilead. For me it was just the most emotionally charged book. But I gotta say drawing of the three is a close second.

Wolves is great, in a way, wolves is where the 2nd half of the story launches.

I see it that way too Zone. I enjoy each of the book separately, but a few times now I have done re-reads of 1-4 as if they were one, then 5-7 as if they were one. the writing and pacing is different in the last three, not in a bad way, just different. the earlier go nicely together, the last three complement one another as well.

I have been an avid reader of SK since I was 12, (my older sister had a large collection). I started reading some and she got me the first three books on my 16th birthday. Read the first line of the first book and was immediately hooked.

I was helping my parents clean out my brother's old bedroom & found this cool looking book in his closet. You know how they say you can't judge a book by it's cover? Well, they're wrong. I said to myself, "This looks interesting...." I was already a huge S.K. fan, but I had been under the impression that these were sci-fi (outer-spacey like) for some odd reason. The book was Wizard & Glass, just a few months after it had come out. I was hooked. I made my bro bring me the first three when he came home from college. When I finished them, I hadn't realized that King hadn't finished the series. I re-read them over & over & over until finally Wolves was released. I can now die happy!

Well I kinda introduced myself in another thread but I probably should do it officially here. I have actually been a silent lurker here for a few months now. However I have been a fan of Rolands since the week 'The Gunslinger' was first released and yes I had one of those precious first edition copies as well as that of 'The Drawing of the Three'. At that time I was a serious King fan having gotten addicted to him from 'The Shinning'. From there and for several years I managed to get King's book the week of release.

However shortly after 'Drawing of the Three', skiing and school took charge of my life and I decided that I would wait till the day when/if King ever finished the Dark Tower series (at that time he was not sure he could live long enough to do it.) Well 'The Dark Tower' (Book 7) came and went and I was so busy with work I never managed to get the chance to read everything till I suffered vision problems forcing me off the computer. Reading books however was something I could do so starting last December I started to read the entire series and have once again fallen in love with Roland and his Ka-Tet.
Being a computer graphic artist I have decided to do a ton of Dark Tower related artwork, sadly I'm once again back in school and taking one heck of a heavy course load so the progress is going slow but hopefully I'll be able to share some of that work with you all real soon.

Ive been reading Kings work since I was about 12, but only tackled the tower last year. It always seemed like quite a undertaking to begin.

I'm clearly glad I finally did though. I read the entire series the first time in about 6 weeks.

I have no recollection of 'discovering' The Dark Tower series, was always something that was in the back of my mind that I would eventually get around to reading. I think it was an interview with sai King in which I first read about it but that was many years ago. So finally bought all seven just after xmas. I loved them all dearly.

Well I found them to be very entertaining first and foremost. They are exciting, challenging, and very spiritual. Kind of like a good Bob Dylan track, i.e theres fun to be had but so much more if it suits you.
They are certainly the greatest series of books that Ive ever read (huge fan of Bukowski, Fowles, and Herbert). Loved Northern Lights and LOTR etc but this was just...more. They never let go of my mind even when I wasnt reading them. The concept of the books in general opens unlimitless possibilities, they are great brain food.

I've been reading King since I was 12, but everyone had compared the dark tower books to lord of the rings and things like that. I'm not a fan of lotr, so I never read the books. Eventually I was 19, unemployed and not sleeping. I needed something to do until 6am, so I started reading them and got hooked.
