Hi everyone! I just signed up a few minutes ago and I'm really excited to be here... although I probably won't be an active poster at first I'm not yet finished the series... but I became such an immediate junkie that I had to at least go out and find some people like me.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
My ex boyfriend's mom talked to me about it like crazy telling me she'll lend me the books and I'll love them, but we broke up soon after so I never got to borrow them. A few months later I went and bought the Gunslinger and now I understand her enthusiasm. I haven't been able to stop reading them since.

Who is your favorite charcter?
It's really hard to say because I haven't had the full spectrum of them all yet, but I think it would have to be Eddie. I can relate to him the most and I think he developed really well so far.

What is your favorite book? Wizard and Glass... but yeah I have one more to go so I'm not quite sure.

How old are you? I'm 26

Where are you from? Pennsylvania USA

See you all around I hope!

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I have had the Gunslinger for quite a long time, and I had read it but that was five years or more ago and I was still a teenager who didn't care much for anything. However within the last six months I decided to read it again, and lets just say Ka came like a wind and I was hooked.

Who is your favorite charcter?

Well Roland Deschain of Gilead, of course. He's the man and he's my favorite character of any book I have ever read.

What is your favorite book?

The Wolves, just by a little though. I really like how secret a lot of things were kept clear up until the end, and then in a few short chapters it all came together. I also liked Wizard and Glass because it showed you where Roland came from, and It shows you what happened to make Roland who he is. I felt so sorry for him, he went through so much.

How old are you?

Twenty Two

Where are you from?

Wallsburg UT. About an hour drive from Salt Lake City

To The Dark Tower Came
12-21-2007, 11:40 AM
I've been a lurker for a spell, reading here and there. I'm coming to the series a little late in the game, and haven't finished the last book as of yet. I am about 1/4 the way through, and am trying to steal time when I can to finish it without hurrying.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

Been a fan of Stephen King for a long long while, now. I spent some time on other books, until I picked up The Gunslinger. I actually didn't like it as much until I re-read it...or rather listened to it in book on tape format. I was hooked from then on and haven't read anything else for the last year, savoring the books.

Who is your favorite charcter?

I don't really have a single favorite. Every main character has good and bad traits.

What is your favorite book?

Wolves of Calla. It's very cinematic in it's presentation. More so than the others I think.

How old are you?

34

Where are you from?

Winter Park, Florida

Do you have a nickname?

Does "the defendant" count?

I discovered the Dark Tower when I was about thirteen. My dad left it lying around and I couldn't figure out if it was a western or what. I read it in one sitting after skimming the back flap.

My favorite character is Roland. (I also love Jack Sawyer and was hoping like mad he would show up in the series, but...) I empathize with a character that embodies one who has learned to accept their brutal destiny as a matter of course. Roland's redeeming factors have become some of my own (at least I would like to think so).

My favorite book fluctuates. The pendulum swings most frequently over the Gunslinger. I have revisited certain scenes and passages quite frequently over the years from all of the books..."The girl at the window" comes immediately to mind.

I am almost 26 years old.

I am from various towns in North Carolina.

My nickname in college was "Socrates"

Friend of mine from another site suggested that I visit here. Haven't done any exploring yet. I have read the series twice. I am sure once my maternity leave begins I will pick it up once again. I really enjoy being able to meet people with similar interests. I don't meet too many people from this area who love to read Stephen King like I do. Yes, a few, but not many. The Dark Tower is just so good. You can't stop once you start, even if you have read it before.
I am a full time working mother, fixing to be mom again. I have been married for 8 1/2 yrs and have a six yr old son. I grew up in a small town in Southwest Louisiana, and live about 20 minutes away from there. Don't have time for much other than work and family. Nice to meet you.

I love Stephen King books, but sadly, I haven't read a new one since DTVII! Been too busy with the family stuff. My favorite King books that don't have the words "Dark Tower" anywhere in the title are The Talisman and Black House. My dirty little secret is that Dreamcatcher is right behind those two.

I'm glad this site was created and I'm glad the person who led me here did that. It's been a while, but it's fun to talk about The Dark Tower once again. I started reading the Gunslinger again this weekend and am going to plow through all seven in the next few months, if I can.

I am 14 years old and I live in Ireland. I am not through the series yet, but so far I would say that my favorite character is the Man in Black. I am a huge SK fan and I can't remember reading anything but his work.

Great to meet you obscure, welcome to the site. I love what you said about Roland up there, I feel much the same way about him.

Nice to meet you too cma--sounds like you have your hands full. I bet The Dark Tower is going to be a great pocket escape for you once again. I'm thinking of starting over the series myself.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
A good friend loaned me his copy of the original trade paperback.

Who is your favorite charcter?
This is going to sound like a copout, but it really depends on my mood. However, Cuthbert and Oy have very special places in my heart.

What is your favorite book?
Again, it depends on my mood. If forced to choose, I'd die like Sir Galahad in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

How old are you?
44

Where are you from?
At the moment? Panhandle of Florida.

Do you have a nickname?
Many. Woof or Woofer is the most common. I recently discovered I am also known as "the Cthulhu lady" to a coworker's friends.

Thankee sai - and especially for the cool welcome wolf graphic. That is great!

Alas, that is not my beloved Lucy (RIP), shown here (http://home.comcast.net/~darkfool/images/beachrun.jpg) with Nick (RIP), a Corgi-cross. The avatar Sibe's mask is very much like Lucy's was when she was a young lady.

At the moment, I am a Woofer overrun with cats! Hubby has a fondness for the critters and a pregnant female wandered up just about the time our Lucy got sick. Long story shortened (a bit) - we are now housing eight cats from two pregnant females and have placed four others. It's been an interesting adjustment for a dog person. http://home.comcast.net/~darkfool/images/werewolf_smilie.gif

I hope we will be able to get another Siberian Husky, but we would never bring one to Florida. All our pets are rescues and we lucked out big big on a Sibe. They are remarkable dogs!

It's funny. I've been reading the DT books for 20 years, I've lurked around various DT sites off and on over the past few years, and I even registered for one once (I forget which one it was, say sorry), but until now I had never actually posted. Sucked in! :P

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
Exploring the Stephen King shelves at a used bookstore, I found an old copy of The Gunslinger. While I didn't pick it up at the time, the concept stayed in my imagination and I finally began to read the series in 2004 as the final three books were being published. Fortunately for me, I only had to wait months rather than decades for the story to be completed.

Who is your favorite character?
Roland really sticks out in my mind. I don't know if you'd call him a favorite, because I'm often not sure I like him. As far as most likeable character, I'd say Eddie. Still, there's something about Roland.

What is your favorite book?
I really enjoyed the Stephen King section of "Song of Susannah," but I prefer "The Dark Tower" over all seven. The entire novel was an incredible ride with an astonishing finish. I liked the ending because it was unexpected, and yet seemed to fit perfectly somehow. "Wizard and Glass" is a favorite as well.

How old are you?
31.

Where are you from?
Currently living in the Kansas City area, though I'm originally from Colorado Springs.

do you have a nickname?
Lord Vertigo.

im an american male, i live in a small area of VT in a rather large town that i will not name for the moment.

i discovered the Dark Tower though my dad, who was the first to hand me The Gunslinger. ive read only 2 non-Dark Tower Stephen King books and am working on a third.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
Working late nights @ a data entry center. I listened to the first 4 books on audiotape. That was in 1996. I eventually bought all the books.
Who is your favorite charcter?
It's gotta be Cuthbert. Don't know why.
What is your favorite book?

How old are you?
Turned 30 on October 4th.
Where are you from?
Born and raised in North Dakota.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

Hmm, i think it was last year, I heard about how good of a writer Stephen King was, so I decided to read one of his books, and of course the book that I chose to read was The Gunslinger. I have been hooked since.

Who is your favorite charcter?

My favorite character would have to be Eddie because he always tries to cheer people up with his sarcasm, or atleast tries to, and he always puts things in a good perspective.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book would have to be, The Wastelands.

How old are you?

Well, I've been a fan of The Dark Tower for quite some time now, and while I started my DT community experience with the dt.net, I am also here now, hoping to make new friends, and possibly run in to some old ones as well.

I'm not a mean person, and despite what my signature says, I am not sexist or racist; I just believe in freedom of speech and opinion, and those two "movements" I have listed try to stop that, so I'm just being honest, basically, lol.

Anyway, I hope to have fun here, and look forward to getting to know all of you.

You see a door in front of you.

And so I go forth into a world that has moved on...

Greetings. *tips hat*

This multiverse that King has created is engrossing, enchanting, and fascinating. I came to this world rather late. In fact, it was just before the final book was released. I'm very grateful to my wife for introducing it to me.

I am your contemporary geek. I game both online and with dice. I photoshop, mix music, and write. There's nothing special about me. I just am.

I'm in the middle of my second reading of the series. My missus asked me to figure out if there's a pen and paper RPG for the world of The Dark Tower. Since I didn't find any, I'm creating a bootlegged version with the World of Darkness D10 system.

And yes, once it's playtested it will be made available to whomever asks. The only condition I will give is that it is distributed freely. Stephen King has turned down two offers to make this into a playable game, so I do not want to ruffle his feathers. ( Read: I do not want to be sued. )

Saw Jon in the members list and thought I shouldn't try to confuse, so I opted for a combo of first and middle name, but after looking at it... well, it just didn't taste right.

So anyways.... Thanks again Matt!

hi SentWest!!!!!!!!!!!!

Walter says it's too late to send invitations for the funeral of .net (which is what I was about to do), there's a theory that it is just being transferred to a new server. Anyway, even if it survives (which I hope and pray for), it certainly can't prevent you or me or anyone else from living here, too - it's like acquiring a new beautiful palace, with garden and all, in addition to your old family house which you don't have to part with, either.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I was in the Army getting ready to do a tour in Iraq and needed some good reading. This was my second tour and knowing how valuable good books can be over there, I bought the first 4 books in the series. Been hooked on it ever since.
Who is your favorite charcter?

Even thought this is probably the most unoriginal answer, but I have to say Roland.

What is your favorite book?

Favorite all time book is "Without Remorse" by Tom Clancy, but "The Waste lands" is my favorite of the series.

How old are you?

26

Where are you from?

Originally from the Chicago area, but now located in Minnesota by St. Paul.

Hey guys and gals, I just joined so i figured this should be my first stop.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I discovered The Gunslinger when I was a freshman in high school and I've been hooked ever since. It was the first King book I had read and after that I couldn't stop.

Who is your favorite charcter?

Wow, that's a hard one. With a series like this it's hard because they don't feel like characters, they feel like people you've known and spent a lot of time with, so they're all up there on my list. But if I had to at least narrow it down it would be either Roland, Jake, or Walter

What is your favorite book?

The Gunslinger and Wizard and Glass

How old are you?

22

Where are you from?

Rhode Island

do you have a nickname?

not really, I just go by Steve

How did you discover the Dark Tower? throught the comics. I hated eyes of the dragon when i read it in high school, so i put off the darkt tower thinking it would be too similiar. When the comics came out i was really surprised and enjoyed the story. So I found the gunslinger in the prop shop of the UH theatre, and read through it in two days.

Who is your favorite charcter? i don't think i can answer this question. I think I'm a lot like Eddie, but I enjoy so many of the characters it's too hard to pick just one.

What is your favorite book?(in the series) Wolves of the Calla. otherwise, The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend.

How old are you? 20

Where are you from? Born in Minnesota, raised in South Dakota. Going to school in Hawai'i

do you have a nickname? not that I'm aware of.

My brother got his appendix removed about ten years ago and a buddy of his gave him Wizard and Glass to read. I stole it. Of course, I went back to the beginning and read the rest the right way.
Who is your favorite charcter?
Cuthbert.
What is your favorite book?
Wizard and Glass. The one that started the obsession.
How old are you?
