Another big time newbie here! Just finished the Dark Tower and I am out all over the internet looking for Dark Tower discussion! So I will do my best to answer the questions. :)

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
At the end of 2004 I read my first King book on a whim, The Stand, and I was blown away. My father had told me that he had also read The Talisman and Black House and thought that if I liked The Stand that much, then I would also like those. After finishing the Talisman and Black House I was needing a fix of more King so I went out to Amazon and kept becoming intrigued by the writeups for the Dark Tower series. After a year of pensiveness and procrastination I decided to make the purchase while I could still find some hardcovers. I bought the first 4 books, and told my parents I would like the other 3 for Christmas. After I had all 7 books, and procrastinated a little more I began the long journey with Roland to the Dark Tower, and after a little over a year I finally have finished.

Who is your favorite charcter?
Roland

What is your favorite book?
In the Dark Tower series I would have to say either Drawing of the Three or Wizard and Glass

How old are you?
27 at the moment

Where are you from?
I currently hail from St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

How did you discover The Dark Tower?

From my Gr. 8 teacher, Mr. Brice. He ranted and raved about it and then one day I just decided to pick it up to sate him an was completely surprised that it was any good. Turned out to be the most rewarding series I ever read.

Who is your favorite character?

Of the DT universe? Eddie for sure.

What is your favorite book?

Hard choice, probably....uhmmm.....
Pfft.
DT3? Maybe?

How old are you?

17 minus a month.

Where are you from?

Aurora, Ontario. The big A dot.

do you have a nickname?

Only to my 'closest' friends *wink*

Oh and if any of you remember Timegrewelastic from tdt.net, that would be me. Feel free to call me Kevin!

Hello :) I signed up as ka's wind on dt.net, but I can never get the darn site to work for me so I followed someone over here.

How did you discover The Dark Tower? I had taken a break from reading for a really long time... (like, since I got out of highschool? haha) and I decided to get into it again, so I won a lot of 14 S.K. books on eBay for like $5. In that lot I had DT2, 3 & 5. I just kept them off to the side because I figured I would never buy the others. Well I ended up reading all of the others, and my boss raved to me how awesome the DT series was so I picked up #1 at the library...and that's how I came to be a DT junkie :)

Who is your favorite charcter? This is a tough question! While the story of Roland and Susan is my favorite part of the series, I really don't think either are my favorite characters. I want to say either Eddie or Jake. Eddie because of his sense of humor which is so like my own; Jake because he was forced to grow up earlier than other kids his age, which I also can relate to.

What is your favorite book? Wizard and Glass, definitely

How old are you? I'll be 24 December 30th!

Where are you from? At the moment I live at the Jersey Shore, but I'm in the process of moving to the Poconos...and I can't wait!

Do you have a nickname? Not really, you can just call me Annie.

I guess I should answer the questions like everyone else...

How did you discover The Dark Tower?

I was looking for another long adventure story to read after finishing The Lord of The Rings and told my wife that I might try The Dark Tower by Stephen King. She ended up getting the first three for me as her gift of paper for our first wedding anniversary. She didn't realize she was going to create an addict. That was only six months before the last book came out. Basically, I read books one to six straight through, read most of the connecting books while waiting for the final installment, and then read book seven within days of it coming out.

Who is your favorite character?

That is really tough because they all add so much to the story. However, I will go with Roland because it is his quest after all.

What is your favorite book?

The Wizard And The Glass is the first to come to mind mainly because of the flashback. Ironically, I think that if they ever make a Dark Tower series of movies that is one of the parts that must be really cut down. The Gunslinger is a very close second.

How old are you?

28 (but I feel every bit like 40 sometimes, damn work!)

Where are you from?

Texas (no, I do not ride a horse nor am I responsible for W)

do you have a nickname?

Rube

How did you discover The Dark Tower?
My friend's mom had actually bought him a bunch of King's books and he wasn't reading The Gunslinger atm so I borrowed it and read it. Fell in love with the series ever since then.

Who is your fav. character?
Jake has to be my fav. just cause he was so young in the story but dealt with everything and turned into a badass lol. Walter O'dimm is a close second though.

What is your fav. book?
From the series I liked Wizard and Glass best becuase it went back to when he was younger and finally gave you more insight into his friends Allain and Cuthbert. Both were a big part of Roland's story so I really liked getting to read about them more.

How old are you?
19, but 20 in Feb.

Where from?
Granger, Indiana all my life.

Do you have a nickname?
Friends call me Jake I guess. But I used to use O'dimm actually as my tag when I was big into video games.

hello, i like all the dark tower books. the first i read of them was the short story about the nurses of elvira? i had seen my dads copy of the gunslinger but never was interested until recently. I have loved sk for a while, and i wish i would have read these books sooner. drawing of the three and wolves of the calla are probably my favorite ones but i cant say for sure b/c i have only read them all once (except drawing of the three which i read twice). I also really enjoy the long walk (sk as bachman) and i am currently reading needful things and am almost done with it. Eddie and Cuthbert are my two favorite characters, and this is not suprising since they are so much alike. I loved reading about Eddie's struggles with heroin-brilliantly done. Long live the gunslinger!

I have been a Stephen King fan most of my conscience life. When I was a small child horror movies were my favorite and my mom raised me on Pet Semetary, Cujo, Children of the Corn, and such. When I got old enough to read real books one of my first was Stephen King and I have been a fan ever since.

How did you discover The Dark Tower? The Gunslinger was one of only two King books in my school's library when I was a kid. It was my first Stephen King book

Who is your favorite charcter? Roland, I have never been as powerfully attached to any character in literature as I am to Roland

What is your favorite book? My favorite Dark Tower book is a toss up between Wizard and Glass and The Waste Lands. My favorite non Tower book is The Stand. My favorite non King book is any and all of the Harry Potter books or mayhap To Kill A Mockingbird

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I've been a fan since the early 1990's. I picked up The Gunslinger when my sister was a Johns Hopkins with leukemia.

Who is your favorite charcter?
I think they all bring something to the table. It's hard to pin that on any one character in the books.

What is your favorite book?
In the DT series? I'd say the first.

How did you discover the Dark Tower? I always saw the listings of the DT books when I read King novels. One day in 2004, I saw "The Gunslinger" on a shelf at a stoer and bought it out curiousity.

Who is your favorite charcter?Roland and Flagg

What is your favorite book? "Wizard and Glass", only because Roland's origin was better explained.

How old are you?36

Where are you from?New York City

Also, hail to all!

Hi guys(and gals) !

I'm Jasko from Norway, he coldest country in the world! Here's some info about me!

How did you discover The Dark Tower?

Well,I was looking for a good crime book to read, at the book store. When i came over Stephen Kings DT: The Gunslinger. (Which actually is not crime at all) I bought the book and was amazed right away. Now that's 2 months ago. Just finished reading the three first books, and I did that in Norwegian. I've now ordered books 1-5 in English and will start at book 4. (The reason for ordering 1-5 is that I want the whole collection in English).

So I was thinking for myself that it would be great to find a site where they had forums so that we could discuss the books, and I wanted an active forums, so I did a small google search and found you guys! Hope to stick for a while! ;-D

Who is your favorite character?

I must say it's Eddie so far. Although I've always loved characters like Roland!
As I mentioned earlier I've just read the first three books, so I guess I got some more characters to get to know? :)

What is your favorite book?

So far, without a doubt, it's "Wastelands". But still got 4 books to read!

How old are you?

I'm 21 years of age! :-P

Where are you from?

As mentioned earlier I'm living in Norway. Although I am born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I'm planing to move to Hungary in August 2008 to study medicine.

Do you have a nickname?

Yepp, and it's JasKo :-) So you may call me "Jas"(Spelled "Jaz") or just Jasko :)

I'm looking forward to spend a lot of time here! :-)

Mister E

Hi, I'm Mr. E. Lovely to be here. Couple things you should know about me:

1) I'm actually a professional (seriously, I'm shocked too).
2) The Dark Tower is my favorite series of books. They should be teaching this stuff in college (and probably will in ten years or so).
3) I enjoy my music. Especially the classic rock, as the kids call it these days. But I dabble in the jazz and the folk.
4) I do not have either nipple pierced. No tatts either. Total boy scout.
5) Women- pro-women. God save the queen.
6) I'm obsessed with that Showtime show Jeremiah. Its like crack for your brain.
7) DC's The New Frontier is one of the best comic books to come out in recent memory.
8) [Smiley face interlude]
9) I enjoy the occasional drink on occasion.
10) If I could trade in my blackberry for a super-intelligent monkey that followed me around the office with a rotary phone on a platter...I would.

:nana:

Hi, my name is Matt and I'm from northwest Washington. I was a lurker and infrequent poster over at .net for the last couple of years. I've been an avid reader since I was a little kid and discovered The Dark Tower about 4 or 5 years ago. I read the series over a couple of years and was blown away. Probably the best tale I've ever read.

Hey everyone, saw this thread and decided I should probably put my own 2 cents in. I've posted in a couple other threads, too. Anyhoo, my name is Michelle and I live in good 'ol Montana but I'm from NY. On with the questions!

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I first read Sisters of Eluria a while ago and I just HAD to read more about Roland and his travels.

Who is your favorite charcter?
Uh..Roland, I guess thats pretty apparent from my last answer XD

What is your favorite book?
I think The Drawing of the Three is my favorite at the moment only because so much happens in that book and some seriously funny things happen to Roland (Ex. He drinks soda and freaks out lol oh and can't forget the Astin hehe)

How old are you?
I'm 23 but my b-day is in exactly one month ^.^

Where are you from?
I'm from upstate NY

do you have a nickname?
A lot of my friends call me Chelle ^.^

Well there it is, hope it's not too long :)

Hile postslingers!

I am Daniel of California, and I have followed Roland relentlessly over the series of The Dark Tower along with his short tale in "Everything's Eventual" 'The Sisters of Eluria'. I look forward to taking upon trail of this tet that I have decided to join up with... I just hope that you all will find me worthy to come along on the journey.

I know it seems kind of strange, but through reading the magnum opus set forth by Stephen King many times... I have come to take on some of their talk and mannerism's if it do ya. ;)

Anyway, I think I'm going to enjoy my time here. Hopefully, I can see myself with you all until the clearing at the end of the path.

My name's Nathan,I'm 18... I'm a Gemini and like long walks on the beach... Just kidding.
In my own group for ultimate destruction, i go by Heresy.
I was introduced to the Dark Tower shortly after my mother suffered an aneurysm.(SP) My brother pulled me aside while i was looking through the Hospital's little library- a total of half a book shelf- and said that when I got older, that this book would change my life. I was six at the time, and it took me 10 years to find it again but once I did, I never looked back. Sappy story? possibly. But I regret none of it.
My favorite book is Wizard and Glass, and I love to see the comic illustrations from Marvel along with it. Out of the seven, Song of Susannah is my least favorite.

Hi guys. My names Alan from Melbourne, Australia and i've been following the Dark Tower books since i first started reading Kings work at the tender age of 11 (and its been many a year since then). I've only just found this site and HAD to join! Hope all is well with everyone and hope to get into some fevered DT discussions in the future.

Long days and pleasant nights people:cowboy:

Welcome, I'm fairly new here as well but I know a bunch of these people from another world.

I think you will find this place very nice, with tons of cool people.

Also, you should talk to a fella named Zoneseek, he is also from Australia. I'm sure all you guys know each other over there.

Wow, I now know 2 people form Australia. If I'm ever chosen to get a boat and collect 2 people from every country, I'm all set for Australia.

THANK THE LORD MAN JESUS

You don't know what its been like man, having to tolerate all of this american crap and bad spelling. AND THE MEXICAN ASWELL! *throws limes at nando*. Years. Its been years. There was a kiwi guy once, at another site, but thats it. Maybe I can stop abusing valium now to numb myself from the situation :)

Now the two of you can sit back and crack open a nice cold Fosters.....

That's not a sappy story, it's a great story about how you started on a great journey. I wish I had a story like that about how I first discoverd the Dark Tower.

Also, is your Mom okay?

It's been a few days since I've come back to this forum, cry pardon

No, it's The Bodyguard (Yojimbo, 1961 - by Kurosawa, of course). A real masterpiece, not so deep as Seven Samurai, but truly wonderful.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
- Through the short story "Low Men in Yellow Coats" in the Hearts in Atlantis collection. Did some research on the internet, started reading, and became an addict immediately :)

Who is your favorite charcter?
- I haven't finished the series yet so I can't say for sure, but so far I relate the most to eddie, being that I'm an opioid addict too. And I'm not a dumpster diving, homeless hobo with no education either. Media portrayal of addicts is BS. I'm a smart guy overall - I've been so curious to find out stuff about stuff ever since I can remember, and I'm a naturally creative thinker. I totally understand how eddie must have felt withdrawing in the dope-less All World. Although apparently they've got mescaline, lol.

What is your favorite book?
-So far, The Drawing of the Three (out of the first 3 books). It's just a joy ride in fiction, and a great mix of literature and fun. I did like the gunslinger though... it was pretty abstract and poetic. The part where Jake fell under the mountain made me cry.

How old are you?
18

Where are you from?
New Windsor, NY, not far from NYC.

do you have a nickname?
not officially, but i've been called some strange things from time to time, usually variations of my numerous forum nicknames.
