Long days and pleasant nights fellow forumers, I started reading the Dark Tower series 2 years ago at the wonderful age of 19 and have slowly made me way to Part VI, and as the end draws closer I feel like I should connect with other fans of the series. I've been reading the series on and off for the past 2 years as I like to spread series' out a bit so that it can last longer, and I can say the Dark Tower is a series of books I do not wish to end, I love the series so far, though I feel that the story has lost it's way at the point which I am at (Roland and Eddie meeting Stephen King), and I look forward to sharing my interest with you guys.

Be sure to read the related DT books like Black House, Insomnia and of course TWTTKH. Also the short story Little Sisters of Eluria. You can ID related books in King's "other books" page that are in bold.

Thanks for the information, I will definitely have to read the related books once I've finished the main series, hopefully they will somewhat fill the void I know will be there.

Hi, I am Peso. Think I am the newest here, well at least as of the 7th of July 2014, 1:36 PM, time from the Philippines. I am in the office now, and writing this during work hours. Haha.

I just "finished" the Dark Tower series (I - VII, haven't read "The Wind Through the Keyhole" yet) last night. Well, just this past midnight. And yes, 12 midnight, and it was kind of a lucky odd chance to finish it on the very start of a new day. Odd as in Odd's Lane.

My very purpose in joining the community is because I need souls to speak with. After I finished book VII, it kept me wide awake, mind-hallowed. It's like, "WTF was that?" So I was thinking I need somebody to talk too. Haha. Well, more of my feelings when I soon shared my thoughts via the threads.

I saw this as the very top thread, and I see the need to oblige to the rules. Never hesitated to reply on this. Glad to be here. :)

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
On college I started collecting Stephen King books, out of plain nowhere. My first book was Hearts in Atlantis. Then I googled a complete list of his works, then started buying a copy of each I saw. That means the "discovery" of the Dark Tower is just really a routine in my complete act of collecting. In fact my copy of The Gunslinger is a gift from my girl.

It was until when somebody urged me to start reading the series so I would know what happened next to Ted Brautigan (and the other characters from his other books like Father Callahan), that get my curiosity in the series fired up.

Who is your favorite character?
Alain Johns. Did somebody picked him up besides me? haha.
Second is Ted Brautigan. (Third is Eddie Dean.)

What is your favorite book?
Among the series, it's The Drawing of the Three.
For his complete works so far, it's Hearts in Atlantis.

How old are you?
25

Where are you from?
Quezon City, Philippines.

do you have a nickname?
I do. "Peso" is actually a nickname I tagged myself.

how did you find this site?
Plain googling.

So there. Once again, I'm glad to be part of this community. And I apologize if, based from my answers above, I am more of a Hearts-in-Atlantis-guy.

First write-up, too long. :p

Who is your favorite charcter?

Roland, Clint Eastwood meets Ben Kenobi though I am more like Eddie.

What is your favorite book?

The one I just finished, so now its "Drawing of the Three"/"Wasteland", I couldn't put them down, two of the best reads ever.

How old are you?

45

Where are you from?

Saint Louis, MO

(This seems like the best place to start if any)

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
Well, like any Stephen King fan it was inevitable.
I read quite a few of his books that tied into the Dark Tower series before making the plunge and picking up The Gunslinger, not going to lie I was a bit daunted and scared to start on the series. Very glad I did!

Who is your favorite character?
I really like Jake, and Oy. I also really like The Walkin' Dude (I chose to use my favourite term for him, haha!)
But I wouldn't go as far to name them my favourites, this is a hard question.

What is your favorite book?
Assuming this is within The Dark Tower series? If not... then I could not tell you.
But within that, it's a tie between Wizards and Glass and The Dark Tower.

How old are you?
20

Where are you from?
Brisbane, Australia.

how did you find this site?
I was searching through the internet and stumbled across this website, I browsed a few of the forums before deciding to join. Seems like a great place to discuss the depth of the series that has caused many sleepless nights of theory's and questions and quite frankly the list goes on. Looking forward to reading, and discussing more!

I don't have friends who like Stephen King books (they say, I like Stephen King but I don't like reading) so I registered here to share my hype.

Also, I'm pretty new in SK books (started last year). I've read: Salem's Lot (first SK book I've read), The Eyes of the Dragon, The Langoliers, Desesperation, Dr Sleep, Night Shift, Everything is Eventual, Riding the Bullet and Full Dark No Stars. Currently I'm reading Joyland.

Btw, my nickname means King Crimson in Spanish and I'm from Argentina. : )

Hey folks,

I'm from Australia. I've been into King since my teens - I'm now a 20 something lad.
I actually devoured The Dark Tower as a 19 year old. Funny the number, eh? But I had to order them in from the local store and just couldn't get enough. I can't explain the excitement when getting the phone call about the next book in the series coming in.
Anyway, outside of being aaa King fan, I'm a huge film buff, avid gamer and I love to write. My love for writing and horror finally combined when I landed a gig writing for a horror site. So if you've got a book or film you think I should check out, I'm always on the look out for new material to review.
I hope to see some of you around!

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I walked in a bookstore in Rotterdam one day just to see what books they had and I grabbed the Gunslinger, or must I say the gunslinger grabbed me. Because before I knew I was on page 30 and the salesman came up to me to tell me “he this is not a liberty. Buy or put it back”. So I bought it and I am hooked ever since.

Who is your favorite character?
Susan Delgado, Blaine the Mono

What is your favorite book?
Wizard & Glass, The Waste Lands

hi everyone.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
the series had been recommended to me repeatedly over the years, but i was never interested or intrigued enough to pick it up. this past summer i finally caved to the advice of a mutual friend of mine, and i devoured all seven books in a few months.

Who is your favorite character?
jake and oy were my two favorites.

What is your favorite book?
of the dark tower series, probably the third or the seventh. my favorite book of all time... i have no idea. it's impossible to pick just one. i love harry potter and the dark tower and this one book called "watchers" by dean koontz.

How old are you?
twenty-three. i'll be twenty-four in october.

Where are you from?
i've lived in new york my whole life, but i hope/plan to be leaving it soon.

Do you have a nickname?
not really.

How did you find this site?
pretty sure i was googling "dark tower tattoos" (or something along that vein) and i found it. and here i am. :)

Heil gunslingers!

My name is Jeremiah, and I'm new to the forums. I discovered the dark tower, more specifically the The Gunslinger at the tender age of 15 (11 years ago). I was immediately drawn to the story of Roland, and have been enthralled by his story since. I still consider The Gunslinger my favorite book on the series (I appologize to the Song of Susanah lovers).

I look foreword to getting to know some of you and talking about that other world, that world of in, mid, and end world.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Hi all! Found your forum while searching for information on the Revival book tour so I thought I would register and have a look around. I've been reading Stephen King books since the mid 1970s, The Stand is my favorite book among all books. I have not been to a King event before and don't have any signed book copies, so pretty excited about this upcoming event since one stop is close enough for me to attend.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
My 2 older brothers had both read the series up to WIG but I was a little resistant to read it. Years later I was in high school and we were assigned a book report of our choosing. There was a small bookshelf in the classroom and I saw a thin book which was reversed so that the pages showed rather than the binding. I grabbed it and pulled out The Gunslinger. This was in 2000 I think.

Who is your favorite charcter?
GERT MOGGINS!!!....j/k it's Roland of Gilead. In fact the Gunslinger is my favorite fictional character of all time. Second favorite I think is Detta Walker.

What is your favorite book?
The Wastelands. After this book there's no turning back.

How old are you?
31

Where are you from?
Ontario

Do you have a nickname?
Nope

40-something father of three checking in to say, "Hi!" I've been lurking in this forum for quite a while (like the dog in "L.T.'s Theory of Pets", heh) and I finally decided to join in the fun. Uncle Stevie has been my favorite author (by a mile) since I first cracked open my mom's copy of Firestarter in '83. I'll never forget seeing it there on her end table; the flames, the eyes, "Author of The Dead Zone". I was immediately hooked from that moment on. I devoured King for the next ten years (unfortunately, mass market PB's) and then virtually stopped for the next ten (school, kids, etc.). In the early 2000's the "King Bite" returned and I went on a quest (sort of like Roland, but not quite) to replace all of my tattered mass markets with 1st edition hardbacks. Being on a tight budget, I continually hit the circuit of used book stores/thrift stores/yard sales and was able to acquire many of them in great condition (except the early stuff, no 1st/1st's there, although I did find great copies of BotM editions of The Shining and Night Shift). And, of course, no limited editions. That's the next step in my collecting, I guess. But I'm afraid to think what my wife would do if books that cost hundreds of dollars start showing up at the doorstep! Anyway, that's my story. It's great to finally be a member. You guy's are great! All Hail the King! :)

Hello all. My name is James and I stumbled across the site while searching images of the Crimson King. I'm not much of a "collector" other than the books themselves. I love books that someone else has read before, and other than obtaining a copy of a book signed by Sai King, I don't have plans in the future to start. I guess I'm just too cheap, lol. I got in King's books in general because my aunt is an AVID reader of his, and has been for as long as I can remember. She was kind enough to sneak me books of his to read, while my mom was totally unaware. I've been hooked ever since. My favorite book goes back and forth between Wastelands and Song of Susannah. Obviously, my favorite character is Roland, like most of the other recent new members, but for me Pere Callahan is a very close second. 'Salems Lot is my favorite non-DT book by Stephen King, and that character will always hold a special spot in my heart. I'm a 32-year old husband and father of 2, from Florida. Long days and pleasant nights, all.

Yes, you may have noticed Roland isn't on my list. LOL.

What is your favorite book? Wastelands.

How old are you? I remember watching JFK being shot live on T.V. Well, not "live" so much as re-played after the fact. But the day it actually happened.

Where are you from? That, I am not certain of. I think we may somehow come from stars or stardust. Have to get back to you on that one.

do you have a nickname? Yes. I do. :emot-roflolmao:

how did you find this site? I Googled Palaver. And I really wanted a place to talk about the Dark Tower series as it is magnificent and none of my friends have read it.

Hey everyone! On my FOURTH read of the DT series (finally had time and wanted the continuity of the whole story when reading WTTK 4.5. I suppose I keep picking little hints up along the path, maybe hoping something will change? :-P

How did you discover the Dark Tower? In 2004, I was kicking heroin. My oldest brother approached me with "The Gunslinger", saying this is a story I can get behind. At first I struggled (as Eddie can testify, not only is nothing is easy when coming off the stuff, but Roland was difficult when this journey began - especially before the book 1 revision, oh can you but dig it), but once I kicked and got to DOTT... I found a new addiction, Better than heroin (O Discordia!)

Who is your favorite charcter? LOL see above... M O O N....

What is your favorite book? Please don't make me choose....

How old are you? 32

Where are you from? Modesto, CA

do you have a nickname? Gnagsta (long story)

And pardon our silly costumes. As Ebola reminded us. We might seem a bit strange but only our screen names will change back soon. We will still be strange.

Hi, everybody. Can anyone tell me how I can set up that section of my posts that display "Wanted items"? To clarify, many TDT members have their posts separated and under each post it will display their wanted items, a quote, a graphic, etc. Still discovering the nuances of building my profile...and I'm a little slow sometimes. Any help is appreciated. Thankee sai!

Hello from Canada!

A little about me hmm....well I am 3 years younger then SK.
Being of that vintage has an advantage as so many of his stories are of that era. When he mentions the cars/music/families/drugs or anything I know exactly what he is talking about. I get to relive it.

I chose TrueNorth for a couple of reasons when I registered on "The Collector"about a year ago.

I was reading Doctor Sleep and they talk about The True Knot.
The Canadian Anthem says "Our True North Strong and Free"
Six months later Starbucks has a coffee Truenorth...LOL. I visit daily.

The Stand was my first King read about 25 years ago my last read....Revival was last night. My young French Canadian wife had been a fan since her teens but only read in French. In 1988 I bought her her first english SK book.I don't recall what it was but she hasn't read a french SK book since. She also directed me here, K9Mommy.

She had been collecting for years. For years on the road I would hunt used book stores for old copies. Over the 20 years I have bought some dogs (lots of BCE), but also found some pearls. We are members of CD and have a really nice collection.

My first love was the first editions, the first five Double Day books. I see lately that is changing and I am starting to prefer the Limited Editions. The Stand leads the list here.

Hey, everyone! I have been reading the forum for a few weeks and just recently joined. I am from Waco, Texas and am friends with longtime member, texgunslinger. I've been reading Stephen King since Carrie first came out, but didn't start collecting until a few years ago. I primarily enjoy collecting both Stephen King and Dean Koontz S/L and ARC/proofs. So far, with a little help from texgunslinger, I have 11 S/L Stephen King books, just a handful of flat signed King autos and a few SK proofs. My collection of Dean Koontz is more complete than that of Stephen King. I've been an active purchaser of Cemetery Dance and Subterranean Press books for about 3 years and am looking to grow my collection. My most recent acquisitions are from the SK Cemetery Dance grab bag and received the IT ARC with the S/L cover and the 3rd proof of FDNS. I look forward to getting know everyone better and being an active contributor, but will probably just listen and learn more at first. Went to the recent signing at BookPeople in Austin and was disappointed that I didn't know Randall Flagg and others were there. I would have loved to introduce myself. Jeff
