Hello guys and gals, my name is Nathan. I'm 25 year old single father of two boys(ages 5 and 3). Currently a semester from finishing my Associates Degree and transferring to a University to finish my Bachelors. I had a friend offer me a deal I couldn't refuse(4500 free kindle books) so I got a Paperwhite and the second novel I read was the Gunslinger. I've blown through the series and am almost finished with the last book. My favorite book overall is The Drawing of the Three with The Dark Tower and Wolves of the Calla tied for a close second. Drawing really sucked me into the series. Eddie is my favorite character and you can imagine my reaction in book 7(bawled like a little girl). Roland and Jake are close second though. I'm in the not so huge city of Manhattan, Kansas and probably relocating to the Southeast of the U.S. in a few years. I'm pumped to be a part of this site and make some Dark Tower friends. People sometimes get weirded out because I talk about it so much.

Hi everyone

I'm only on the second book, but am loving the series so far. Can't wait to get to the stuff where King starts tying in to his other works (most of which I have read long ago).

Hadn't even finished The Gunslinger and knew I was hooked. I have Books 3 to 8 on order as well as the prequel comics. It's gonna be a fun journey.

Thankee sais, may we all be well met. I haven't picked up Wind Through the Keyhole yet. It wasn't one of my free books haha. I'll be buying it soon. I've been expanding my Stephen King physical collection since starting The Dark Tower series. I'm reading Insomnia now, and will probably read Wind afterward, or Salem's Lot then Wind.

I recently procured (well, it ain't been delivered yet, but it will) a signed copy of TWTTKH for my collection. That means I have an unsigned AE for spare. You can have it for cost ($125.00?) if you doante that amount (verified) to the Haven Fund raiser. I'll pay the s/h (in the U.S.) as a bonus and you get 10 entries into the Grand Prize giveaway. How's that for a deal??????

You can look at my collection thread for pics of it. One thing though, I smoke if that is a problem. If you are interested PM me. Payments can also be made if you prefer.

Hi, all...checking in:

Who is your favorite character? Blaine the Mono...I felt a surprising amount of sympathy for Blaine, a fact that until this very moment did not concern me. Now, however...

What is your favorite book? The Drawing of the Three...loved the book and got it signed by SK when I was in high school.

How old are you? 42

Where are you from? Seattle, WA...in a van down by the river. :)

Found the site on accident through another search, but happy to be here!

As a newbie to the site, I'd just like to say Hi!
Been a Stephen King fan since first reading The Shining back in 1977 and have been hooked ever since. Joined a book club so I wouldn't miss any of his new books so got my copy of The Gunslinger when it was first issued in 1982.
Favourite character has got to be Roland.
Favourite DT book is The Wind through the Keyhole (favourite King book probably The Green Mile but really hard to choose).
I am 54 and live in Lincolnshire, UK.

Continuing the UK invasion a big hello to all from the East Midlands
Been a reader for approx 20yrs, and a collector since last Christmas when my wife purchased my first signed SK from a certain Tito_Villa and I've never looked back
Fav DT would be WTTK simply because I haven't read the others for what seems such a long time. . . need to amend that situation
Fav book would be The Dark Half as it was my first, and they're always special
I'm 33 and a relative newbie to the collectable side of literature, so please bear with if I ask silly questions !

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
My sister. She mentioned that they may make a movie or tv show so I did a little research on the story and decided to dig in on the books. great stuff.

Who is your favorite charcter?
So far, i guess it is a tie between Roland and Eddie. I am only 1/3 of the way through "The Wastelands" though, so it may be too early to tell.

What is your favorite book?
Probably The Drawing of the Three...Wastelands is good so far though. The first one had some parts I found to be a little boring and slow.

How old are you?
29
Where are you from?
South Florida. And I live here still.

Hi. I heard about this forum at the Official Stephen King site's Message Board (http://www.stephenking.com/xf/index.php). It's fun to become a part of another forum devoted to sK. I've been a CR only since 2006. I guess what took me so long had to do with my assumptions about what kind of writing sK did. Consequently, I've come to understand that one's personal bias is his personal curse. I'm glad I tried sK despite myself. My first influence to do so came from William Goldman, screenplay writer for Misery and an author I've loved for years, who, in his Which Lie Did I Tell?, devoted much time speaking well of sK. I desperately needed an new author at the time and figured if he's good enough for Billy, he's good enough for me. I've never looked back.

My first was The Shining (I had some questions about the movie; alas, only Kubrick can answer them), then Misery. My favorite, so far, is Desperation (please see above; further details available upon request :)).

I've enjoyed making friends at the "Official" site. I look forward to doing the same here. :)

I first read the drawing of the three when I was in hs and immediately was gripped by Roland's world and felt as is I had found my personal 'bible' in ka and mid world. People who have not immersed themselves in this series never understand the impact it can have on your life. I had always been a fan of kings books(I was traumatized by Stanley Kubrick's version of the shining as a 5 y/o and was hooked ever since ) although I often felt that king wrote just to hear himself speak at times. Until I found Roland, when I most needed him.
My fav character is Roland, I think because he is so flawed. But all of the characters feel like a part of my family. I tend to re-read the series every 6 months or so, and I always find something new in the books, depending where I am at in my life.
My fav book is a toss up between 3, lol. I love the drawing of the three, my first journey into mid world. Wizard and glass broke my heart and reading and getting to know young Roland is poignant and wonderful. The dark tower surpassed my expectations, even as I hated the ending, how could it end any other way?
I am 38
I am from San Diego ca
No nick names for me :(
I have a half sleeve dedicated to young Roland and Susan Delgado.

Hmm, you are supposed to get pm rights after you post 5 times. I guess the jefe needs to turn it on or something.

To get the image only to post in the forums, take the url info you copied from the photobucket link (make sure to click directly on the picture and copy the IMG code) and just remove the url info leaving your pic info surrounded by xxxxx

Welcome welcome welcome!
I wouldn't be surprised if, after joining this site, you never looked back. I didn't. ;)

Also, I'm glad to see another Desperation fan on board!
Thanx for the welcome!

That is a sweet sleeve!

Hi all. Was a poster here back in 2009. 5 years later I found my way back a couple of days ago. :)

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

For some reason, I couldn't get into the Dark Tower books early on. I started reading King over 21 years ago, when I was a kid, and have bought his new books every year since then, and re-read most of them too several times, but only read non-Tower Kings up until a few years ago, while I was staying in a house in the woods overlooking this really cool lake, that I finally started reading The Dark Tower books. I struggled with the first installment (Gunslinger) and the last two installments (#6 and #7) but loved #2-5.

Who is your favorite character?

Dolores Claiborne or the kids from IT.

What is your favorite book?

IT is my favourite. Also love Misery, Dolores Claiborne, Gerald's Game, and 11/22/63.

How old are you?

33

Where are you from?

Europe.

Howdy, folks. I just joined a couple of days ago.

How did you discover the Dark Tower? The book series? or the site? I learned of the novel as many people did: saw it listed on the "Other Books By Stephen King" page in Pet Sematery. By that time, of course, the 1st edition was long gone. I did manage to snag a second edition at Forbidden Planet bookstore in New York City.

Who is your favorite charcter? Too tough to say. Roland Deschain, Johnny Smith, Father Donald Callahan all rank high on the list.

What is your favorite book? Another toss-up. 'Salem's Lot and The Dead Zone are neck-and-neck, rounding the far turn and heading for home.

How old are you? 50, errr-- 49 and 14 months.

Where are you from? Born in New Jersey, been living in Nashville, Tennessee since 1987.

do you have a nickname? Nope.

how did you find this site? I've known about it for a while, and occasionally browse the forums. I first heard about it when I was a member of the "SKFakes" billboard/forum several years ago, when the proliferation of phoney King signatures was becoming more than a mere annoyance.

I've actually read very, very little King. When I was ~10 I read The Shining...it scared me so much I didn't read another horror novel until my boss handed me Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill two years ago. He then suggested Dead Zone, and has steadily been handing me new King once I finish the last.

With such a good set of already asked questions, my lazy bone grabbed this opportunity! Thanks.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?Heard about it for years. Began reading Stephen King books (first one was Hearts In Atlantis) then my brother decided to share his copy of the series with me. That was the beginning of the end, or should I say the end of the beginning?

Who is your favorite character?I have to CHOOSE one? Just One? That's crazy. I love Roland, Jake, Eddie and Susannah most and of course, (drum roll) gottaluvoy.

What is your favorite book?Oh man. First it was hands down, Wolves of the Calla. After 3rd complete reading of series that is. After about the 6th or 7th reading, it switched to Wind through the Keyhole, then sometime after the twelfth reading I got really attached to Drawing of the Three, mostly because I just like the beginning of Roland's friendships. Now, I'm tending to go with Waste Lands, since it seems the fullest and richest to me at this time. My favorite will probably continue to change. Right now I'm also really loving that last leg journey Roland and Susannah take in book 7. I just can't pick one.

How old are you?Old enough to vote and old enough to be deeply suspicious about how much my vote is counted. That's all you need to know, sais.

Where are you from?California, U.S.A. all my life.

do you have a nickname?Yeah, actually more than one. Here, it happens to be gottaluvoy. :)

how did you find this site? Here's a cool one to answer: in one of the books of the Dark Tower series there is a referenced letter from a fan Stephen King gets which states the fan likes the picture of Oy in Waste Lands. With that in mind, I went to Google Image search page and searched "Dark Tower Oy". Then began looking at various drawings. One led me to this forum. Not sure I could ever pinpoint which. I'm still looking for a rendering of Oy that matches the picture I have of him inside my head.

Hello All. Glad to be on board and just wanted to introduce myself

How did you discover the Dark Tower? I actually read the Gunslinger in High School. King was my mothers favorite artist. I will admit that I have not read the entire series though. I made it through the Drawing of the Three and have yet to revisit the series. It is on my list though!

Who is your favorite charcter? I tend to read more fantasy than horror. I can't commit to a favorite Stephen King character yet because I still have much to read. Can I say Charlie Manx though? Loved that creepy bastard!

What is your favorite book? Different Seasons! I know it's his shorts but I read and fell in love with Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption well before it was released as a movie. Loved all four shorts in that book.

How old are you? 34

Where are you from? Phoenix, AZ

do you have a nickname? Aronstg will be fine

how did you find this site? I love remarqued books. They are my collection weakness and I have started to collect some Stephen King. I only own one of his signed books so far. I was searching for remarqued stephen king books and stumbled upon this board. I think I will learn a lot from you all!

I saw those both on Ebay before joining. I also saw the remarqued Desperation. Unfortunately they are way beyond my means but I still love looking at them! Thanks for the heads up. It is my understanding that I can donate 10 to the paypal link above and get an entry into an end of the year drawing? Is there more information on that?

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
Picked up The Wastelands at a used book store, not realizing there was a series or that this was part of it.

Who is your favorite character?
Sheemie. He has always been willing to do anything at all for his friends.

What is your favorite book?
Wizard and Glass.

How old are you?
25

Where are you from?
central Florida

Do you have a nickname, just a shortened handle: "heroes"

I'm surprised that it's taken me this long to stumble across this site, it seems to have been around for a while. I was looking for images for the tattoo I'm putting together, and because I'd really like to find a stretched canvas print of the tower.

This deviantart user, yoonis I believe, made this (http://th06.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/238/b/4/king__s_tower_by_yoonis-d5ci71i.jpg) which is pretty awesome. Makes me wish there was an artistic bone in my body. Lacking that, though, I wish I could find someone else with artistic bones, I've been so far unsuccessful :-(

First visit here. COOL SITE. I've been a big fan of King for quite some time now. I first discovered his work when I read The Shining at the age of eleven. Was hooked immediately. The dark tower series is nothing short of mind blowing. Wizard and Glass is one of the greatest books ever written... by anybody as far as I am concerned! Anyway, I'm going to look around and hang out when I can... time is one of the things that I do not have in abundance I am afraid. Glad I found this place.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

English teacher when I was a wee lad gave me a copy of The Eyes of the Dragon not too long after release, been reading everything King writes ever since. Everything from Misery on I have in 1st/1st just because my mother always bought them for me when they came out, and I'll always treasure my beat up copy of Misery because of it.

Who is your favorite character?

Gonna go outside TDT for this one (kind of) and say Ralph Roberts.

What is your favorite book?

For TDT, W&G. For everything, probably Insomnia with The Long Walk coming in a close second. Desperation is probably next, but there are some additional qualifiers when it comes to Desperation which are 1. My mom bought and delivered it to me right after I had my appendix out, and I spent the next 24 hours reading most of it, slept for a while, then woke up and finished it. Not sure how much of that is because I loved it (which I do) and how much is because I couldn't get to sleep due to abdominal pain. And 2. the novel is set in a small mining town in Northern Nevada. I work in the mining industry, in a small town in Northern Nevada (but not Ruth). Though that's kind of an ancillary reason, since I loved it long before that was true for me.

How old are you?

38.

Where are you from?

Currently reside in Northern Nevada. Recently moved here from Alaska. Was born and grew up in Iowa.

do you have a nickname?

Frankie is my nickname within the mafia. Just because I look like a guy who was named Frankie who is no longer with us. My actual name is Nick.

how did you find this site?

Was a member of the old site, pretty sure .net, but I never posted a huge amount. I could be off on the timing and situation, but pretty sure I missed .com completely. Started "collecting" I think around 2002 but it only happened in fits and starts since I was mostly in college then and never had any money. Before then I was just buying/receiving books to read, even though before I started really collecting I already had 25 or so 1st/1sts (though of course 1st of that vintage aren't worth a hell of a lot).

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
An army buddy of mine saw me reading The Stand, and asked if I had read any of The Dark Tower series. At the time, The Stand was the only King book I'd read. He said he heard the series was pretty good but long, so he asked if I would read it and let him know before he vested any of his own time.

Who is your favorite character?
I have to say Eddie. I can relate a lot of my life to his.

What is your favorite book?
Oh man, tough choice. Either Book III, or VI.

How old are you?
As of today, 31.

Where are you from?
Born and raised in Anchorage Alaska, now living outside of Austin Texas.

Do you have a nickname?
I do

how did you find this site?

It was recommended to me by a friend, who knew that I was a Stephen King fan, but had never read the Dark Tower books

Who is your favorite charcter?

Roland. Definitely Roland. He's flawed, but he's excellent.

What is your favorite book?

At the moment, it's Wizard and Glass. This is subject to change depending on my mood and which books I have read recently.

How old are you?

I'm 28

Where are you from?

Oh, I think I already answered this in my generic "hiya" bit at the beginning. Anyway, I'm from Denbigh in North Wales

Do you have a nickname?

I do not

I most certainly did mean SoS. My first read through, it seemed way out of place, and more like a deleted scene from a B movie. The more I've read it, the more I actually enjoy it's oddities, and out of place feel.

The FAQ says I have to post 10 times before my posts aren't moderated - though I'm not sure anyone around is to actually check those? Does that mean my ten posts before then just disappear into a blackhole? :)

None of my posts appearing, and can't be bothered to post them again, I give up on this forum already. :( Shame you have to have such brutal spam defense techniques.
Sorry for the delay in approving your posts. The spam defense is strong, that's why we virtually no spam.
Hope you enjoy the board. You should not have any more trouble posting.
Thanks, I had wrote something straight after reading a book, and almost forgot what I wrote, glad it didn't disappear :)

Edit: my posts are still being moderated, so I hope you are still checking them. LOL.

Out of curiousity, how do you know they are? Does a message pop up when you click submit? just wondering.

If I post outside of this forum category, it pops up with a message that my post will be moderated. It was happening the last time I checked (even with post count of 10), maybe at 11 its different. Also if someone else posts, your post is inserted before that post after it has been moderated, so people don't even see the post nine times out of ten.

I am not sure why this is happening to you. It's abnormal. I am looking into it.

It seems to be working now after going past post count 11. Though I'll PM you if it comes back again..
