Hi people!

Where did I find out about DT:

I was working in a bookstore at the time and I came across TDotT, it was in english (noone translated DT in slovenian yet) and I didn't have the time nor interest to read it, especially becouse I saw that it was "part II" written on it, and I thought that it wouldn't be interesting if I haven't read the 1st part. But a few months later my roommate bought me that very book for my birthday, I read it and I was most amused. Ka, I guess :)
My favorite character:

Cort

My favorite DT book:

TDotT

How old am I:

I'm 22

Where are you from:

I'm from a small town of Vuzenica, Slovenia

Do you have any nicknames:

Grothorious or Stormblist on the net

Some more things about me:

I still haven't read the whole story (I'm reading WotC at the moment) becouse no bookstore here has the other books and I have to order them from US of A or England, but I'll get there eventually :)

I'm a King fan since I read Pet Cemetary at the age of 10. Just like Sabrina I smoke a lot of pot and read tons of books, and I'm happy to see that at least some folks is still "old fashioned" enough to read.

Who is your favorite charcter?

What is your favorite book?

How old are you?

Where are you from?

do you have a nickname?

My friend gave me a copy of The gunslinger when I was in the 9th grade, I returned it because although I love SK the book I thought at the time was so boring, I found a copy of the drawing of the three last summer and loved it, it,it made reading the gunslinger much better.

Eddie Dean is by far the best.

dunno if i've done this before, but here goes:

How did you discover the Dark Tower? well, that's an easy one. my brother, whom most of you know as the Great Sage and Eminent Junkie Brice, was into SK long before i was ever even allowed to think about it. When I got older and got our mom to bog down and get me a copy of The Stand, Brice, in turn, gave me the original DT Trilogy box set, i think for my birthday or maybe xmas or somethin like that. of course i was already familiar with The Gunslinger, having purchased the paperback copy on my own prior, and dove into it like Michael Phelps at the Olympics. The rest is history.

Who is your favorite character? Eddie. He's the one i can most easily identify with. Roland yes is the classic vigilante a la Eastwood, and Susannah and Jake were equally well brought to life, but I can't really relate to them. I can identify with emulating older sibs, wanting their attention and to please them, and above all else, being a stone cold junkie half my life. And of course, the heroic manner in which Eddie overcame it all.

What is your favorite book? Song of Susannah? No, I guess Wizard and Glass actually. I did enjoy SoS due to its abundance of action from first line to last, and the history of End-World etc etc; the dual climax. But Wizard and Glass really put life into Roland. before that, he was just any other cardboard cutout stereotype with a presumed motive that all was too typical. hearing his tale of Susan and the Big Coffin Hunters really made me feel a pain that I've never known before because it made him somehow more human than most of us act in reality.

How old are you? at current point in time, 27.

Where are you from? born in Norfolk, VA; been all over really. haven't really established any roots per se.

do you have a nickname? none that i actively answer to.

Hi everyone, just finished the series moments ago and needed to find people to talk to about it. I've been avoiding anything on the internet about the series for fear of being spoiled (only got spoiled twice... one not so bad, the other kinda sucked)

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I had bought Book 1 years ago and never got around to reading it, so after reading through Harry Potter and then His Dark Materials, I was up for another series and tried again with The Gunslinger. I felt it was a little too slow for my liking, but I pushed through and tried The Drawing of the Three and was hooked.

Who is your favorite character?
Probably Jake. And Oy.

What is your favorite book?
I read Song of Susannah faster than anything I've ever read in my life and loved every second of it. Drawing of the Three is a close second.

How old are you?
Not quite 30 yet.

Where are you from?
Originally from Staten Island, NY. Currently residing in Springfield, NJ.

do you have a nickname?
no, but my screen name is pronounced Chimichanga.

Just my love of Stephen King and my quest to read all his books

Oy [he's just so adorable:)]

My favorite Stephen King book I've read so far i must say is IT I'm not sure why i think maybe cause it remindes me of my childhood and i could just fit myself into the story so easily. Also i aw the movie when i was young and after reading the book i found that much [like movies usually do] was left out. If you didn't read it yet i suggest you do it's a long read but well worth all 1078 pages. Other then Stephen King one of my all time favorite books is Twilight Eye by Dean Koontz. It's just a really amazing book.:)

I'm 16

From New Jersey

Hmmm not really any nicknames i can think of besides JackieJeans [ i name i came up with, which i have accounts on various web sights so if you ever see JackieJeans lited on a site add me :)!!] or Jackie which i go by [short for Jacqueline]

Perfect! That's what I wanted to say about WaG but never found the right words :huglove:

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I was talking about H.P. Lovecraft, and my friend Justin new that a lot of King's works were inspired by Lovecraft. He knew my interests and at the time was still reading through the Tower himself. After he was finished he just kept hounding me until I started reading the series.

Who is your favorite character?
Roland. Just the complete dedication and sureness he has in everything he does. The character development from first book to last is also very subtle and so well written.

What is your favorite book?
The Wastelands, Wolves of the Calla, and The Dark Tower

Hiya! :)

How did you discover the Dark Tower? - Well I was fortunate enough to borrow my cousin's copy of The Stand (4 years ago and he's still to get it back)...I was so enthralled by the imagery and language that I reread the book 3 times and was left yearning for more :) I have always been an avid reader and am a sucker for 'other world' epics....I have reread Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia and the Philip Pullman trilogy too many times to count....I must be quite fantasist! Anyway one day I was at the local library returning The Shining...perhaps one of the scariest books I have ever encountered...and decided another Stephen King would make my day....much to my delight I discovered The Dark Tower books. I could only get them in hardback so you can imagine the walk home that day! :) It was worth it...I was on holiday and so I only put the books down when I had to sleep...what an amazing literary experience! Already pining after Roland!

Who is your favorite charcter? - It has to be Roland...I thought he was an amazing character...all the more for his heroics and tragedy at Mejis...he suffered so much and had so many endearing qualities that it was difficult not to love him!

What is your favourite book? - It has to be The Wizard and Glass....though I do love them all! :)

How old are you? - 25

Where are you from? - Glasgow in Scotland

do you have a nickname? - Not really...whoops!

How did you discover the Dark Tower? - A friend from work told me of the series and I blew through the whole thing in 4 months which for me is good since I am a slow reader. Has to be the best series I've ever read. I just finished it and after being exhausted yet wired from the ending, I find myself STARTING OVER!

Who is your favorite character? - Roland of course. I don't think there has ever been such a character as he and his presence can be felt through the pages.

What is your favourite book? - It is a toss between The Wizard of Glass And the finale Dark Tower.

BROWNINGS CHILDE
09-20-2008, 02:08 AM
AAAAAAAHHHHHH......A KA-TET!
Well, as you can see, I am a new-comer to the site. Though, I am an old school King junkie. Read my first King (Salem's Lot) at 7 or 8 years old. Now, at 32, I've read everything he has written and have long since moved on to a wide variety of other authors. Still have a soft spot for King, kinda like a childhood romance.
Favorite King: The Stand
Favorite Book: Lord of the Flies
Favorite DT: W and G
Favorite character: Cuthbert
Favorite King Movie: Maximum Overdrive

I READ THE GUNSLINGER WHEN IT WAS THE ONLY BOOK AVAILABLE. WHEN DRAWING CAME OUT, I QUICKLY REREAD THE FIRST BOOK AGAIN BEFORE READING THE NEXT AS A REFRESHER. THEN, WITH WASTELANDS, I REPEATED THE FIRST TWO INSTALLMENTS BEFORE PROGRESSING TO THE THIRD. FINALLY, AFTER AN AGONIZING PERIOD OF YEARS, W AND G CAME OUT. SO, I REREAD THE SERIES AGAIN. I DID IT AGAIN WITH WOLVES. THE NEXT FEW CAME OUT QUICKLY ENOUGH THAT REREADING WASNT NECESSARY, BUT AS IT STANDS, I GUESS I READ GUNSLINGER FIVE TIMES.

AN INTERESTING TIDBIT, I WAS READING A CONVERSATION WITH STEPHEN KING, AROUND W AND G, ( MAY HAVE EVEN BEEN IN THE FOREWARD, IF SO ITS PROBABLY OLD NEWS TO MOST HERE) WHERE HE DESCRIBED A LETTER HE RECEIVED FROM A FAN. THEY HAD SENT A PICTURE OF A TEDDY BEAR IN BONDAGE, WITH A LETTER COMPRISED FROM VARIOUS NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS, STATING THAT KING SHOULD "COMPLETE THE DARK TOWER SERIES OR THE BEAR DIES". I FOUND THIS ENORMOUSLY FUNNY.

ANYWAY,
IF YOU HAD THE PLEASURE OF READING IT ALL AT ONCE, YOU WERE BOTH SPARED THE AGONIZING WAIT FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT, AND YOU WERE DEPRIVED OF THE AGONIZING WAIT FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT

Also, if you are wondering why half of this is in caps and the other isnt, I copied and pasted my responses to two threads from another forum that is apparently dead.

I'm from Denver City, TX, and I live in Lubbock.
Nickname is my last name - Gooch

Look forward to discussing DT with all of you.
Anyway,
Long days and pleasant nights

How did you discover the Dark Tower? Sometime in the 90s a friend of mine was listening to this intriguing book on tape The Gunslinger, and after a long ride together I was hooked.

Who is your favorite charcter? Roland without a doubt

How old are you? 29

do you have a nickname? My username is my nickname IRL

I just found this site after finally finishing the series. I picked up W&G when it was released and read it twice. Perhaps like sai King I shied away from resuming the series when it became available but the wheel of ka returned the series to me when my daughter was rooting through a bin of bargain books at the local grocery store. I watched her dig down looking for childrens books when she turned up a brand new copy of the final book marked down to a ridiculous $5 so I snatched it up. I am quite glad I resumed the series. :rose:

I am a newbie here. I just finished Wizard and Glass this morning. I have been working on reading all the books over the last five years or so. I have been trying to read them super slowly because I love them so much.

How did you discover the Dark Tower? A friend of mine from high school talked about them all the time so I finally picked up the 1st one and I have been hooked ever since.

Who is your favorite charcter? Roland and Susan

What is your favorite book? The Gunslinger. That will always be my favorite.

How old are you? 22

Where are you from? Cranston,RI

do you have a nickname? nope.

Hile gunslingers! I'm an avid Sci-Fi geek and am closing in on finishing the final book of the Dark Tower series. I picked up the novels years ago and promised myself that I would sit down some day and devour the whole series in a sitting. Little did I know then how much I would love the books! I'm not a life long Stephen King reader, so his approach to writing is very entertaining and fresh to me. I plan on going back now and reading a lot of the connected books to the series after I'm done. And of course, palavering with you all. I'm staying away from a lot of the threads for now so I don't run across any spoilers on accident!

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I've always been interested in Stephen King, but am not crazy about the horror aspect of much of his books. The Gunslinger caught my attention and I quickly picked up the rest of the books in the series and am now finishing up book seven.

Who is your favorite character?

That's a tough choice, but I'd have to say Eddie.

What is your favorite book?

It's a tie between The Wastelands (I consider the beginning and end of Wizard and Glass as the end of The Wastelands in a way) and The Wolves of the Calla. Although, it's really hard to say that one book is really better than the other since in my mind, I see all seven of the books as one story, much as the Lord of the Rings was one story but the publishers broke it down into easy to digest novels.

How old are you?

I'm 33.

Where are you from?

Indianapolis, Indiana - USA!

If you mean a sig... go to your user control panel (I usually just go to "notifications/private messages.") and on the left side menu you will see "Edit signature," click it. Then put your quote or URL or IMG into the box that looks like a reply box. At the top of that box you can change the size, font and color of your words.

Hello, my name is Paula, and I'm a Dark-Tower-holic.

How did you discover the Dark Tower? A friend of mine started really getting into Stephen King a few years back, so when he started reading The Gunslinger, he pretty much made me start reading it myself. I couldn't be more thankful for his persistence. :)

Who is your favorite character? Roland, without doubt. But let's be honest; all the characters are absolutely magnificent.

What is your favorite book? Probably "The Gunslinger" and "Wizard and Glass".

How old are you? I'll be 20 years old come February.

Where are you from? San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Do you have a nickname? I guess. Different people call me different things: P-Man, P! (pronounded "PEE"), Pauli, Paulita, POW, etc. Oh, and about 99% of the people I know call me Juno since I apparently bear a striking resemblance to Ellen Page's character in the movie--both in personality and physically.

Nice to meet you.

OK about me:

I'm a previous member of the .net forums (can you believe it took me a year to find this place?....I didn't get that memo).

Anyways, I'm currently 33 (will be 34 in November) and live in Ohio. My hobbies are reading, a little bit of writing (though it's been a while since I've done it), playing World of Warcraft, sleeping and going to work (I work a third shift job- meaning I work when everyone is asleep on my side of the planet).

I've been a King fan since the ripe young age of 12. Discovered the DT series about 10 or so years ago (meaning I had run out of King things to read, started the Gunslinger and became an addict soon afterwards).

I know a few of you will remember me (Jean :huglove:).

HELLO!!

My name is Katie and I'm new here. Just thought I'd drop by and say 'hi' and introduce myself.

Umm okay so the questions:
I discovered the Dark Tower series a long time ago, prolly in freshman year of high school. but i never picked one up until a pretty terrible night at my uncle's house and it just blew my mind. I wanted to sneak out with his copy but my mom owns pretty much ever stephen king book so I waited impatiently until we got home (a four hour drive).

Who is your favorite charcter?
Wow. This is actually a really hard question. I am really indecisive so I'm going to be cool and pick two (i know i know). Roland is probably my favorite, weirdly because he reminds me so much of my last boyfriend (not maybe not just as mystic haha). My other favorite is Jake. I don't know, he makes me feel protective and worried about him, and I guess I really like feeling connected to a character!

What is your favorite book?
Well, Im only on the fourth book so far (even though someone told me how it ends...so naturally I had to look). But I think I would say The Wastelands 'cause I so knew some of those things we're gonna happen!! (my friends call me a psychic reader...too bad I cant make money off of that!)

How old are you?
Oo and easy one! I'm 19 years old.

Where are you from?
I am from Chicago, Illinois.

do you have a nickname?
Um I'm usually just called Katie, though people did get in this weird stage of calling me Kate at school.

Wow, I'm really sorry you guys. I'm naturally a very wordy person. I'm not even sure how it happens really. Though I do know it comes in handy for 15 page reports!
:pirate: Thanks for listening!
(who can resist the pirate smiley?)
