Hi, my name is Alberto, and I'm from Colombia. Wanna share my Dark Tower experience with all of you.
How did you discover the Dark Tower?
Well, ever since I was 14 or 15 I started reading Stephen King both in english and spanish. I quickly fell in love with his narrative and started collecting every book I could lay my hands on. One day I came across a copy of "The Gunslinger" in spanish, called "La hierba del diablo", also known as "El Pistolero". Read it. Didn' like it that much but I went on. Read "The Drawing of the Three", which blew me away. That's when I fell for the Tower. My sister lives in the US and sends me SK books now and then.
Who is your favorite charcter?
Cuthbert Allgood and Eddie Dean. I also like father Callahan, Roland, Zoltan (the crow from book I).
What is your favorite book?
My Favorite Dark Tower book is "The Drawing of the Three".
How old are you?
I'm 21 years old.
Where are you from?
I'm from Colombia.
do you have a nickname?
Nickname would be Mantas.

So hi. I'm Paul, i'm 24 and I started my dark tower adventure when I was about fourteen. Looking for a King book, as I'd heard he was good, I picked up, after lots of deliberation, The Drawing Of The Three. I was completely unaware of it being part of any series. I rushed through the book and whilst I thoroughly enjoyed it, a lot of things made absolutely no sense. I later found out that about the gunslinger (bought the next day) and was addicted since.

Not to be redundant, but my name is Tony.

I'm 39, and I first read the Gunslinger when I was about 15 (circa 1984). I read the rest more or less when they came out.

My favorite DT book is "Drawing of the Three." It simply rocked.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I was a huge Stephen King fan from way back, (starting around 1981). I'd read all I could by him, and one day I saw the title "The Dark Tower," on the Also-By page of one of his books. I looked for it, but could never find it (this was pre-internet, dontchaknow). When I saw the display for the audio book I almost fainted! The store I was in didn't have any actual book copies, just the audio, so I bought it! IMMEDIATELY! It was read by the author (BONUS!), and even though it was different from anything else of his I'd read, I loved it...every word! Other King fans at the time looked at me like I was insane. I was the only one I knew of who liked it. Someone else on this thread said she likes to think of that book as a test, and that's the PERFECT way to describe it! Anywho...I've been reading faithfully ever since. I nearly died after "The Waste Lands" waiting for "Wizard and Glass."

Who is your favorite charcter?
Why don't you ask which one of my kids I love best??? I absolutely love them all. Even the evil ones. I won't choose. I won't!:nope:

What is your favorite book?
See above. Although I will say that I've never cried so much as I did the first time I read The Dark Tower VII. I still cry in the same places every time, even though I've read it half a dozen times. It absolutely rips my heart out.

How old are you?

Howdy all, I am new here. I am not new Sai King's website though. I didn't know he had a DT MB going. I guess I should read more of what is in front of my face.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I was bored with all the current books I have read in my library so I asked my adoptive mom if she had something in her library I might like to read. She gave me Dark Tower book 1: The Gunslinger. I chewd my way through that in two days. I did the same with the next two and I had to wait on the rest of the books. I was fifteen years old when I found the Dark Tower. I am now 26 and have worn out my fair share of DT books since my discovery.

Who is your favorite charcter? I would have to say it is a tie between Strict Roland and Wise Cracking Eddy

What is your favorite book? Drawing of the Three

How old are you? 26

Where are you from? Neah Bay, Washington but live in California now

Do you have a nickname? Some call me B, but I have had one nick for half of my life, Brother Wolf. Wolf for short.

We're actually unofficial and King doesn't actually have a hand in this but I sure like to think he looks at it from time to time.

Hey, I'm Bebe. I've only read one other Steven King book so far, a long time ago, that short one...the Girl who loved Tom Gordon. And I am only 5 books into the DT series! I've just started Wolves of the Calla so...I know I'll probably run into spoilers here but it's ok. My boyfriend drops hints here and there already. I just wanted to get a little more background on charecter connections and Q&As that I might not have picked up myself. Oh yeah, I'm in school for Graphic Design.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I'm a LOST fan, and I heard that the stories were similar (I guess they are...) in the sense of time being different than the time we know. And I like wild stories or anything that makes your mind think or put pieces together like that...so these books were for me!

Who is your favorite charcter?
...Oy!

What is your favorite book?
The Ender's Game series. Or Lord of the Rings. And probably The Dark Tower when I'm done.

How old are you?
20.

Where are you from?
Seattle.

do you have a nickname?
Beebs.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I have only read one other book by Stephen King, and it was Pet Sematary while I was on a bus in 2001. Nice quick read, didn't really make me want to pick up other stuff. Recently, my friend Teddy tried to get me to read some Drizzt books, and I told him "hell no, if I'm going to read anything you have it's those Dark Tower books you have sitting around." So I picked up the first one about a month ago, I was intrigued... it was kinda slow but I enjoyed it a lot and had no idea what I was in store for. But Stephen King had drawn me in, so he had... I just finished the Dark Tower about a half hour ago. It's really good to go into something as phenomenal as The Tower not knowing a single thing about it, and letting it take you where it wants to go with an open mind. I didn't want to finish it... I wanted to put it down when he told me to put it down. But I couldn't, I had to finish it, and now here I am already wishing I could read it again for the first time.

Who is your favorite charcter?
Oy. Who doesn't want an Oy?

What is your favorite book?
Drawing of the Three... it's the book that made me go from liking the series to being drawn into it.

How old are you?
25

Where are you from?
Originally Hillsborough, NJ... now in Charlotte, NC

Hey there! just got in here, so I guess I´ll start introducing myself answering the questions and will get to know you better in the forums

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I´ve been a SK fan since age 12 (that´s when I read Carrie and The Shining), I heard about The Dark Tower and saw the books at bookstores for a long time, but never really knew what they were all about, so I never gave them a shot until recently, when I read "The Little Sisters of Eluria" in "Everything´s Eventual" earlier this year. I got hooked at once so I did a wikipedia search on DT, when I read that it was influenced by LOTR (my favorite book) and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" (my favorite movie as you can figure from my avatar), no more words where needed. I bought a copy of "The Gunslinger" and loved it, so I went on reading. I´ve just finished Wizard and Glass today and plan to start with book V as soon as I can buy it!

Who is your favorite charcter?

Roland, definitely and closely followed by Cuthbert

What is your favorite book?

it´s tied between Wizard and Glass and The Drawing of the Three right now, but I still got 3 more to go!

How old are you?

23

Where are you from?

Montevideo, Uruguay (if you don´t know it, it´s a small country next to Argentina and Brazil)

do you have a nickname?

yup, actually my username is my nickname

Hi everyone--I stumbled across this site this morning, and I wanted to introduce myself.

How did you discover The Dark Tower?
I started reading SK books when I was about 12 or 13. (I think the first one I read was Pet Sematary.) Anyway, I kept seeing ads for The Gunslinger in the last few pages of various novels, and it looked interesting. I read The Gunslinger when I was still in high school (about 1995), and have read the others as soon as they were available to me.

Who is your favorite character?
Probably Eddie.

What is your favorite book?
For the longest time, it was The Waste Lands. However, since finishing the series, my favorite is DT VII.

How old are you?
27

Where are you from?
Well, I grew up near Galveston, TX, but I've been living in Houston, TX for the last ten years or so.

Do you have a nickname?
Not really. My first name is Erin, and that doesn't really seem to break down into nickname form very well.

Hello all! New member here, glad to be around so many KingPhiles.

Currently reading the DT series through again, for the billionth time. I am reaching the end of The wizard and Glass. It is easily my favourite book of the series, so tragically romantic and spellbinding. I find it so difficult to put down.

I discovered Stephen King many, many years ago through my mother who has a comprehensive King collection (must have been Ka! ). I flicked through the books and decided the Stand looked like the most appealing book to read first, and i was not dissapointed. It blew my mind and was easily the most addictive and engrossing form of media i had ever delved into. I play guitar and teach it for a living which is fantastic. I also write the songs in my band and have always set out to create a real filmic quality to our music. Something you could listen to and create your own interesting scenario's and backdrops. Stephen's books have played a massive part in my musical devolpment, and made me look at creating audio atmosphere in a completley different light.

I hope i can hear some insights from the rest of you guys, on how King's books have altered, enriched, clarified your lives.

So now back to the book and to the ending which upsets me greatly everytime. Poor, poor Susan * sob sob

Hello folks,
I am a new member of the site. Been a King reader since just after Salem's Lot came out in the UK ... and I've read things pretty much as they were released. The Gunslinger was my favourite King book once I got my hands on copy ... and each book in the series has replaced the previous as my favourite as I read it. I have probably re-read it the most times.

Since 1978 I have been bass guitar player for a small band called THE RIDERS OF DISCORD. I took inspiration for the name from New Riders of the Purple Sage with just a touch of Michael Moorcock inspired weirdness in there. Figured I'd take my screen name from my band, with a touch of the Dark Tower in there, thankye sai.

Nice to meet you guys!

Hi, I'm new here as well!

I first got into Stephen King after I found out one of my favorite shows, Lost, was loosely based upon The Stand, which is also one of my mother's favorite books. So I picked it up and read it and LOVED it. From that, I went on to read the Dark Tower series about a year and a half ago, and I loved it.

My favorite character...actually, probably the Old Fella/Callahan/the Fadda (as Walter would say). And Susan Delgado.

My favorite book in the series is Wizard and Glass. My favorite SK book is The Stand though (I've made it through The Stand, The Shining, IT, and the DT series, and will pick up more when I have the time. Any suggestions?)

I am 19.

I am from Chicago, Illinois.

My name is Nicole, and that is a good enough nickname. Around the web, I go by 823freckles a lot. But for here, I chose my favorite saying from my favorite character!

Well, introductions time then -

How did you discover the Dark Tower?

I'd always loved Stephen Kings books since picking up a battered paperback of The Stand that was my sisters when I was about 13 (and that had the first 26 pages missing!). Like others on the site, I had no idea about The Dark Tower when it came out - kind of hard to imagine now, a King book that no one knows about, but it was very pre internet so I guess that was why.

Anyhow, whilst a student I worked in the USA for the summer of 1987, and got to spend some time in New York, where I occupied my time and what little money I had looking in second hand book shops and getting the odd book. I stumbled across Douglas E Winters book The Art of Darkness on King and I recall lounging on a tiny bunk bed in the YMCA on 34th Street (or was it Ave) in the sweltering heat and flipping to the index - dont know why, and there, in the Index was MY NAME...Michael Whelan

You can imagine a certain amount of surprise, then on reading the entry on the Artist, I found mention of a King book I had never heard of....... The Dark Tower The Gunslinger. So, my name and a King book I had never heard of - ka or what??!

So, trawled bookstores in the big apple to no avail, got home and rang Grants to see if I could get one - obviously no idea at how rare or hard that was going to be to get one or indeed, how long it would take.

I eventually spoke to a very very helpful lady at Grants who told me that DT I was long sold out, but that DT II had just been published, and they had some limited edition trade copies left, and I eagerly snapped one up, despite having not read DT I!!. How I found out about III I dont know, but I did, and I won the lottery for a copy that had not been taken up through Grants, and that started my collection (or obsession!!) and the rest is history.

I finally got a S/L copy of DT I in 2003, but did not get DTII until 2005, and completing my set, over 20 years after my first reading about the book......although its not really complete, as the numbers dont match, so I had another mini epiphany earlier this week when I found this site, and have found who owns the missing 2 numbers from my DT series to make it matching.......now to try and set up a trade, here's hoping!.

Who is your favorite character?

Guess its got to be Roland, although I kind of like Blake the mono!!

What is your favorite book?

Has to be DTII as it was the first DT series I read. Other King wise probably The Talisman

How old are you?

40, just but still think i'm abut 23

Where are you from?

originally from Sutton Coldfield, now living in Oxfordshire, but am proud to be Irish! (Irish father)

do you have a nickname?

How did you discover the Dark Tower? I have always been a fan of Stephen King's and happened to find the first book at the store and read it.

Who is your favorite charcter? Now that is a hard question... I think i would have to say that my favorite character would have to be Roland.

What is your favorite book? Wizard and Glass.

How old are you? 36

Where are you from? I live in Bentonville AR but came from Dallas.

do you have a nickname? No.

Hi folks!

I found ya'll last night while Googling for some different takes on the DT series. These books have been a part of my life for over 19 years or so (think Gunslinger was the second book I purchased as a kid. First was Eyes of the Dragon). My first paperback copy of DotT is still sitting on a shelf, horribly dog eared from countless rereads (and occasional loans) and I've recently been going back through them all again.

Nice to find you all. Great place you have here.

 I can be such a door knob sometimes. I haven't been on lately because I forgot my password. With schooling online and my email account plus my messager account, I tend to get my passwords mixed up. Not to mention with all the crap going on in my life at the moment. Alas, Mates I might be leaving shortly for rehab. for anger and alcohol in order to save my marrage. :nana: I feel like this crazy banana. Thank you everybody if there has been in welcomes to me that I can't see to find. I need to get onto my school work.

Hello,

I just joined today and actually I just finished the series for the first time yesterday. What a great series. What a sad ending. I'm still choked up. Especially about my buddy Oy.

I am a former radio broadcaster that worked my way up to my own morning show. After seven years of it, I had had enough. Now I'm back at school at the University of Iowa. I'm double majoring in Journalism and English.

I live with my fiance (we get married on May 23rd next year). She's not one to read these books. Since I have nobody else to talk to about them, I'm glad I found this place.

Hopefully we are well met... ...gunslingers.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Thank you all, you call call Wolf for short. I am Wolf of Neah Bay, Washington but now I live in South Lake Tahoe area in California. A fifteen minute drive to a town in Nevada, I am living with my girlfriend and son. I have been calling her my wife, because a few years ago someone called her that and it has stuck ever since. Our marrage is rocky because I am going through withdraws from my alcohol. I am doing better, but I am still getting help. I will be finding out when I will going to treatment in the next week or two. I just realized I have an appointment today. I better get back home so I can call my doctor and let her know I am going to be across the street in the clinic. I am going to school as well, wash dishes isn't my thing any more. Plus I keep losing the feeling in my hands when I am a dish washer. I have slain too many of my son's fish because of the water being way too hot for them. The last two that I did this two, he asked why did I cook his fish. He learn a hard listen that day but he was okay with it. He learned about death that day and I walked him through it. He is five years old and wants to be like his father, that is why I am fighting my last demon. It has worn all my reserved strengthes, but at least this time I am smarter than it. Sorry to be spill this all out here. I am in school full time to get a bachelor's degree in English and Litaure. I hope to be come a teacher sometime in the near future.

How old are you?

GraneeWetherwaxx

I go by Granee Wetherwaxx in homage to Terry Pratchett. Like his spinster character, I have no children. Unlike the real Granny, I am married.:huglove:

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I have been an SK fan for many years, since I read Salem's Lot at the tender age of 21--it was like a powerful glam, and his works have captivated me ever since. I kept putting off reading the DT, for some reason I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't like my favorites. Finally I had read everything else, repeatedly, so I decided to give it a try. Also, I commute about 3 hours a day and listen to books on tape. This series is very well done and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

Who is your favorite character?Oy--he reminds me of my two faithful companions. My old girl, ashley who is now 14 saved me twice that I know of from being attacked. :shoot: Raven, my youngest will protect us from any derranged squirrels, the ones she doesn't befriend first.

Which is your favorite book?
Of the series, The Drawing of the Three was my favorite. The Wolves of the Calla was next. I love Seven Samurai, though.

How old are you? :orely:
Time has moved on so it is difficult to say . . .I stopped keeping track after I turned 21. Mid 30's.

Where are you from?
My body resides in SLC Utah, but my soul is in Boston

Nickname?
Christy, Auntie, Woof, which I choose to interpret as Mommy, and to my hubby, G*ddammit Christine!

I was reading King since I was 9; this was back when you could order other books from the back of the one you were reading. I always saw the one for the Dark Tower, and swore I would never read it. How did you discover the Dark Tower? i had read many sk books prior to the dark tower, starting mostly with the short stories and novellas and as my appetite grew i worked my way up to the quintessential dark tower series

Who is your favorite charcter? roland is the easy choice, we all feel closest to him for obvious reasons. like others have mentioned all of the katet members seem like family by the end. that aside, i will have to say jake. he's got such raw guts and so much love and innocence at the same time. whatta kid

What is your favorite book? i really loved getting into the backstory of roland. his softer side and his roots. soo if i HAVE to pick one.. wizard & glass

How old are you? 23

Where are you from? born and raised down south in houston texas

do you have a nickname? sometimes people call me mere, short for meredith

ok so i just finished the series and i'm already having post dt depression, so i googled post dt depression and found this site.

Long Day's and Pleasant Nights

I read Christine in %th grade and have been a King fan ever since. THE Greastest American novelist since Hemingway. Others have written good stuff since (Fight Club is also a fav.) since steven hit the shelves but the single greatest story of modern man has got to be the Dark Tower series it is the one i read every year. Tolkein was a good template and the stories of the ring are magnificient, but the story of Roland and his journey stick to my heart and soul. I read The Gunslinger for the first time in 9th grade( a christmas gift) and love every one. My favorite is always the one i happen to be reading including th stories that are not specifically part of the series but link in(The Stand, Insomnia, Eyes of hthe Dragon, etc.) and add to the confusion that is the mastery of King writing. I am 33 now and live in Erie Pa. U.S.A. and will live by the gunsliger for life thankee sai. Thou R.F.(Walter or who ever he happens to be atm) is the most prolific caracter in King's writings on the surface Roland seems to be every where as well, if hidden and unmentioned and will always be my favorite character ever(Spiderman aka Peter Parker is a very close second- he is actually alittle closer to who i am). Thank You Steven King!
