Remember when people used to scoff at Misery being valued in the 3-4K range? Hahah, now you’d be lucky to find one for 4K! In fact, that would be a relative deal.

It’s semantics. You could look at it like the seller only wanted 4800 for the book, but you could also look at it as the seller was willing to pay 1200 to Camelot to sell his/her 6000 dollar book, thus netting 4800. Either way, the buyer was willing to pay 6000 for Misery, and did. How that sum was split between Camelot and the consignor is somewhat irrelevant.

At this point in time, 4800 wouldn't get someone a numbered Misery here. Kris has been offering 5500 for a few weeks in a couple of different threads and hasn't had any success.

There are two ways to post photos. Either upload the photo to a web site that hosts photos and link to the photo with the http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/images/editor/insertimage.png icon, or you can upload to the site server in the Gallery.

To upload to the site server: Click Gallery. From the upper right of the menu on top of the new page click Upload Photos. Click the Browse button. Navigate to the photo on your hard drive and select it. Repeat for each photo. Click Open. Wait for the photo[s] to upload. When it's complete you will be taken back to your gallery.

You have three picture posting options. You can post the thumbnail, the medium sized image below the thumbnail, or you can click on the medium sized image and another window will open with a full sized image. Right click the image you want. Select Copy Image Location, then click the http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/images/editor/insertimage.png button in the thread you want and paste the image location in the box. Click OK.

It was pretty hard. I spent a lot of time and effort collecting these, and deciding to let them go was difficult. One of the deciding factors was my going to a nursing home with no possibility of ever leaving it. Another was my wife's desire to downsize the house and not having room in the new place for the books. At least, selling them through Betts almost guaranteed that they would go to people who would appreciate them. Just the thought of never seeing them again was, and still is, hard.

This copy was bought new by me, read (very carefully) once, and shelved...so Fine/Fine in Fine slipcase, essentially as-new from non-smoking home.

The last updated value for this book on the Stephen King Collector site is June 2019 and is $250 to $300. I suspect it hasn’t risen much in the last 18 months, so let’s say this copy at low end of $250 with free well-packaged shipping. U.S. shipping only. FROM A BUICK 8, Cemetery Dance Gift Edition, Fine/Fine in Fine slipcase -- book was opened just once to thumb through and enjoy Wrightson's full-color illustrations, etc., but remains unread and as-new. Copies on eBay, ABE.com, and Biblio.com range from $427 to $550, which seems a bit high to me, even for this increasingly scarce and beautiful oversized volume. Let's call it $350, and if no one leaps upon that immediately, I'm open to offers.

I almost added the signed/limited/slipcased CUJO from Mysterious Press -- Fine/Fine/Fine, red, gold-stamped boards, clear plastic acetate d/w, #592/750 -- to this add, but I...just...can't...do it. I was intrigued today to hear of a collector questioning the condition of a Lettered Regulators copy that had been received and was deemed unacceptable. Apparently the tray case was showing some very fine marks in the grain of the tray case.
I am fortunate to own three copies of this particular book and have purchased four others on behalf of other members on this forum. None of the seven copies were without a slight mark of some description. Be it the tray case, the bullet wear marks internally or the rubber buffers slightly marking the leather, if of course the grain of the leather was not already showing natural marks of its own.
I fully appreciate that people new to the world of King collecting are on a learning curve as I soon found out (at suitable expense) myself. However it would seem prudent that when purchasing a book for the first time, especially one of this price bracket, that a little assistance is not secured from the collectors here, of what to expect with each book. To embark on securing a copy not often seen, without doing a little homework from members happy to help, would appear foolhardy in the extreme.
