Disappointed as Steve offered this at $75 just a week earlier and when I agreed he replied "I am now keeping this one' only to relist it here using another member.

Best of luck that your agreement goes through (whomever buys this) but I felt obligated to share this with the group.

Hey folks. I have an old friend who is selling a lot of Cemetery Dance titles. He asked that I share he is selling a gift edition of FULL DARK, NO STARS for $100 if anyone is interested. If so, shoot Steven a message at srjorg2@sbcglobal.net.

That's sketchy. Lot of wiggle room for the seller, but certainly not cool if they didn't sell at that price.
I'd recommend you give them a note through our reputation (Feedback Score) with details so that future members can at least consider the information before consummating a purchase from, or sale to the member or their associates.

I would consider any limited edition that has no 'real' Signature to be grouped as a 'Gift' edition. The term was first introduced by H & S on the UK unsigned Dolores Claiborne.

Unsigned Limited Edition is such a mouthful....

I'm guessing your "Good friend" is the dick you are holding in your right hand. Since when have you become an "expert" on valuing, Stephen King books and art? From what I have seen on these boards you generally mimic the poster above you (often poor Carlosdetweiller) and have extremely poor taste in the art you acquire and then try to sell to the membership (Have you been able to "give" away that, Whelan piece with the lollipop?). Why anyone would take any heed in what you have to say is a fucking mystery to me. I am no where near the expert that others here are, but you are a pretentious prick purporting yourself to be an "expert" that you are not. You have nothing to add to the discussions yet, you think you do. What a delusional ass.

Oh, and do not forget to "second" whatever post, Bob Jackson has yet to to make, you twit.

Feel free to correct me, but it seems like this "Collector" has every other post concerned with the "Value" of the item he has purchased or is seeking to do so. I really hate the implications. You folks won't say it for obvious reasons, but I am a bit tired of the farce.

Please go back to post #1 and read the rules.

IMO you are behaving like an ass, and for unbeknownst reasons you appear to have reverted to the older "less kind" Melin1958.

Do not post in this thread unless you have something to sell, or are personally asked a question by a seller (actually, don't even answer then, a PM will do).

Someone please post something for sale.

In general, a one post per page/day for the same item should be the self imposed limit. That recommendation is not in the rules, but as always, things happen which may need to be officially clarified.

Webstar, try listing UK Revival on eBay with a $100 BIN with free shipping to N. America. You'll reach more customers and with the exchange being favourable for sales to US, you'll get more than just $50 US. After Expedited shipping and the eBay fee, you should have close to $100 CAN net. Try $120 for Joyland and list The Shining sketchbook by itself for $30 BIN with free shipping. Combine the lower end items into a lot and give it a snazzy, attention-grabbing name.

You might even get lucky and sell within Canada. I've been browsing our eBay almost exclusively since our dollar started sinking.

GREAT TIPS!! Thanks mate! I don't have a seller account with Ebay and been bugging a pal to help when needed and he has already gone above and beyond.. so hate to bug him. Surprisingly... Facebook has sold 40% so far of what I have for sale!!!

Hi everyone. New to the forum but not to collecting SK promos. I started collecting book promos back around the time IT was published and was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying the lot of them. I can take some pictures but have to dig them out from under the bed first. I mainly have large blow ups of several books like IT, Eyes of the Dragon, Needful Things, Dolores Claiborne, Gerald's Game, Misery, etc. I also have a few other oddly shaped items, cardboard multi-layered topper displays, etc. and some promo buttons, bookmarks, etc. from that same time period. I can come up with a full list but wasn't sure if this is the proper place to post them.

thanks

Let me throw this out there and all opinions are welcome.

I know this is primarily a Stephen King site, but I have collected quite a bit of Neil Gaiman rarities over the last 10 years and want to know the best venue for selling these items. I have some Lettered editions,, many S/Ls and lots and lots of signed books, some double signed with illustrators, signed proofs and unsigned proofs. I have no idea total value but I'm guessing $20,000 of items.

Is there enough interest here on this site to list these items? I DEFINITELY DO NOT want to do eBay....there is a site Dreamhaven in Minnesota that sells Gaiman signed stuff but I doubt they want to buy a collection as big as mine.

Entertain thoughts from you and thanks!!

I could list at Betts but maybe not the right "audience." I could consign the items with another retailer....VeryFine Books or Camelot Books...just don't know.

There is a gaimon listing on this site and other collectables.

Like Roseannebarr said, promote a big listing here, and in other forums etc, then run it on a specific date through a special collection in your own store.

Agree
I could also be tempted with some of the s/L (I suspect the lettered might be out of my price range but you never know....)

I also admin a 'Neil Gaiman Fans' group on Facebook and would happily spread the word.

I, too, would be interested in seeing what you have. Gaiman material has always done very well for me; the market for the higher-tier items can be quiet at times but on the whole I don't think I've ever had anything truly good that has failed to sell.

Good luck, and if there's a special copy of the SubPress GRAVEYARD BOOK among your treasures. . . .

David, create a section on Bett's for the list of Gaiman stuff and give us at TDT first crack at it! Check out the Other Authors sub-forum in the Dutch Hill forum here.

Ahead of you. I let David know he could list here on the site. I would create a special dedicated section for him to post the stuff.
All he would need on his site is a link to the special "Gaiman" for sale forum here.

Awesome. There's a lot of people in this community who seem to collect books broadly - would be great for us to take a first bite.

Thanks all for your input....I need to inventory everything for condition S/L numbers etc to make a list...also, have no records of what I paid so need to do some research for offer prices...don't want to overshoot or undershoot too badly.

I might have 50 items...thought I had like 3 American Gods S/Ls but just 1 although I do have like 4 Anansi Boys S/Ls one with a very cool spider Remarque from the illustrator...will take some time to get list together but I may post it here first is my gut feel.

Interesting how he made the swirling clouds around the tower look like sailing ships in the finished painting but not in the prelims.

I have a prelim for this piece too. Done in pencil and colored pencil. I would say it falls somewhere between your two in detail. I wonder how many are usually done by an artist before he does the final? Varies by artist I'm sure.

Varies by artist is correct. Phil Hale told me it depends on how he feels. IMO, Prelim drawings are rare to own. I'm honored to have the one's I do. I know the original (final) piece is wonderful, but to have a glimpse of the artist imagination as he/she's putting it together....priceless.

I have some extras I'm willing to sell to get some other things I want.

I just checked Ebay and will do PayPal gift for pricing listed w/ free shipping (media mail to U.S.) or you can pay for special shipping and insurance if you aren't a gambler or live in a 3rd world country (like Canada or the UK). MUHAHAHAHA!!! (evil laugh)

Under the Dome UK S/L #339 ($420)

Under the Dome UK S/L #456 ($420) (sorry Webbie, NOT #459...I went and checked...which is when I decided I might as well sell them)

Night Visions #5 ($225) (King, George R R Martin, Dan Simmons and a couple of others all signed)

Whispers #165 ($420)

Under the Dome US S/L ($300)(The DJ at the top has a tiny little bend it looks like and the card box is not pristine...not sure how it even happened, but book is heavy so must have bumped it)

Under the Dome US Special Collectors Edition ($125) Still in Shrinkwrap

He is Legend S/L ($275) (#601)

Colorado Kid S/L MATCHING NUMBERS PS books with custom slipcase as issued. ($285) Each artist signed their respective book (333 of each book only issued and these are MATCHING numbers.) Need to go check the number they all have, but I know it's the same one! :)

Gunslinger 1st/1st (I know have at least 1 extra one of these and I believe I have at least 1 in VG condition. Minor DJ wear and I think their is some rubbing on the book corner/edge in one spot is all. ($900)

ADDED:
Postscripts 10 s/l #48 and also the Trade Edition so you can look at it not goof up your S/L version! ($250) LOTS of signatures. Fine condition with slipcase as issued

Carrie 1st/1st DJ is Good+ condition and book is in VG'ish condition. I can take pics if anyone is interested. Seems like $900'ish is going rate as I see price clipped ones sold for just below that and author name bad DJ on one for $900. Sooo, $800'ish I guess.

Let me know if I'm way out of line (low or high) on any pricing and I'm happy to double check. (I don't need to sell them. Just would like some more shelf space for other books is all so it's sell or store in a bin...shrug)

The books should be in Fine shape. I don't want to get nitpicked so I will say VG+ and if there is interest in a particular book then I can go check in detail so no surprises for anyone b/c I think most every one is in fine shape actually. :)

If I'm low priced and you want to lock it in then feel free to offer more than I'm asking. I won't argue. Hee Hee (high pitched squealing laugh for some reason).

I might come up with some other stuff when I'm digging around. I think I might have a Dark Dreamers in Fine condition. Lots of signatures like He is Legend and Postcripts 10! Not sure what they go for though.

Will be checking my emails maybe later tonight or first thing tomorrow morning. Remember Paypal gift so I don't pay fees and I've been on here long enough to be trusted but if you are nervous, then you aren't being forced to buy from me. Isn't that nice that I leave you with free will? You are welcome.

I was asked for Carrie 1st/1st pics and I created a link to my OneDrive for viewing to make it easier for everyone.
Flaw Notes:
1. DJ has a few small tears and frayed edges as you can see. There is a larger @2" tear at the bottom one of the flaps that is hard to see, but is there.
2. Discoloration in 2 spots on inside when you open the cover. 1st is hidden by DJ b/c it is just some whitening of the very edge line of the end paper it looks like. 2nd is a lightening in the lower section which is visible with DJ on still...pic makes it look even lighter than it is with normal eye a bit.
3. Pages are super tight by the binding but towards the end flair out a bit which is a bit normal for this book (at least with everyone I've ever owned).

See the pics so make your own call on rating. I think the DJ is actually better than I thought at first. I even took a pic showing what it might look like on your bookshelf since the Carrie 1st/1st is kind of the mainstream JV to Varsity jump. The Gunslinger and Carrie were the two books I've purchased over and over to upgrade my copies. You can see one of the extra Gunslingers in the shelf pic since it's also for sale. :)

I'm willing to budge on the pricing (unless multiple offers come in at asking of course).

Here is the Book Viewing Link for Carrie: http://1drv.ms/1Kj7FEi

Also link for Night Visions 5 s/l and Whispers s/l since I had to take pics for someone for them too. Note: Small bump at base of spine on Whispers. I believe fixable b/c right at end, but I'm not messing with it. Otherwise, coloring and everything is awesome on this copy. Night Visions 5 I see that the slipcase has a tiny ding at the top edge that is VERY small, but I saw it so am mentioning it. Nothing else I saw on either book, so if I rate them VG+ then I should be underrating in my experience. Pictures enable you to make you own call though! :)

This would be worth more if I were to sell it separately but honestly, I'd rather not deal with comic book collectors. You thought we were picky. $50 + $5 shipping for the lot. Three anthologies, one first appearance, one hardcover graphic novel (still sealed) and every (yes, every) one-shot and special DT comic published. If it's not pictured, it's because I stored it on the flipside. Ask away if you want to make sure. The Prisoner alone is a variant and cost $10.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you want a book, you must email me at david@bettsbooks.com. You have 30 days to file an appeal with the
Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (https://www.ca7.uscourts.gov/)

If the court rules in your favor, the Neil Gaiman listings will be removed.

TrueNorth,
My thoughts are with you during this difficult time, I wish you the best.
It truly is sad when one is selling off a collection because of health reasons.
Please keep your spirits high.

I tried selling this on ebay in December, but there was no interest. I droppped the price a bit and am willing to consider offers - $900 incl. shipping to the U.S. payment by paypal only. I inserted a link to the closed auction which still has all of the photos. The jacket and book are in great condition- everything in the ebay description still applies. Thanks for looking - Curt

Welcome to the site. As you might imagine, a new person coming in to sell something may receive less interest until they have established themselves as a member of the community and/or a member in good standing vouches for them.
Best of luck on the item.

Welcome! Stellar selling feedback on eBay isn't a bad start either. Even though you include the price you're wanting here; maybe head over to the Current Market Value thread http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?1987-Current-Market-Value-Experts-assess-yours-or-other-s-collectible-King-item/page240 and send out some feelers on what folks might be willing to pay.

Thank you for the welcome and the advice. I appreciate it.

I based the original ebay starting price on what I paid. I noticed another copy with three remarques offered at $1700 (not sold) and I haven't seen any others sold at all.

Thanks - I am new as far as posts go, but have been lurking. That was one reason I posted the link to ebay, to show that I have some credibility (another was to save time in re-posting the photos :) ) I have sold a couple other King books in the last couple of months on ebay, but that was when I had a special offer for a $5.00 final value fee. Now they want 10%.

Paypal takes care of buyers pretty well also, as far as risk goes.

Thanks for the heads up. I won't be offended if no one bites.

I edited this because I screwed up the reply and wanted to quote the person I was replying to.

It's a nice piece no doubt and one of my all time King favorites. Plus I'm a huge fan of Remarques. I'm more of a low-end collector myself so it's pretty much out of my range of vision. (Back to coach........)

I checked my sent folder and I got that part right. I wasn't insinuating that he take time away from his family or job to assist me right that minute. It's clearly stated on this webpage that Betts is his part time gig. Just thought maybe I'd catch him while he was here posting. I can also appreciate his unique approach to the way he conducts business. I simply didn't see that on his site or overlooked it. That's on me and I accept full responsibility. I also probably should have read the Betts thread to obtain more info. Again, on me for failing to do so. So, David, if you should read this; I apologize for stepping out of line or speaking out of turn. I also work full time and have a family; as I'm sure a lot of us do. I appreciate those commitments as well. Looking forward to hearing back from you :).

I think we all get a bit anxious when we send an email off to Betts. It's like a silent auction - we're waiting to hear back. "Did we get it? Did we get it?!"

Anyway, sorry. Back on thread

I'm also taking offers for the following duplicate DT books below still wrapped in shrink:

The Drawing Of The Three Grant 1st/1st
Wizard And Glass Grant 1st/1st-SOLD
The Dark Tower Grant Artist Ed 1st/1st

Sorry, no new DJ offers for these as you won't need 'em :) but the free media shipping to the lower 48 still applies of course. I hope I'm not stepping out of line for plugging the HF fundraiser but all the money I receive from these sales, as well as the book I just sold, will go back into the HF campaign either via more auction wins for myself or a direct donation. My proof of this is the 5 HF auctions I've already won thus far and RF can verify that (if I don't get jammed up for even mentioning this). A win-win-win all way round!

Yes I would think so.

RC65
03-14-2016, 12:51 PM
Yes, it's a PC. It's unfortunate when these things get out into the public without a "PC" designation, as it allows underhanded sellers to fill it in with an attractive number -- 1, for example, or "217" (for King) -- which obviously creates potential confusion since there are now two copies of the book out in the wild with a "1" numbering. Fortunately, the copy that you are speaking of has maintained its blank number line through whatever succession of honest owners it's had.

No. It's not a PC, it's not a specific number, or letter, it's a blank.
There are reasons that blank copies exist, but each is unique to the publisher, book, and circumstances.

Whatever they are - it's a bit silly releasing them to the general public as blank.

As stated above - one could easily stick any number they wished to in there.

Br!an
03-14-2016, 02:35 PM
It might be considered "Out of series." It might be an unmarked PC copy. It might be an actual numbered/lettered copy that wasn't numbered/lettered.

I have a Bradbury S/L without a number. It came in a special shipping carton. The carton is numbered but the book isn't.

These things happen.

On two occasions, from two different small publishers that we deal with often, I had S/L books delivered that were very damaged. The publishers sent replacements that were "blanks" and they told me to enter the number myself. This was some years ago, but I wonder how widespread it is.

I asked brian from Cd about it, and my understanding it that 4 or 5 books didn't make it back from the printer for proper numbering. So CD did not release unnumbered books. I'm not sure what they would be referred to as. As far as numbering it on ones own, that would be pretty low in my opinion. Even if no one else would know, I would.

I was shocked, more that I had to WRITE ON the book myself - I felt like i was damaging this expensive item. I agonised over the pen, etc. My numbers were matching but, at the time I was new to collecting and thought this was standard. Dodgy.

I've had to number a book myself once. I received a three book matching set but one book wasn't numbered. I contacted the publisher who offered to number it if I sent it back. They went as far as to tell me the exact pen they used if I wanted to do it. They also insisted that they marked down that I had the specific number I requested. I opted to write it myself rather than send it back. You wouldn't be able to tell if you compared them.

No offense - I meant if someone numbered it 1 or 217 on their own. In your situation, you weren't given much of a choice!

Your story and Peripheral's similar story are very interesting. I feel like it's on the up and up as it was in collaboration with the publisher, kind of like you were 'deputized' to do it. I would have agonized about it too if I was in the same position!

My Smoke and Mirrors that I received in a CD grab bag was left blank. I contacted Dan over there about it and he asked me to "PC" it which I had my wife do. My penmanship sucks. It still felt weird but I agree with the "deputized" statement via contact with the publisher.
