WOW, just getting caught up on the thread and I love the speculation in anticipation of my "EPIC" reveal.

Truth is, I did decide to sell off a majority of my #'d S/Ls after coming across a very rare opportunity (thanks to a member of this community) to acquire several unique items that, together, will ultimately be seen as one of the cornerstones of King's legacy.

I can confirm that it is not Steve's children, houses OR the TV/Movie rights to the forthcoming Dark Tower Series.

While I anticipate having 2 of the 3 items by the end of this month, the last piece will likely not be in my possession until Spring 2016. A pretty hefty outlay of cash will still need to be raised prior to having them all together again.

My apologies to those trying to sell books via this thread but the dialogue has been very entertaining and I sincerely appreciate the interest in where my collection is going next.

I'm going to say you'll never find a 1st/1st salem's lot jacket for under 40 grand... and if ever is listed for 40K, it'll probably sell pretty quickly.
It's a lot rarer than the harry potter 1st UK HB editions that sale in that same range.

What would you estimate the going price for one of the 6 copies of The Drum. (the code named mousetrap issue.... since you're the only one with the other story I know of).

Hard to say since, as far as I know, none have changed hands since Prudence Grant offered the copies on eBay in 2002. I wasn't sure how many copies she sold but I suspect your statement that it was six copies is probably right on. She told me that the print run of The Drum never exceeded 350 copies of each issue. I know I paid $500 for my copy with "Code Name: MOUSETRAP." Not sure if the others sold for more or less. My guess would be $2500 to $3000 today but that is just a guess. What are your thoughts?

This may be a new thing but it was $5US dollars for every $500 I tried to move. Not a big deal but it did none the less. It was in my account and done as a friends and family... I sold something and got US funds for it. The money stays in my paypal as US funds... when I found something I wanted... I buy it with the US funds in my account. This has never been an issue and there has never been a charge when gift option used.

It all depends... As for me it is like this:
I have a primary currency set to PLN (polish)
and additional currency configuration for USD and GBP

When I send a GIFT to a friend in USD - I have to pay for currency exchange
additional fee is for money transfer. For GIFT you can choose if you as a sender will pay for it OR it will be paid by receiver (its about 1% for USD)

As for the PAY-FOR-GOODS option - the fee is always covered by seller


Second scenario is when someone from the USA send money to ME.
If he send me USD and i have USD as my paypal currency - it will stay on my PP account as USD
BUT if i don't have USD as one of the currencies for my pp account it will be exchanged to my default currency.

In this situation - you can use this USD to buy something else without additional exchange fees (if you pay in USD)
BUT if you want to withdraw your money and sent it to your bank account - it will be exchanged to your country's currency
(for me it means that in POLAND i cannot send USD to my bank account even if I have an account that accepts USD. IT will always be exchanged to PLN)

Paypal staff does not even know the answer as to why it is charging (the computer system) me where it is US to US funds. My account is held in US funds as I use for books/art. It never did this before either... I asked if this was something new since they broke away from Ebay and the 3 people (and one supervisor) I spoke too did not know. If your account is held in US funds and your paying in US funds.. there is NO fee for a friends transaction. Paypal even says that to me... they are looking into it we speak. If it comes from your balance or from your checking account. You are correct you pay much more (2.9% I think) if it comes from a credit card.

2013 SUBTERRANEAN LIMITED EDITION Hardcover of the SHINING signed by Stephen King. Vincent Chong (illustrator). This is #335 of the 750 copies.

This edition in its beautiful marbled cover, suede leather display case, signed by King, and interior illustrations by the legendary illustrator Vincent Chong is considered to be the penultimate edition of the Shining.

This is a first-time sale. I have been holding onto it since ordering in 2013. It has been opened just twice- first to inspect it upon receiving a couple years ago, and the second time to take the sales pictures a couple days ago. In the meantime, the book has been kept in a plastic bag within the display case which itself has been covered in another plastic bag.

It also includes the exclusive dust jacked received a few months after the book. This has remained completely unopened within its plastic tube.

Also includes the chapbook of Vincent's preliminary sketches that would go on to form the illustrations in the book.

Pictures of the display case interior can be emailed upon request to show that no significant discoloration issues are present in this edition. When the books were shipped back in 2014 most purchasers complained of the marble book cover rubbing off on the suede interior of the display case in transit. That is not a big issue for this copy as the pictures show.

Don't take this the wrong way, but seeing as this is your first post on the forum, you might find that you will have better success with selling your book if you start introducing yourself around a bit and contribute to some of the other threads first, as this will allow members to get to know you.

Due to the lack of selling fees and frequent payment method of PayPal gift, most of the transactions between members on this thread are based on trust and this trust has been built over a period of time getting to know one another. We are a friendly bunch here and always welcome new members to the site, but it would be nice if we could get to know you a bit before you post items for sale on this thread. Agreed with everything you say Tim. I find it odd when I see random people we have never chatted with or got to know trying to sell books. Not saying to not buy from them BUT PROTECT YOURSELF ALL!!! DO NOT pay with Paypal gift. If he wants $550 for his book and it's the first time listing here... he/she should be prepared to eat the 2.9% to gain that trust for future sales and get a positive itrader rating. Just my opinion though.

Cemetery Dance/PS Publishing A Book of Horrors Deluxe Limited Edition.

Artwork by Les Edwards.

This deluxe edition was only produced in a 100 copy print run. Though only 83 copies were sold to the public as 17 were distributed to contributors. This is copy #10.

Signed by all the contributors including Stephen King.

There is a very small split to the inside top right corner of the traycase (see photo below), but this is hardly noticeable. The book is in fine and unread condition.

This copy features two remarques created by Les Edwards, including one which is inscribed.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING EDITION!!!

‘Salem’s Lot: Centipede slipcased edition signed in black ink by King and artist Jerry Uelsmann. #259 of 300. One corner of case bumped. One corner of book slightly bumped. $1,850 (Betts recently sold #79 for $2,200 and another one at $2,100)

The Secretary of Dreams Vol. 2: Cemetery Dance traycase edition. Signed by King and artist Glenn Chadbourne. Book, DJ, and traycase are all Fine. Appears New and unread. #739 of 750. $275

The Shining (Doubleday). First Edition stated; R49 gutter code present. Book is VG, with some soiling and foxing of outer text block. Very slight lean. Internal text block tight with no writing, tears, loose pages, or marks of any kind, other than where the foxing shows on the very outer edge. Not ex-lib; no bookplate. I did see 3-4 pages with a slight corner crease. Book itself not remaindered (but see note regarding DJ, below). Nice lettering on spine with only very slight rubbing. Book corners sharp; some rubbing of boards and cloth from shelf wear, especially at base of spine.

I’d say the DJ is Near Fine. It’s one of the nicer ones I’ve seen. No creases at all on flaps; DJ price of $8.95 clear and sharp. All parts of DJ (panels, flaps, spine) with only the barest hint of soiling. No tears or holes. Minor shelf wear at spine top/bottom and a slight crease at the spine fold. Small remnant of remainder spray on bottom of back internal flap. Protected in Brod-Art. $340.

Would anyone be interested in the UK 'Big Five' 1st/1st editions (NEL Carrie, 'Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift, The Stand) plus UK Danse Macabre 1st/1st? I just closed a deal to acquire some rare proofs that have been on my want list for quite a while now and selling the above would help tremendously in covering the expenses!

This would be a great way to kick-start a collection of UK 1sts!


Carrie: fair to VG condition (ex-library copy with a nice DJ with some chipping and edgewear, but the book itself is flawed and has a spine lean. Still looks good on the shelf and unlikely to find a copy as cheap as this one) - $475.
'Salem's Lot: beautiful NF copy. Its only flaw is that the DJ is priceclipped (as is the case with many copies) - $275.
The Shining: VG+ condition - $300.
Night Shift: NF condition. One of the best copies I've seen! Almost as new. Only flaw a closed tear on the front cover and a few spots on the edge of the text block. $950.
The Stand: VG+ condition - $500.
Danse Macabre: I'd say it's NF for the most part but there are a number of abrasions to the back of the DJ. Still a very nice copy! $450.


I'd prefer to sell the books as a set (with a significant discount) but I'm also open to individual sales.

Does anyone have need of a Reading Copy Only 1st Printing(as if that matters) of The Talisman; Free of charge and I'll pay the postage in the US. DJ is missing and it has my library stamp in it that my grandmother gave me as a young teen. Excellent copy to pass on to another young teen to read Jack's tale for the first time, don't have to worry about them taking care of it. If no one here wants it, I'll take it over to sk.com forums or the facebook groups, but thought I'd give you first crack at this.

I also have a fair reading copy of a later printing of the original The Stand. This however DOES have a DJ. Once again, perfect for that young reader who may not yet take the best care of books. FREE again to the US.

My ask is to take a look at your own stacks and find a couple that are perhaps beat to shit that you've upgraded. Then offer them out as Reading Copies!

You can see from the pics that the slipcase is fraying, coming apart, and even has a glue mark where there was an attempt at fixing. Maybe a new case could be made. They have an unsigned book I'm looking for and is one of the few sites that clearly states wether they are 1st printings or if they are later ones.
They also have, for example a 1st/1st F/F Cujo for $99. That seems to be reasonable but I'm not sure.

Any input greatly appreciated! Also, if you have a site that you prefer, I would love to hear about it.

You can trust VFB. I would go to Bett's everytime though just for the better pricing.... But if you want the book and VFB has it...

I have never had a problem with VJBooks.

They have always been accurate in their descriptions.

The only complaint I have heard is that they will ship internationally in an envelope.

You might want to get on their mailing list and wait for a coupon.

Hey everyone, i have a chance to pick up
The Stephen King Universe S/L #919 from Cemetery Dance.
The book itself is in fine condition. Clean, crisp, and the leather is unscuffed.
The DJ on the other hand has a quarter to half dollar size tear on the front.
I should be able to get it for $40.

It feels like a good deal but would like verification. Also, do you think that CD might have any old DJ's in their back room that they would part with for a reasonable price?

Edit:thanks to Dan's suggestion below, i can get a new DJ for $5!
