The rules are simple.. Do NOT comment on items for sale when it comes to price. There is no need for a misunderstanding in that case. If we all respected it (good or bad) no issue would ever present itself:)

SOLD....Gunslinger 1st/1st for sale. #1

First of 2 Gunslinger 1st/1st that I have for sale:
This one has a bit of the DJ missing on the spine and the book bottom is a bit worn on the corners. There is a bit of lean when I stand it up by itself, but I think you can probably put some weight and fix that. I never noticed it until now. Normal minor things for this age of book.

I tried to take pictures to show the bad stuff vs taking pics to make them better than they are. :)

2nd of the two Gunslinger 1st/1st's for sale.....

Same deal here. Tried to take pics showing issues I can see.

This one has a really nice DJ except a quarter sized tear on cover and another smaller tear on cover. Other minor things are shown, but that's what jumps out. I put a brodart cover on it to minimize any further damage.

Book is in great shape! Only thing I could see at all was a bit of lightening on the book cover (when DJ is off). Nothing else jumped out to me at all.

Not sure what to rate this or the first one.

I looked on Ebay and saw prices range from $600-$1000+ so the range is huge.

What you all think Book #1 is worth? Book #2?

I want to be fair, but I'm saving for a wedding so don't want to give them away! :)

I actually like the "rough edge" look of these.

It was a program that was given out at the event....mostly thanking (promoting) the sponsors.

As far as not being enough for everybody, if anybody really wanted one, they were not that hard to find, as they were left all over the venue after the show.....I picked up several that had been abandoned.

I wish I would have been thinking more clearly. Kerry and I were chatting as we walked out of the theater. I stopped and said, "I want to check for the brochures in case some are left behind." I turned around to re-enter and they wouldn't let me back in.

Sorry, don't mean to derail the thread. Was this sold separately at the event, or was everyone given one? I saw the play in Milwaukee in Oct 2013, but all they gave us was a double sided sheet with the list of songs and actors/singers. If they were selling this separately, I didn't notice. This was before I started officially collecting King, so I probably didn't pay any attention.

Thanks,
Mike

I know a couple of you saw this on eBay but nobody bid. I negotiated with the seller after the auction finished and managed to get it for a pretty good discount. It's NOT a first printing, but still quite an early one. Strange that such a lot of effort went into a book that isnt a first edition but it looks good on the shelf. Not something I would normally collect, but I enjoyed the negotiation

Open to offers if there is someone who likes it more than me. I'm not looking to make anything more than a small profit for my time and effort.

[QUOTE=CurtSeattle;919437]2nd of the two Gunslinger 1st/1st's for sale.....

Any interest in Great Ghost Stories S/L Traycased Edition? Really cool red snakeskin type exterior. I guess this is the "lettered" version. In this case, the letters are "PC".

Not sure of price when released, but I would do $400 (unless that's unreasonable...for me or you) It's in Fine shape.

I have that. Super cool lettered and signed by King. Great price for sure!

I really like the traycase with the red snakeskin look/feel. Love that Brian Lumley signed it...Ramsey Campbell too, but I really like Brian Lumley's stuff the most (King aside) over the others authors that signed it. Now I'm talking myself out of selling. lol

I hate to part with this but I must.

Up for sale is this limited edition 1 of 25 signed limited print of Michael Whelan's Roland at the dark tower. Only the print is up for sale, and to be honest, I don't know what it's worth. Make me an offer and we'll go from there. ;)

I'd love to have this, but alas no wall space available. FYI his website only references a 500 print edition signed in gold pen. Framed: $495, unframed: $195 hope that info helps in some way.

Hi Bill,

There was also 2 Artists Proofs completed after DT7 was published. They were:
1. The Crimson King: # 1 / 9 [ w/ 2 color remarque by Michael Whelan ]
2. The Dark Tower: # 1 / 35 [ with original remarque by Michael Whelan ]

The Crimson King was nearly twice the price of The Dark Tower, but the red colors were so vibrant, it was worth it. It's probably the closest I will ever get to owning the original, as I doubt Michael will ever sell that.

Just thought you might like to know.
Gerald

Thanks. I wasn't suggesting anything for the record. I just went and tried to get a viable price and reported what was printed. I'm sure his piece is valued differently. Just trying to help is all.

I know Bill, I wasn't commenting on your pricing. I have seen that is what the 1/500 is selling for directly from Michael. I was only mentioning the Artists Proofs for posterity, as they sold out very quickly and most collectors wouldn't have known they were even done. I don't believe they ever made it to the Glass Onion website because customers were contacted directly from Audrey, and offered the Artists Proofs when the prints were completed.

I know some collectors here also collect other books so I'll just post this once:

http://i.imgur.com/O8Q3GMP.jpg

Selling my Song of Ice and Fire collection by Subterranean Press. The following three are all lettered 'AA' with remarques by the artist:

Game of Thrones
Clash of Kings
Dance with Dragons

The following are all matching #94:

Game of Thrones
Clash of Kings
Storm of Swords
Feast for Crows
Dance with Dragons

I'm open to offers. All books come with rights to the next matching letter or number. Game of Thrones #94 is not shown in the pic, but only because the shelf ran out of space, it's on another shelf.

Have seen a lot of Don Maitz love recently. Makes me glad; I think the guy's a freaking genius and have been a fan for years.

I have an extra copy of the signed/limited (numbered) first edition of DREAMQUESTS: THE ART OF DON MAITZ (#106/300), published by Underwood-Miller in 1993. The book is barely touched, and other than a bit of slipcase rub to the jacket edges and some minor scuff (and dust) to the slipcase itself, is in topnotch condition. Also, this copy does NOT have a custom sketch in it, so the next time you see Don, you can ask him to tart it up for you.

Comps are at $75. Asking $40, shipped, to US addresses. Please drop a PM if interested.

If anyone is interested, I have a mint copy of Creepshow forsale as I was able to find a signed copy signed by King recently.. Yay for me! I paid $175 for it about 2 years ago and it was boarded and bagged the day it arrived in the bookstore (according to the story about the extreme comic collector who purchased which was included with the book). It is so mint it makes you feel guilty even to look at it. I have kept it secure the 2 years in my possession. Photos on request.

For them what collects foreign editions:

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/KNOMEOR/King--PAVUCINA-SNU_zps2h76uo3o.jpg

Czech edition of DREAMCATCHER, in hardcover w/jacket; may be a book club edition. Book is VG+, showing a bit of light overall wear and handling, minor bumps to top and base of spine, some smudges and a couple of minor dings to page block--better than the description makes it sound, but short of perfect. Jacket is VG- with light overall wear, most significant along the top edge which has some creasing there and greater wear at tips. Penciled price erased from RFEP.

$15 shipped to all US addresses.

We have an extra copy of KNOWING DARKNESS: ARTISTS INSPIRED BY STEPHEN KING. This is from the 1,500-copy edition. It's unread, with the original shrink-wrap still (mostly) on. Condition is topnotch--it's been sitting on a shelf for years--though there may be a tiny bump or two to the slipcase.

Asking $125 shipped to all US addresses.

DT VII S/L #140. $500, postage to N. America and PayPal fees included. I bought this from Betts and the description was F/F/F. Plastic covers on both volumes.

If anyone believes this is too much, please say so. I won't take offense. The number is below 500 so a full set is possible and that is something I factored into the price.

Doctor Sleep - signed trade, first printing, in CD slipcase. F/F. $250 shipped to N. America.

I will be selling much of my collection in the next couple of weeks. Painful but necessary. I'll spend this weekend sorting through my books--figuring out prices, deciding what is best to offer here, what to put up on eBay, etc. I promise not to drag this out for weeks as some sort of mysterious "unveiling." I'm thinking I'll have it all figured out by Monday night, at which time I'll post prices here or links to eBay. At a preliminary glance, I plan on selling the below Stephen King and King-related books.

Signed / Limiteds
‘Salem’s Lot
The Shining
Christine
It
Insomnia
Desperation
Black House
The Colorado Kid
11/22/63
Joyland
Skeleton Crew
Full Dark No Stars
The Secretary of Dreams Vol. 2
The Dark Man
Dr. Sleep
Letters from Hell

Trade Firsts
The Shining / The Dead Zone / Firestarter / Cujo / Pet Semetery / The Talisman
My Pretty Pony
Cycle of the Werewolf
Storm of the Century
Blockade Billy
Creepshow
The Green Mile (paperback set)

First Hardback Appearances (I believe)
Shadows ("Nona")
Shadows IV ("The Man Who Would not Shake Hands")
Dark Forces ("The Mist")
Masques 2 ("Popsy")
The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror; Eighth Annual Collection ("The Man in the Black Suit")
Robert Bloch's Psychos ("Autopsy Room Four")
999 ("The Road Virus Heads North")
The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes ("The Doctor's Case")
I Shudder at Your Touch ("The Revelations of 'Becka Paulson")
First Words ("Jhonathan and the Witches")
Dark Love ("Lunch at the Gotham Cafe")
Legends ("The Little Sisters of Euluria")

Books written about King
Bare Bones
Reign of Fear
Feast of Fear
Kingdom of Fear
The Shape Under the Sheet
The Stephen King Universe
The Essential Stephen King
Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished
Stephen King, The Non-Fiction
Stephen King, The Art of Darkness
The Lost Work of Stephen King

Miscellaneous:
Stephen King Goes to the Movies
Midnight Graffiti (King contributed "Rainy Season")
The Seventh World Fantasy Convention Book (King contributed "The Bird and the Album"), this copy signed by Robert Bloch, Ray Bradbury, Fritz Leiber, Ramsey Campbell, Dennis Etchison; William F. Nolan, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, and Karl Edward Wagner

Arkham House (most likely headed for e-Bay)
various Lovecraft, Derleth, CA Smith, etc., grouped in lots (perhaps as many as 30 - 40 books if I can find the time to photograph all of them this week).

I may add/subtract some titles as I go through my shelves; and I'll be grouping some of the lower priced titles into lots, to save me some shipping headaches.

I don't have time to take individual photos of each book. I'll describe them as fairly and as accurately as I can. For the higher ticket items, I will provide photos upon request.

All books/lots will come with a money back guarantee of price plus whatever shipping cost you paid. I'll make it right if you are not satisfied; I love this site and I'm not going anywhere. All I'd ask is that you cover the return shipping.

Ok; it's late and writing up this post is depressing enough, so I'll stop here. Stay tuned for a final listing with prices early next week.

I had to sell almost everything a few years ago due to the economy. Im just starting to rebuild my collection. It really hurt to let some things go, but pretty much everything can be replaced, The welfare of loved ones cannot. And its true that the chase is half the fun. Your fellow members here will help you recover your treasures when the time comes. And you get the joy of the chase again. Sorry you have to sell. I hope its a short journey back to collecting.

Thanks for the well-wishes, Bill. I sent you a PM.

I had to sell almost everything a few years ago due to the economy. Im just starting to rebuild my collection. It really hurt to let some things go, but pretty much everything can be replaced, The welfare of loved ones cannot. And its true that the chase is half the fun. I appreciate the encouragement. It means a lot.

As far as the sale goes, I've already started receiving some PMs. However, I've decided to finish sorting through everything before I open them. I'm doing a lot of research to see what price points are reasonable, and I don't want to get bogged down in side deals quite yet. I will say that once I've got prices nailed down, I'll check the PMs. If you've already hit my target, well, you got it. Otherwise, I'll see what happens after posting Monday night (either here or on eBay).

I don't want to Bogart the thread and distract from some of the awesome deals currently on the table from other sellers. So, no more from me here until Monday evening!

This is perhaps more of a "Wanted" item, than a King item for sale. I'm not sure the spirit of the thread is for bartering.

Sorry didn't mean to break the rules. I will post there.

Ok, below is the list of items for sale. PayPal, check, or money order--it’s all good. Buyer to cover shipping for items up to $400. From final price $400 - $800, we’ll split shipping 50/50. Final price over $800, I’ll cover all U.S shipping costs (international will still be 50/50).

Buy one book or group, pay list price. Buy two books or groups and take 10% off the lower priced item. Buy three or more books/groups, take 15% off the lowest price item and 10% off all other items (except for the highest price item, which remains at list).

I’ve tried to price at market value, based on Betts and The Collector and recent eBay action. (I believe all my prices for the S/L’ds are at or below recent Betts sales or listed prices). If you think a price way too high, then just stay away from it. I would respectfully ask that if you are at, say, a $20 or so difference, just bite the bullet. I’m not in the mood to haggle over $20. Sorry to be blunt, but I’m trying to sell almost 120 books between here and a bunch of Arkhams on eBay and I’ve got my hands full enough. Plus, I’ve tried to accommodate some generous built-in savings with my shipping and % discount deals.

As I mentioned before, if you are not satisfied you can return the book(s) for a full refund of cost + initial shipping. Return shipping is on you. My return policy is “no questions asked.” If you tell me you want to return, that’s all you have to say. I would respectfully request that you only use this if you believe the book was misrepresented or if I missed something, and not because you happened to find it $20 cheaper somewhere else. Fair enough?

I’ve done my best to describe my books accurately and fairly. If you want photos or to discuss more, feel free to ask via PM. Be advised that I work/commute 14 hours a day, am dealing with these books, am in the process of listing 50 Arkham House books on eBay (which requires all sorts of effort). Plus, you know, life circumstances. So please be patient.

First person to PM me a commitment to buy gets the book. I certainly don’t mind you asking for photos, discussing condition, taking your time thinking it over, etc. but if someone else comes in with payment, that person gets the book, regardless of any ongoing conversations.

All books kept in a smoke-free home.

Signed/Limited editions

1) ‘Salem’s Lot: Centipede slipcased edition signed in black ink by King and artist Jerry Uelsmann. #259 of 300. One corner of case bumped. One corner of book slightly bumped. $1,925 (Betts recently sold #79 for $2,200)

2) The Shining: Subterranean Press traycase edition. Signed by King and artist Vincent Chong. #121 of 750. As new. You may recall that this edition was issued with several prominent flaws; namely, blue dye from the cloth boards bleeding into the suede interior of the traycase, and rubbing marks on the front and back covers, especially where the marbled papers meet the cloth boards. My copy exhibits relatively minor rubbing (many copies are quite bad in this regard), and absolutely no blue transfer. I’m sure this is one of the better copies out there, based on some of the photos I saw from others with the rubbing. And yes, it does have the follow-up DJ included. Comes with a Chong “Sketches” chapbook. $650 (Betts has one for sale at $799)

3) Christine: Grant slipcased edition. Signed by King and artist Stephen Gervais. #712 of 1000. Book itself is Fine; DJ with slight rubbing from sliding in/out of slipcase and one hard-to-find small tear (about 1/4 inch). $700 Only available on eBay (currently has bids)

4) It: Cemetery Dance 25th Anniversary Special Edition in traycase. Signed by King and artists Glen Orbik, Alan Clark, and Erin Wells. Mint as New. #561 of 750. $950 SOLD

5) Insomnia: Ziesing edition in traycase (sortof a wraparound slipcase, I guess). Signed by King and artist Phil Hale and designer Arnie Fenner. #60 of 1250. Book, DJ, and case are all Fine. $350 (Betts has one for sale at $375) SOLD

6) Desperation: Grant traycased edition. Signed by King and artist Don Maitz. #1563 of 2000. Errata slip present, as issued. Book and case are both Fine. $350

7) Black House: Grant traycased edition. Signed by King, co-author Peter Straub, and artist Rick Berry. Fine book (appears new and unread) in Near Fine traycase. #328 of 1520. $350

8) The Colorado Kid (Miller variant): PS Publishing slipcased edition. Signed by King, artist Edward Miller, and introduction contributor Charles Ardai. Book, DJ, and slipcase are all Fine. Appears new and unread. #110 of 150. $300 SOLD

9) 11/22/63: Scribner U.S. collector’s edition with DVD and special DJ. Comes in a nice aftermarket slipcase. Signed by King but not numbered (supposedly 850 were issued). Mint as New. $500

10) Joyland: Titan Books (Hard Case Crime imprint). Book and DJ are Mint as New. Signed by King. #164 of 724. $325

11) Skeleton Crew: Scream Press slipcased edition. Signed by King and artist J.K. Potter. Fine book and DJ, as issued with a Potter print laid in. Also has original invoice ($75!!). Original slipcase has a horizontal wrinkle that looks like it came that way from production; does not affect the side with the color print. #831 of 1000. $640 SOLD

12) Full Dark No Stars: Cemetery Dance deluxe special edition in traycase. Signed by King. Mint as New. #521 of 750. $440 Only available on eBay (currently has bids)

13) The Secretary of Dreams Vol. 2: Cemetery Dance traycase edition. Signed by King and artist Glenn Chadbourne. Book, DJ, and traycase are all Fine. Appears New and unread. #739 of 750. $300

14) The Dark Man: Cemetery Dance traycase edition. Signed by King and artist Glenn Chadbourne. Book, DJ, and traycase are all Fine. Appears New and unread. #9 of 500. $325 SOLD

15) Dr. Sleep: Cemetery Dance traycase edition. Signed by King and artists Vincent Chong and Erin Wells. Mint as New. #322 of 750. $525 (Betts has two for sale at $550 and $575) Only available on eBay (currently has bids)

16) Letters From Hell: Lord John Press broadsheet. Signed by King. Near Fine to Fine condition; mounted on cardboard; not framed. Slight wear on edges/corners, but that won’t show once framed. #200 of 500. $325 SOLD for $400 on eBay

Trade First Editions

The Shining. First edition stated; R49 gutter code present. Book is VG, with some soiling and foxing of outer text block. Very slight lean. Internal text block tight with no writing, tears, loose pages, or marks of any kind, other than where the foxing shows on the very outer edge. Not ex-lib; no bookplate. I did see 3-4 pages with a slight corner crease. Book itself not remaindered (but see note regarding DJ, below). Nice lettering on spine with only very slight rubbing. Book corners sharp; some rubbing of boards and cloth from shelf wear, especially at base of spine.

I’d say the DJ is Near Fine. It’s one of the nicer ones I’ve seen. No creases at all on flaps; DJ price of $8.95 clear and sharp. All parts of DJ (panels, flaps, spine) with only the barest hint of soiling. No tears or holes. Minor shelf wear at spine top/bottom and a slight crease at the spine fold. Small remnant of remainder spray on bottom of back internal flap. Protected in Brod-Art. $400.

Thinner. First edition stated with full number line. Beautiful book. Nicest copy I’ve seen. Looks like it has never been opened to read. Small ink dot at bottom of text block towards the very end of the book (looks like a publishing error). Barely visible when book is closed. DJ is likewise beautiful. Hint of a crease at flap fold; otherwise looks new. Protected in Brod-Art. $100 Only available on eBay (currently has bids)

My Pretty Pony. Oversized in slipcase. One small indention on bottom of slipcase (rear); otherwise, book and case appear unread. $110 (Betts recently sold one for $125)

Cycle of the Werewolf. I grade this copy as Fine book in Near Fine+ DJ. Book is tip-top. We all know that this book is hard to find with a nice DJ. Spotting and creasing are common, as is the infamous fading of the spine. My copy has none of these issues to any real extent. Slight shelf wear rubbing of DJ, and a hint of a crease on one of the flap folds. If you squint your eyes just right, you may conclude that the spine is slightly lighter than the panels, and perhaps it is. Overall, a book to be proud of. $225 (Betts has a NF/NF for $220) Only available on eBay (currently has bids)

Blockade Billy. Fine as new in slipcase. Baseball card included. $75 Only available on eBay (currently has bids)

The Dead Zone / Firestarter / Cujo / Misery / Eyes of the Dragon / It / Pet Semetery / The Talisman / Different Seasons / Green Mile 1-6 paperbacks (no slipcase): All are bona fide First Editions, but most I would consider in reading condition, not collectible condition. Misery is perhaps the best; looks almost new. Cujo and Different Seasons are also pretty nice. These and the others have various soiling, creases, edge wear; It has an owner’s name on the inner board. The Dead Zone has some large tears of the DJ, but they are internally fixed and not real noticeable at a glance. This is not an exhaustive list of defects; just things I happened to notice. Make offer for one or combo. If you are buying a high-ticket item(s) and you need one of these for your shelf, perhaps I’ll throw it in if you ask me.

1980 Creepy Combo

New Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos (first appearance of “Crouch End”): Published by Arkham House. Stated First Edition with $11.95 price on DJ flap. Book is Near Fine (some soiling/foxing of outer text block). DJ is likewise Near Fine. Would be Fine+ except for a couple of faint tape ghosts where an old-style DJ protector was taped to the inside of the DJ. Also includes stories from Brian Lumley, Frank Belknap Long, Basil Copper, T.E.D. Klein, Ramsey Campbell, and a couple of others.

Dark Forces (first appearance of “The Mist”): Published by Viking. First Edition with $16.95 on DJ flap. Book is Fine; no flaws I could see. DJ is Very Good++. Only area with an issue is base of spine where there was creasing and a tear that was repaired internally. Otherwise, looks great. Also includes stories from some of the biggest names in supernatural horror, including Joyce Carol Oates, Ray Bradbury, Robert Bloch, Theodore Sturgeon, Russell Kirk, Gahan Wilson, Robert Aickman, Ramsey Campbell, Charles L. Grant, Manley Wade Wellman, and others.

Sold together: $150

Well, if you are holding out for the "better" Lovecrafts, I sold those last year. Including all original copies of The Outsider, Beyond the Wall of Sleep, Something About Cats, Marginalia, and a few others. What you see on eBay right now is the rest of the Lovecraft. Tonight I'm posting mid-tier CA Smith, Wandrei, Lumley, and van Vogt. (Again, all the first-tier items sold last year). Tomorrow will be a shitload of Derleth to wrap up the offerings.

But let's not get distracted from the King books here. Lots of good stuff to buy!

I know I'm an idiot, but I'm not sure how to link directly to my auctions other than suggest you search under my username divemaster13. Of course I can pull them up, but the URL starts with my.ebay.com, which doesn't appear useful to anyone but me.

Parting ways with a Ray Bradbury signed copy of Dandelion Wine with Stephen King intro (the 1/200 edition from PS Publishing) with slipcase in NF/NF with NF slipcase. NF all the way around. The artwork in this edition is spectacular.

My copy is #2 of the 200 - will double check and edit this post. The unsigned trades of these are even selling pretty high. The slipcased signed copies like this one look to be consistent on ebay and abe for about $299 plus shipping.

I'm looking for $260 via standard PayPal payment or $250 via PP gift. I'll cover standard shipping (very well-packed) in lower 48 US States. For rest of US and international shipping, I'll work with interested buyers to come up with fair method of splitting the cost.

Pictures are standing by to send via email. Just PM me. Thanks!

Edit: This slipcased copy is one of 200 slipcased and signed by Bradbury this edition retailed for ~$200 from PS in 2007

Several have asked if this is one of the 100 copy edition signed also by King - that edition contains two volumes in a larger red slipcase that retailed for ~$750. Not what I'm selling. I have the 1/200 in NF+ condition. Thanks!

Salem's Lot, 2nd state (father Cody). I'm no expert on condition, but I bought it from Betts last year and if my memory is correct he had it listed at vg/vg. The dust jacket has some chipping on the spine, and a previous owners name is written on the front end paper. However, overall a very nice copy. Tight binding, no lean. Includes custom slipcase. Asking 500 pp gift, or add 3 percent for goods and services, shipped in the US international at cost.

Roadwork 1st/1st US edition. Nice copy, only issue is typical yellowing - 150
Running Man first - good copy, writing on the bottom page block - 50
The long walk first -slight spine lien and a small library mark on title page - 100
Thinner first - fine copy, no defects I can see - 100

Or all bachmans for 350.

Signed first paperback of Best of american short stories - perfect condition - 130

You didn't ask or, present yourself as a member in need. I do what I can, for who I can and if I can. It's not a "scheduled" kinda thing, just board "coolness" I suppose. Do unto others, right?
