Perhaps the announcement of "Thinner" lettered of 26 copies from PS? 3500.00 I think is nuts.......but if I was rich, I'd go after it.

I've got a few books that aren't King, but I figure there might be a bit of overlap in collectors' interests (hope that's okay). The prices listed are the same as EBay, but obviously I'll offer a better deal to members if sold through here as I won't EBay fees, plus you're all kinds of cool.

George Martin's A Dance with Dragons and Clash of Kings signed, lettered 'AA' editions. Click on the image below to see the album. The matching letter of A Game of Thrones is already ordered and will be shipping soon from Subterranean Press. Rights to the matching letters for editions in the future are included. Open to offers.

Trade edition of "Knowing Darkness" Artists inspired by, Stephen King. Asking $250 with all proceeds going to the Haven Fund. I will even pay the s/h in the U.S. as part of the donation. The book comes complete with the acrylic case for the book. You can donate the price direct to the widget, just PM me in advance with your address and intent. Great book, nice case and a good cause. I do smoke, but the book has been in the case since it arrived here. Since you would be paying for it through a donation, you can even write it off on your taxes next year!!! Also, the HF will not be charged a dime, 100% of the price goes to the HF!!!

I don't have pics currently, but if its a deal breaker I can take and forward some to you. Will also entertain reasonable offers, but from my research on the price, plus the case and s/h (U.S.) and the fact that it is a charitable donation, I think it is a fair price. Will work something out for Intl buyers.

I know I am going to regret this in the long term, but I am offering up for sale my PS Publishing Anniversary set. All books are in mint condition as received from the publisher and are a matching number set (#14) The exception is the Thinner variant which is #15.

Set consists of :

Christine (#14)
Pet Sematary (#14)
Carrie (#14)
Thinner (Les Edwards Variant #14)
Thinner (Edward Miller Variant #15)

If you don't already have a matching numbered set, this is probably the only chance you will have to get one.
This is not a fire sale, I will not let these go for a low price. I need to raise some $$ and these are the items that I have chosen to let go.

Please PM me with sensible offers. Sold as a complete set only - I will not be selling individual books.

I think it kind of answers the question on whether copy #1 adds value... :D

Well, you only had the one bid, so it had added value to that particular buyer.

Prolly the guy with the Carrie # 1

That was the entire point of the exercise. I listed the two books at an outrageous price in order to try and entice the person who has my #1 of Carrie into the auction. If I couldn't have a complete matching set of these books because of the person who was given my #1 of Carrie by mistake, then I was going to make sure that person paid me a huge amount of money to have the matching set. I figured only the person with the #1 of Carrie would be so quick to bid on a starting price of £420 + £38 shipping, for two books that originally cost only £59 each...

This is also the reason why I chose to sell the books on Ebay, instead of this thread!

I've mentioned it before in this thread, but hadn't listed them on eBay yet. So here they are with a little over a day left to go:

For several reasons, I'm calling it a day on the PS editions.

I feel that I have made a clean break by selling both Christine and Pet Sematary.

Fair enough! At least you still got the CD editions coming out regularly, you'll be able to replace Pet Sematary with a CD edition, eventually.

Revival signed... perfect shape and free shipping from Canada to anywhere in Canada or the US. I am asking $190:) Also open to trades!

Also.. something else I can do as well. I did this for Ralph. I can scan in the highest res possible. So... say you love the cover of any King book and want a nice image.. I can do it. I also will send multiple styles of paper as well. So I did the cover of the S/L of Talisman and did 5 or 6 prints on different paper and mailed them out. I will only charge you $10 and the shipping which will not be much. If you walked in off the street you would pay about $30-$40 for this service. Just a thought. I am going to scan some of my favorite covers here when I have time... put them on a woven linen card stock ( very classy looking paper) and make a colage of them and frame it. Anyways... thought for you guys out there. Trying to raise some money for a project and know this works and have one happy camper already:) Thanks!

Not trying to rain on your parade cause it sounds cool but it also sounds like copyright infringement. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Eyes Of The Dragon RED MUMBER
88/250
this is one of 250 copies numbered in red ink reserved for private distribution by King. This is copy number 88. This copy has a signed presentation inscription by King on the title page. For Jake and Betty Bennett Hope you enjoy the story (in spite of its very untransformational grammer), and that your holidays will be pleasant- All best, Stephen King 11/30/84. King has also written at the top of the limitation page Presented to the Bennetts-. This copy was presented to Professor Jacob and Elizabeth Bennett. Jacob Bennett was a Professor of English and taught for many years at the University of Maine at Orono. Stephen King was a student in his linguistics class when he attended the University. They had a friendship for over 35 years. Professor Bennett served as inspiration for a character in THE DARK HALF-Rawlie DeLesseps.

There may not be much interest in this because you can get these from Jeff Whiley with the custom blocking, but I ended up with duplicate slipcases for Carrie, 'Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift and The Stand. These are NOT the ones with the custom blocking. It's black slipcases with gold lettering and the name "Stephen King" printed on the side. I paid £12.95, or around $19ea. Looking for just $10 each plus shipping if anyone's interested. They're all in perfect condition.

Sorry if I'm putting this in the wrong section - I'm new to this so please forgive me!

Anyway, I have 20 Stephen King related items for sale on eBay this month - most are 1st editions and there are some real rarities as well. 10% off any item if you want to buy off-eBay. The prices are exactly what I paid for each item myself. I'm trying to break even, not make a profit, so please don't ask me to lower prices, as doing so would result in a personal loss. Sorry!

Here's the link:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=stephen+king&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&_udlo=&_udhi=&_ftrt=901&_ftrv=1&_sabdlo=&_sabdhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_fss=1&_fsradio=%26LH_SpecificSeller%3D1&_saslop=1&_sasl=mountainstreambudo&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=200

You paid $499 for Stephen King LUCKEY QUARTER in USA Weekend June 30 1995 UNFOLDED Super-RARE!!

You can get this for $3 easily.

Goldmember - you're certainly entitled to your opinion. Those are the prices I paid for the books. It's all about condition. Regarding The Shining in particular - this copy is really, really nice - copies in such condition are selling for $800 - $1000 on ABE and other such sites. Because of the one significant flaw to the book (remainder spray), I don't think that $600 is an unfair price considering its condition. If you can show me copies in equal condition selling for considerably cheaper, I'd love to know.

Well, as I'm starting to feel personally attacked over this post, I'm going to keep future sales limited to eBay and won't mention them here. If I could figure out how to remove this one, I would. Sorry for offending you guys with what you feel are unfair prices. -N

I don't think anyone is attacking you. You are allowed to post whatever books at whatever prices you want. If someone weighs in with their opinion that's all it is, their opinion. You can choose to take the advice or not, but ultimately it's your sale, not ours.

NoahM
03-24-2015, 06:16 AM
Well, perhaps "attack" was too strong a word. . .I should have said, I don't want to start a controversy over prices.
I'm trying to sell a number of things that I've had for a while, to make space and to regain exactly what I paid. That's why all of these items on eBay are Buy-It-Now and not auction. Not looking to make extra profit or to gouge people with unfair prices.
This post has been up for an hour and already a number of people (both publicly and privately) have said that the prices are unfair. So, I'd rather avoid that kind of thing in the future as these kinds of posts make me feel that people think I'm out to intentionally fleece people, which is not my intent at all.
So, again, sorry for taking up time & space. I'm going back to the collecting pages now. Thanks & all best!!

Noah, please don't stop posting in this thread, as Nick said. Such controversies about pricing are relatively common here and should NEVER be taken personally. If you are asking what you think is appropriate, so be it.

NoahM, allow me to be the first to apologize for ANYONE here bringing up your pricing publicly and not on the private PM which is the owner's RF's rules. All you guys know better and a prospective new member feels like shit in front of everyone. Shocker some here are at it again so soon. There are good people here to help but they should be doing it via PM. Ignore the rest buddy and welcome... have fun and learn lots.

NoahM, I think that you are overreacting a little bit.
It's not because some people gave their opinion on your prices and that someone made a joke about it that you should leave... If you put your books for sale at your prices, surely you can guesss that some people wouldnt not agree with those prices, but then... they simply dont have to bid. That's it.
Good luck with your sales, and my advice would be for you to stay here longer. It's a really comfy place here, and soon you will also comment on other people's prices ;)

My 2c NoahM, as I feel responsible for telling you to post here. I very nearly PM'd you to warn that you may get comments on prices. It is SUPPOSED to be actively discouraged to openly comment on prices that are offered here. The practice should be either a PM if the amount is felt outrageous or just ignore the post. As bdwyer stated, it is occasionally tolerated when in fun but I agree it should not be done to new members. The price you ask is entirely down to you - the market will decide if you make a sale.

Edit And as you can see in the time it took me to post, RF actively patrols....

I was way off with my valuation of this USA Weekend magazine. I said it was worth $3, but it is actually $4.50. It is still available direct from the publisher.

I "met" Cheech once while he was grocery shopping. I even made him laugh.

I was remodeling a grocery store on the southern edge of Oxnard in the early 1980s. It was the first grocery store north of Malibu. Cheech lived in Malibu and had limited options for grocery shopping. He could go to the Trancas Market in Malibu where papparazzi are always present. He could go south to Santa Monica and be a little more anonymous, or he could go north.

He was shopping with his wife. I walked past while he was in the check out lane. Our eyes met, and he could tell that I knew who he was. He looked a little worried since he came all that way in order to not be bothered. I smiled, put my hands in my pockets, slouched down and strolled on by, like he was famous for doing. He laughed, nodded and did a thumbs up.

I've always thought it humorous in terms of what the seller must think when an item like this sells out within minutes. Like how perplexed they must be as to why they got a bunch of orders for the same item all at once... With USA Today, I'm sure it's not even noticed though...

Below is what I have left for sale. I'd love to sell it all but I am open to piecing it out one by one. No set prices, just throw out a semi-fair number. I'd love to clear this stuff out of here. Message me with any questions or offers.

Instead of posting a bunch of images, I figured I'd just leave the link here:

Anyone interested in a couple of Phantasmagoria issues? It's not a complete set, unfortunately, but the missing issues (#1,2,3 and 8 if I'm not mistaken) should not be too hard to track down. The magazines are in unread condition. The newspaper-sized issues are folded and some contain address labels, but they're otherwise in pretty decent condition. Sorry for the crappy photo...

Any reasonable offer will be accepted. These don't take up much space but they don't fit in my collection anymore.

Anybody interested in two copies (no dust jackets) of 'Salem's Lot? These are the Doubleday original versions in poor condition.

*One has been ruined with black sharpie marker across the top & bottom and there is paper loss to the cover. Gutter code of "U48"
*The other is a "Q41" and in much better shape, though there is considerable tape residue to the cover and to the front FFEP and the back FFEP.

Again, no dust jackets. Both in poor shape, but perhaps you might enjoy them. $20 and they're yours. LMK. I can ship tomorrow.

I don't know that $2800's really too low - but $2400 is certainly not too high.

Good looking books - good luck!

I just got the s/l of Faithful as part of the Secret Stephen King Grab Bag. It's a nice book, but being a Yankee fan I cant find a place for it on my shelf. So if anyone is interested, I'll say 125 shipped if in the US, international at cost, pp gift. Or make me what you think is a fair offer. It's 129/350, perfect condition.

Would a "stamp" of Stephen King's agent ruin a book or make it more interesting?

I picked mine up recently for $60. I had been looking for one in mint condition for a long while. I would gladly have paid $100 for it.

Stroppygoblin is right. Around 60, but paying more for a VF one is no problem for most as it is so hard to find without minor rubbing wear on the jacket. I got really lucky and found one for 35 a year ago. It's all about patient, and sometimes, patience will pay off. I sold one with minor rubbing for 60 after I found the VF one for 35.

I don't think there is any harm in soliciting an opinion on a value of something, but that said, there is a dedicated thread for that here (http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?1987-Current-Market-Value-Experts-assess-yours-or-other-s-collectible-King-item).

The following are for sale through Friday evening. I'd like to ship any sales Saturday morning as I'll be on travel and otherwise occupied for most of the rest of May. First to confirm payment gets the book. I certainly don't mind answering questions or e-mailing you photos, but there will be no "holds" while doing so, in case someone else confirms payment. Buy one book and we split Priority Insured shipping in the U.S. Buy 2 books and take $25 off and I'll cover U.S. shipping. Buy 3 or more books, take $75 off and I'll cover U.S. shipping. For any international shipping I'll chip in $20; anything else is on you.
