I have a mint 1st printing of the new UK Paperback Dr Sleep. It is the light variant cover. This was purchased for another member here who unfortunately received this variant from Amazon (The Dark cover was expected.) If anyone is interested please let me know. I may also be able to procure a 1st print of the other variant as well. Cost is £4 plus shipping for each book. (half cover price).

I bet, Alan would be interested in this.

Being in the UK, he can pop into his local WHSmith and pick one up! Save on the postage :)

Yeah, as usual I was a bit confused again. I was just thinking of my good friend before thinking about the situation, my bad. You are absolutely right.

Bill, nice of you to think of me my friend, but as Simon correctly said, I'll be able to pop in to WH Smiths and grab a copy. Probably today in fact! :D

For sale - first appearance of The Old Dude's Ticker. Condition NF, with slightly faded lettering on spine (I assume, since it's not as red as the lettering on the front cover anymore). Cheapest one on ABE is $295. My asking price is $160 plus shipping, and I'll throw in a mint ARC of CD's Big Book of Necon, containing the same story.

From Justin Brooks' Bibliography:

Necon XX: Twentieth Anniversary Commemorative Volume, edited by Bob Booth. Bristol, RI: The Necon (Northeastern Writers’ Conference) Committee, July 2000, trade paperback, p. 25-30. Only 333 copies of this program were printed, and 200 were distributed as part of the Necon XX (July 13-16) registration package, which was given away to the 200 attendees, while the remaining copies were reserved for contributors (two apiece) and replacement copies.

And would anyone here be interested in a set of Cavalier issues with 1st appearances of short stories by Mr. King? I still have about eleven of them left, ranging from 1970 to 1977. For a full set I think you would need four or five more (I traded those for another collectible recently).

I would sell the set of eleven for $400 plus shipping, which is CHEAP. I'm also open to trades.

I will post a pic of the set tonight or tomorrow.

I'm in a situation where I need to come up with some cash. I've been 98% buyer on these boards and only very rarely ever sold anything. But now I gotta.

Before I turn to contemplating which of my King books to sell, I want to see if there is any interest in any of my Arkham House books. This would be great opportunity to augment (or start) a collection if that is an area of interest for you. I've got most of the important titles: The Outsider and Others; Beyond the Wall of Sleep; A Hornbook for Witches; Spells and Philtres; Out of Space and Time; The Dark Chateau; and a ton of other titles, some common; others less so.

PM me with any follow-up. If there is no interest I'll figure out if I'll do eBay or start looking at my King collection.

Regards,
Dave

The Gunslinger Grant 1st/1st SOLD

The dust jacket is in poor shape. The book itself is pretty good condition. Boards are straight, no bumps, but do show some slight shelf wear. Pages show yellowing but are still tight. Flipped through each and every page. All are perfectly clean except for the illustration in the photo below with the tiny crease in the top corner.

Well, I guess saying that I was interested to see pics (in response to the original, non-edited post) failed to convey the message that I was also potentially interested in buying. I guess I should have said 'I'm interested in seeing some pics and would you PLEASE give me your PP address as well so I can IMMEDIATELY infuse your bank account with juicy dollars if I deem the book to be worth your asking price'.

Lesson learned.

Patrick
06-04-2014, 08:26 PM
Yes, that would have sent a clear message. Lol

As a third party observer, I don't think he made any error in selling the book. I thought you just wanted to see pics. Your level of interest and intent to make a purchase was not at all clear in your post. That is based only on the public posts, of course. No idea what you may have said via private means.

biomieg
06-04-2014, 10:53 PM
I disagree - responding to his initial (now edited) post with an interest to see pics implied that I would also be interested in buying if I liked what I saw. If I weren't interested in buying a copy in the first place I would have said 'I do not intend to buy your book but I'm curious to see the condition it's in so go ahead and post some pics.'

But I'm a foreigner so what do I know about the finesses of the English language anyway? :) I'll get over it.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion "I'm interested in seeing some pics" means that you are interested in seeing some pics. Nothing more. Also.......KingFan sent me a PM expressing interest in buying the book (not just an interest in seeing photos) 40 minutes before your initial post.

Even if I were to take his "I'm interested in seeing some pics" as a "hey, I'm interested in possibly buying the book", he still would have been 4th in line.

Who knew selling a book could cause such drama. Geeesh.

Relax, apparently several people thought my intentions were clear, whereas others felt I should have been more explicit. From now on every post I write will be a pure expression of unambiguous prose.

Apparently 5+ years of TDT membership and 5000+ posts without major misunderstandings lulled me into a false sense of security, thinking I'm able to get my point across. Oh well.

Selling:
The Dark Man S/L, #416, unread. Asking $325
The Very Best Of Best New Horror S/L #66. Asking $300

I will likely be listing more in the next few days. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm listing these on the Cemetery Dance forum as well.

Also selling my NM copy of Borderlands 5 S/L #350. Asking $175

I forgot to add earlier, $6 for shipping for each. All serious offers considered. If someone wants all three, I'll knock $75 off the total price.

knocking $25 off the asking price on each of these.

Don't feel too bad... As soon as I saw post, I sent him an email with my email address for pics stating, " I am interested and have a replacement cover for it." and heard or saw nothing in response.
Perhaps spam intervened or I was not as quick on the draw.

No worries, I'm not made of sugar (is that an expression in English as well?). But as a Gunslinger 1st is the only US 1st trade edition I do not yet own I got a little agitated. It's not the first time I miss out on an opportunity like this.

Oh, and I don't begrudge the person who got this at all.

Sorry you missed out on this book, Michaël. Same for you others who tried. Congrats to buyer.

Okay - heres my point of view. I told Michael that if he had messaged brighter before I had, or even posted that comment before I had, that he could have the book. I told him it was certainly his if he had beat me.

If you look at brighters post, he states that I was the very first to message him, 40 minutes prior to him receiving any other type of communication from anyone.

Twice last week members were selling items that I really wanted. Twice I was told that I was a day late and a dollar short, as they say (I believe 3rd in line and 2nd in line of letting my intentions known). I have no idea what went on with PMs or emails, so I have to take their word that I suck.

Just have to wait for the next great deal, as with this website, there's always another!

Maybe a new policy needs to be implemented here - maybe potential buyers need to post here first that they are interested in the book to establish priority. Email can end up in spam folder or actually be received much later than when it is actually sent.

Ok folks kingfan bought it square and fair. No new policies needed. The only caveat I would add is that as a seller I reserve the right to sell to whomever I please. If it is someone I've dealt with here before successfully or if it is someone who cut me a good deal before, they get priority regardless of order.

I don't think we need a new "policy". Almost all of the time transactions occur with both parties being satisfied. When someone is upset, I think the community is self-policing.

Hate to do this, but I need to take care of a couple of things. Selling My S/L Gunslinger #196 and Drawing of the Three #473

I'm not a seller hardly at all. Checked eBay and ABE for pricing guidance--not much help. I think the cheapest DT I on ABE is $7,500 which is ridiculous. The Collector estimates "$6,000 - $7,500" and documents one sold last November for $4,900.

I'm asking $4,600.

Cheapest DT II on ABE is like $1,400 which is also way too high, especially for a number over 500. (With mine, you get a number <500). The Collector estimates "$1,200 - $1,600" and documents one sold last November for $1,100 (not sure if below 500 or not).

I'm asking $1,000.

Priority insured shipping included.

PM any interest, questions, etc. Will be glad to supply additional photos upon request.

To prevent any misunderstandings, any PM merely asking for photos or posing questions will not be considered a "pending sale" or "commitment to purchase."

Patrick has first dibs on DT I if he wants it.

However you like. You can "Reply With Quote", remove the quote wraps, edit as you like and post. It will appear as a new post. Alternately you can leave the quote wraps, edit, and add something outside of the quotes such as "bump", "updated", etc..

You can also just highlight your post, copy, paste, and edit as a new reply.

If you have any questions pleas PM me and if you would like to see pictures of anything I will be happy to email photos. Paypal gift is the preferred method of payment.

Priority insured shipping included.

PM any interest, questions, etc. Will be glad to supply additional photos upon request.

To prevent any misunderstandings, any PM merely asking for photos or posing questions will not be considered a "pending sale" or "commitment to purchase."

I just want to advocate for divemaster. He is awesome to deal with - and we had no issues during our deal.

Also, his prices are spot on...

UPDATE: Dark Tower II S/L is SOLD. Gunslinger S/L had a nibble but no sale as of yet. Still available.

DT I (#196)

I have a copy of Grant's S/L The Talisman for grabs. This is number 4 of the Artist Presentation Edition limited to only 70 copies. The books have been bagged and un-opened for many years.
However, there are some minor faults with the book and the slipcase. There is a little rubbing on the picture of the front cover of book 2 otherwise the books are in fine condition. The picture on the front of the slipcase has 2 bumps to the edges and two light scratches. Also, this picture is not as bright as my other copy suggesting some sun fading. There is some sticker residue on the back of the slipcase. Overall the slipcase is very good condition. All these faults i've tried to show in the photographs. I will send more if requested.
It is being offered at $850 with free UK shipping or 50% split costs of international shipping ($50 to US). Payment by Gift Paypal. PM me if interested. PLEASE NOTE I AM BASED IN THE UK.

Yes, Brian is spot on point. The DMG "Books" are amazing, but the case? Maybe they were trying someone new, but it seems like my copy (GE) and just about every other edition/copy I have seen pics here regarding, has that slight "Bow" in the middle, which for some reason drives me crazy. Overall, it is a great production, except for that apparent flaw.

Perhaps, I chose the word "terrible" badly in my initial post. It's just the case I have an issue with, to a degree.

Sky, yours is in pretty good shape so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if the "bowing" showed later. You can see the early stages on the left side of your picture. Very slight so far. I wonder if previous owners inadvertently stored in an inappropriate manner, not knowing, of course. Tell me I am confused and I will go away, but it seems to me that I have seen a large amount of these books with the same characteristics as I have described. Just maybe not yours, Sky (yet).

I guess I never noticed anything particularly wrong with my copy:
http://i508.photobucket.com/albums/s323/skyofcrack/sk_limiteds/100_0734.jpg

Your copy is much tighter than my ex-copy on the previous page. Yours has much less of a bow. The slipcase card is quite flimsy and susceptible to bowing. I used to store it vertically which may have caused the problem?

Sky, yours is in pretty good shape so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if the "bowing" showed later. You can see the early stages on the left side of your picture. Very slight so far. I wonder if previous owners inadvertently stored in an inappropriate manner, not knowing, of course. Tell me I am confused and I will go away, but it seems to me that I have seen a large amount of these books with the same characteristics as I have described. Just maybe not yours, Sky (yet).

The cases are very thin so I can see why, say, if you have books stacked on top for long periods of time or if, when you remove the books you stick your fingers in between the case and the books instead of letting them fall out. That might lead to the excessive bowing you're talking about. I've had this since I bought it from Grant in 1984 and it's one of my favorite S/L's.

Maybe what you suggest is the issue. They are a little more "flimsy" than is usual and I am not the original owner. I bought my copy sometime after the initial release. Still, my original suggestion stands, if you have one of these "bowed" cases, "Dolso" may be a viable solution. I for one am considering it.

I love the Dolso cases and I hope to own some in the future but I don't think books that already have slipcases/traycases should also have a Dolso case. Just an opinion.

The one thing that has always bothered me about my Talisman Limited is that the two books are not exactly the same size so they are not flush when all the way into the case (see pic at the top where the two books meet the case).

I have a really nice first edition of the original edition of The Stand. Both book and dustjacket are in near fine condition. Really tight binding and I believe it has never been read. Only flaw i can find at all is some fading to King's name on the spine of dustjacket. Reason for selling - is a duplicate copy. Am seeking $325 plus shipping. I will email photos to anyone interested. Thanks, Paul

If it is a non-King book, consideration should be given to posting in the respective author dedicated thread in:

How does one decide if an auction is intriguing or not? I've often hesitated to post auction listings here for fear that they will be deemed non-intriguing. I'd hate to be known as that guy who posts non-intriguing auctions. It's a real problem for me.

Anyone interested in a matched set of Grant Talisman and Black House S/Ls (#1051) for $750 plus shipping? The Talisman has some minor shelfwear on the slipcase, including some scratching on the picture. I could not get this to show up in any pictures, but I like to be as up-front as possible. The Black House also has minor traycase issues. However, I would be willing to swap the case with another (seemingly perfect) case I have (including swapping the 1051 sticker on the bottom of the case). It doesn't matter to me, but it might to some:

http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag74/Robert_Fulman/2E87705C-8AD0-4F8C-90C1-A3764FB10222_zpsechrmjwh.jpg

I plan to blow the proceeds on the Lettered Edition of Faithful. I don't know why that seems like a good idea to me, but it does.

If it helps to sweeten the deal, I'll throw in a Gunslinger Audio S/L for another $50; note that this bonus deal is only available to the buyer of the above books.

I've had a great transaction with JonP, but don't know how to leave him positive feedback. I'm sure this isn't the place to ask, but how do I go about that Jerome?

Randall passed on the Gunslinger, so it is available again.

What i have to mention is that i send from Austria - so shipping is 27$ a book,
but i am willing to split 50/50 and to offer free shipping on two or more books.

For my EU fellows, that might be a chance, as shipping here is quite cheaper of curse ;D
I added a bunch of new photos to show the quality of the book!
Check out the links.

Selling My S/L Gunslinger #196. Fine book in NF+ jacket.

A prospective buyer decided not to pull the trigger, so still available. I plan on consigning with Heritage the first week of August, so if you are on the fence now is the time.

I think the cheapest DT I on ABE is $7,500 which is ridiculous. The Collector estimates "$6,000 - $7,500" and documents one sold last November for $4,900.

I'm asking $4,600.

Priority insured shipping included for U.S. 50/50 otherwise.

PM any interest, questions, etc. Will be glad to supply additional photos upon request.

Public mea culpa.

I saw the ad Priest posted for the Gunslinger. I quickly posted "dibs", and then PM'd him asking for a two hour hold. I vacillated over price and pictures for over 2 hours and ended up cancelling. The next morning I changed my mind again, and sent the funds. I realized that if I cancelled, other members would wonder why, and that would (wrongly) negatively affect the sale.
Lesson learned is that "dibs" in a post is a pretty solid commitment.
I believe I should have sent a PM and counted on the seller to negotiate with buyers in order of message sent.
That and post "PM sent", not "dibs".

Hmmm... first game, 1967, double-header against the White Sox. Mantle hit a home run to win the first game. Dad took me home before the end of the second game (I was just a little guy). Since moving down South about 10 years ago, I don't get to the Stadium anymore, but still follow every game.

The following are some of my non-English SK books: because of lack-of-space, they simply have to go.
I'm not posting the country of origin here, nor the asking price (give me a fair offer, and I'm sure we can make a deal).
These are all HC editions, many unread, and some are limited editions, like the two Dutch titles (first photo) and the Japanese Riding the Bullet.
I will pay half of shipping outside of Europe.

1. I have one of the rare A Feast for Crows original dust jackets. These dust jackets were never actually used and only a limited number were ever produced.

2. I have on order one of the lettered editions of Carrie by Cemetery Dance. I do not know what letter it will be at this point. It will however have one of the limited remarque's in it. Owning this copy gives you first rights to the future volumes in the set as well as future remarques.

If you are interested in either please email me with your offers. Thanks.

Not to be snarky, but when people say "I'm not selling my copy of XYZ, but I'm asking for a friend.." why isn't the 'friend' just signing on to the forum and asking themselves?

I don't personally know any other SK collector/fan, but if I did, I'd probably say, "hey, you should sign on to this forum and ask questions..." I understand that everyone's not on the internet - but how did they buy the item in the first place?

Anyway, I guess that was totally snarky....my bad...haha.

I have a copy of "Knowing Darkness" that I bought for like $150 and also got the plastic case as well. I really have no room to display it and well, I would give it up in a trade for another book that can fit on my shelves. The HF might also be a consideration for a part of it. Any thoughts, proposals? I'm open to suggestions. PM me. We pay our respective s/h.

Alright ... I'm moving houses and I'd prefer not to box up and bring anything I don't have to, so ... please please please buy off the remainder of my collection. There's still some good items here, and even the ones that are common and/or dinged, just make me an offer. Seriously, some of these items I'll send to you if you take care of packaging and shipping.

It's been a while since I posted anything, so I'm not sure of the pricing. Just let me know what you're even remotely interested in and we'll take it from there. PayPal Gift/Family option of course. Here we go ...
