I am in a dire situation and need to sell whatever I can to keep power, water, etc. I have a signed first edition of Joe Hill's Heart Shaped Box for sale. I'm not sure how to go about selling it or where to find the value. I saw one online that sold for $99, so I want to get at least that much.

I will also be looking to sell other books, comics, etc. Could anyone recommend a site where I can find out values of those?

Thanks very much.

In sorrow,
-Woofer

Thanks John! I appreciate that. And likewise for John. He is a great seller and buyer and trustworthy. Never hurts to shout that out for people's rep with some people trying to scam and so on on the boards, FB, etc.

I've got some foreign King editions, promotional displays, prints, etc. up for sale if anybody is interested. This is part of Jonathan Reitan's collection that I've been helping him sell off and he's happy to have it go to a good King fan/collector's home. I am glad you are happy with the packaging!

I spend a minimum of 15 minutes packing up each book I sell.....because an extra few minutes makes all of the difference.

Each book is first slipped into a clean, new, plastic bag (with a minimal amount of tape so it is easy to open), and then packed in an appropriate sized box that allows for padding on ALL sides of the book....and enough padding to keep the book centered....so it cannot move at all while in transit.

And don't forget I went to TWO post offices on Saturday to get your book shipped because the first one was closed because of the earthquake! How is that for service?

OK...enough shameless self promotion...but seriously, thanks for the kind words, and the purchase.

My 1st rule of packing, before you tape the box, move the box in every direction, if something slides or moves, you don't have it packed correctly. Start all over.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I cringe when a package arrives and I can feel it moving inside.

Not to get too far off-topic, but I have to share the worst-packed book I ever received. I've had some eBay sellers ship books in unpadded manila envelopes, and I've received Priority Mail envelopes with no padding and the end has split open---in one case, it's a wonder the book was in the envelope, because the entire end had split open. All I did was tilt the envelope, and the book slid out.

But the worst was a large trade paperback of the Dutch edition of Robert McCammon's Boy's Life. When it finally arrived, it was in an 11" x 17" envelope, and it flexed in the middle. Well, that was the completely wrong size of the book, and why was it flexing? I opened it to find that the seller had opened the book in the middle, and then put it in the envelope like that---spread wide open in the middle. And no bubble-wrap, just an envelope. The book was used, and the spine had already been broken, but I still couldn't believe somebody selling books would actually pack it that way! I wish I'd taken a photo of it, because it's the kind of thing I fully expect you all to read and say, "No way!" ;)

Just curious but did you get it from a Dutch seller? It's not unheard of over here for booksellers to put second-hand books in an envelope like that, simply so it will fit through the opening of a regular mailbox. I'm sure this person thought you were buying it as a discardable reading copy but still... Incredibly stupid!

Yes, it was a Dutch seller. One of the few copies I found online that I could figure out how to purchase (I.e, the site was in English and the seller took Paypal). That makes some sense, but it still blew my mind. Thanks.

So funny story: I purchased a Gift edition Buick 8 off eBay that didn't have the slipcase, and purchased a tray case for it instead from CD (the signed limited edition tray case). The book got lost during delivery however, so now I have a tray case with no book.

Any chance anyone wants/needs a Buick 8 tray case???

Let me know if so, I might be able to hook you up.

Cheers

PS I still have a Hardback of the Stephen King Trivia Book, as well as an ARC for it available. Full purchase price will be donated to the haven fundraiser so make me an offer.

Both items are in the US, so shipping won't be from NZ.

Its your "user rating" based on the number of posts you have. As you post more it'll change to other titles.

I'm ever the optimist, but why does it say John F. Kennedy when I post stuff?
When the board was originally set up, Matt, Hannah, et al decided it would be cool (and I think it's wonderful) that as a user posted, the "user title" would change when a certain number of posts occured.
John F. Kennedy shows up when you have 19 posts. Once you have 29 posts, it will change to something else (are you excited yet?).
There are different user groups that allow a member to personally set their user name.

Is there a list anywhere of what it changes to? Like a breakdown of how many posts are needed and what the title is? Ive seen that before on other boards and am wondering if we have it here.

The list is more secret than the recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken, or Coca Cola. The list is divided and only 4 people know. Merlin1958 knows a portion (which means he will blab it any minute...:orely:)

Thanks for the notes, but but but ...
- Prices aren't needed. Seriously, I'm tired of looking at the stuff. Anyone interested in anything should message me with their best offer, and we can go from there.
- People who ignore 2+ pages of items aren't true collectors. True collectors are the ones who click on Craigslist ads listed as "Lot of Adult Magazines" because there just might be some old Cavalier issues with King stories in them.

True collectors are the ones who click on Craigslist ads listed as "Lot of Adult Magazines" because there just might be some old Cavalier issues with King stories in them.

Yes. You have no idea how far and wide I've searched for (what probably doesn't exist) the 'issue' of Adam or Adam Bedside Reader or Adam Quarterly for The Float, the original version of The Raft since King said he was paid for it and it was supposedly published.

Cue someone here pulling out the only known copy and showing it to all of us, while we stand gawking in amazement...

I don't think The Float was ever published. I've been paid for things that never made it into print, too.

This isn't SK-related but I know there are people who collect GRRM here as well so I thought I'd post it here. If it doesn't fit please feel free to delete.

I've got Clash of Kings #191 for sale with rights to Game of Thrones. I'm looking for an IT S/L and would be interested in a trade.

Yep. Amber's going crazy with wedding plans and she seems to think that every penny we have in our bank account should be spent immediately on the wedding, when the wedding is about a month and a half away. So ... seeing as how I'm not a Ramen guy, lol, I have to make and hide some money from her. Hence, my book selling and graphic novel selling. Link coming soon for those.

For anyone that collects graphic novels, here is the link to the ones I am selling:

That sounds like an amazing honeymoon :). I couldn't imagine spending $20k on one day although I'm sure you had a great day. We've just booked our wedding for Feb - total budget $3k!! I wonder if that means Paul would be agreeable to a $17k book spending spree as a present? :orely:

I think we spent a little over €12,000 on our wedding but IMO it was money well spent. Renting the venues, getting nice wedding rings and providing food/drinks for >100 people is bound to cost a lot. But we couldn't have wished for a better day and that's what it should be about, ultimately.

I am from Canada and weddings are so expensive! got married down south in Mexico... 50 people bought a vacation (every 12 gave us a $1000 credit too) and came with us to the Grand Palladium for a week (amazing place) in the Mayan Rivera. We ended up with the credits, getting an extra week free and we had the best suite on the resort. Our wedding was only $2500 and it included a wonderful meal/all the drinks and a private beach reception with the most amazing decorations. You can actually go to me Page and when you clic a photo of my collection you can cruise through my photos on Photobucket. The total we paid for the whole trip with spending money and the most amazing beach wedding I have ever been to was $2900CAD! About $2500 US.... anyone out here considering getting married... this is the way to go.

When I was young and before my 16th birthday, I always told everyone I was going to get married after my 23th birthday. When I turned 16 I changed the date to 28. When I turned 20 the new date was after my 30s. After my 21st birthday I decided I wasn't going to get married, at least for the time being. My girlfriend feels the same way (we've been together since 2003), so here I am, 34 years old, and I doubt marriage will ever be part of our life.

As a matter of fact, now I remember that two ex girlfriends asked me about when we were going to get married (I was 20 and 22) and both times the relationship didn't last more than a month after that question...

Congratulations for those who take the step!

Hey Guys,
i need some space in the shelve and a releasing two S/L today.

1) Dark Tower VII S/L - tray case has a some small corner bump but Book & Dustcover are absolute fine.
Was my very first DT S/L - i never mind the bump, but have a new number now. Maybe a good starter for DT SLs
Ill make pics if needed.

Will sell for 300$ shipped to Europe or lower 48 states, what is a nice price for a DT i guess.

2) Joyland S/L #637 Fine/Fine no mark at all. $350

Also shipping to Europe or lower 48 states is free.

I have been debating doing this for a while now... but I have finally made a decision...

I own the 25th Anniversary Lettered "GG" edition of IT and I would rather have a pristine 25th Anniversary S/L edition of IT. If you are interested, I would like the S/L IT plus $1300 USD (PayPal gift) for my lettered edition. I have the original inner box that it shipped in and I will cover the cost of shipping to anywhere in the continental U.S. and will split shipping costs to all other locations. If you are interested please PM me.

So, it appears that I'm not meant to be a collector. Some pretty strong storms came through and roughed up the place, so I need to scratch up whatever I can. Easiest way to do that is to sell off the start of my book collection. If interested please send a PM. All prices include shipping in the US. Paypal gift preferred.

Is anyone interested in a bunch of old Star Trek paperbacks by Alan Dean Foster from the 1970s? I found them at a Habitat Restore and had to save them. I don't know that they are worth much, but probably not the $45 listed on eBay. If there is interest, I'll post pics. Otherwise, to eBay they go.

I have Logs 1-8. Logs 1-4 have their own little slipcase, which is fairly beat-up. There is also a Star Trek Puzzle Manual from 1978 that doesn't appear to be written in at all.

PM w/ interest! Thanks!

(I'm not expecting much from them, so don't be afraid to ask!)

Good luck, but there seems to little or no interest in the stamps (certainly at $250+). If it was the stamp for the S/L "The Stand" it might fetch a pretty penny.

Yeah, I mentioned this on the CD forums as well, but he loved the book and jumped in a little to fast into the collecting game. He's since sold his collection to me because he lost interest, or his wife forced him to lose interest, but this was the one thing I wasn't interested in, and now just wants to get out from under it. I noticed on Ebay there's been a Dark Forces 25th die up for a long time. I think the BB one came from the same seller and at one point late last year it was up around (I think) $400, and now it's down to $129.

In medicine, a coma (from the Greek κῶμα koma, meaning "deep sleep") is a state of unconsciousness lasting more than six hours, in which a person: cannot be awakened; fails to respond normally to painful stimuli, light, or sound; lacks a normal sleep-wake cycle; and, does not initiate voluntary actions.[1] A person in a state of coma is described as being comatose.

What was the initial purchase price for those statues?
No much more than that!
Not much more than what? $75?
I believe the painted ones were much more than $75.

I said "No... much more than that" Not "Not much more than that"... they were hundreds each if I remember... (and I paid more for the extra custom work).
That will teach me to read more carefully. Sorry about that.

Serves me right for wanting to know what the issue price was before sending a PM. Should have realised $75 was a good deal and emailed straight away.

I already own a painted CR sculpture, but I would buy another for such a low asking price. Sorry you had to sell it, Karen, but also sorry to see you leave money on the table when you did.
