Not much left at this point though. First time I looked they had a Lock & Key but now it's gone. A buddy of mine also grabbed an extra PC copy of George R.R. Martin's the Dying of the Light but he wouldn't tell me what he paid for it of course LOL!

wow - i happened to be online and see the email minutes after it was sent - checked it out and never saw the locke and key or GRRM book

I had the Locke & Key in my cart. By the time I logged in to pay, it was sold out. Damn.

Supposedly (we'll see) I got the PC Locke & Key 2 (sorry everybody); never saw a Locke & Key; the GRR Martin was still there at that time, just not one of my interests so I didn't grab it. There were 10-12 titles I believe ... some Dan Simmons, I think maybe a Robert McCammon, some other names I didn't recognize. I almost didn't grab the Joe Hill, but figured what the hell, it was a good price.

This came in this afternoon; damn nice book, can't beat it for $125!

Anyone interested in a review copy of the Joyland paperback? I just won a rather expensive book that I had to have (it hardly ever shows up for less than $1,000 and I got a pretty good deal IMO) so in order to alleviate the 'pain' a little I'm going to be selling a few books.

The Joyland review copy is the regular paperback edition (in great condition) including a letter from the publisher. It was sent out to reviewers after the first, small wave of ARCs went out. I got it off ABE two weeks before publication. Please PM me if you're interested!

I will also be listing a rather scarce UK proof for sale after I return from my honeymoon in a couple of weeks (hint: it's a light blue proof).

I received several inquiries about the Joyland review copy. As stated above (but perhaps a little more ambiguously than I intended): this is the REGULAR trade PB (with publisher's letter laid in), NOT the ARC. So it's not a major collectible but rather just a cool/quirky thing to add to your collection if you're so inclined.

I certainly don't expect to be able to pay my other purchase with the small profit I can make on this copy of Joyland :) but a few small sales and hopefully a larger one will go a long way!

PS The UK proof I will be putting up for sale in a couple of weeks is the light blue Hearts in Atlantis one (not the larger, dark blue state).

I'll make a similar offer.

I have received four copies of the JOYLAND signed numbered limited edition. I am keeping one and plan to sell the three others.

All three are in my possession and are still unopened in their original shrinkwrap.

$325 shipped to U.S. via USPS Priority Mail (box) w/ Delivery Confirmation and Insurance.

$350 shipped to UK and Europe via Priority Mail International (box) w/ Delivery Confirmation and Insurance.

Payment via Paypal Gift.

I believe this is below the going rate on eBay, especially when you factor in the cost of the shipping. Please PM me if interested. I can mail these out as early as tomorrow if I hear anything by tonight.

Thanks.

I have two Signed/Limited UK "Under the Dome" editions that I will sell if anyone is interested. I believe #'s 339 and 456 (I'm at work so cannot check right now) are extras. Turns out I had a few too many copies! I might also have a US signed/limited or two as well, but I will have to check on that one when I get home.

I don't think either of my UK s/l's have the dented slipcase, but if you are interested and it is predicated on the a pristine slipcase then let me know. I think there aren't too many of the perfect slipcases at there based on the griping after the initial delivery by Waterstone. Definitely much more rare than the US version at any rate even without the slipcase issues. :)

I'm cool with whatever the going rate is for them on Ebay (I realize ABE is always the high end price).

I also have an extra Gunslinger or two and I'd say probably VG condition or better on the books and about the same on the DJ (I think there are minor rips on the DJ's so if that mean only Good then so be it...shrug). If interested, let me know and I can take pics and post them. Happy to sit on them forever, but just trying to clear some space on the shelves and not bump other authors if I don't have to. :)

Also have a lettered Great Ghost Stories I think I don't need. Might be a PC version though. Hmmmm...what else...

Curt

Not to be snotty, but it's $20 cheaper to buy separate.

After looking at the book values I realized I may have overpriced the set together - thats how I evaluated the books on an individual basis. I didn't have time to edit my post earlier.

Yes, I recommend you do it every time. You have nothing to lose. The only time I don't is if it a hot item priced right and I'm worried someone will grab it.

I think I barter almost every time when I buy something off ABE or Biblio. It almost always results in a discounted price. (Sometimes not much, but sometimes fairly substantial.)

Curt

I may be interested in the Gunslinger...can we see pics? Thanks.

I used to always be on here, but my life has taken many turns.

I am going to be selling some dark tower and Stand comic books to try and raise money for future surgeries for my cat Majel. She has a disease called feline tooth resorption, which is an immune disorder where the body rejects her teeth. They have only been read once, and have been sealed and in a box since I have read them.

If anyone is interested, in buying or tips on how to go about selling them, I am never on here, because I am so fully into my job and running my page, but please please please, contact me at

This is why I don't send payments via Gift. Instead, send as a normal purchase, but add 3% for fees to the amount you're sending to the seller who requested Gift and they'll end up with the same amount of money they would have via Gift -- but you're protected in instances like this. Sending payment via Gift -- though I know it's a popular request in this forum -- is a gamble, and an unwise one. Sellers just don't want fees subtracted...so add 3% for the fees, send it as a normal transaction, and both parties are good to go.

I agree. Paypal fees should be absorbed by the seller as a cost of doing business anyways. I mean how hard is it to price your item with the 3% already included? It turns me off to see so many folks asking for paypal gift. I am not a man with very deep pockets. I probably shouldn't be spending north of $300 on a collectible anyways and it would be catastrophic if I put out that much money and an expensive item got lost in the mail or damaged. With paypal gift you have no recourse whatsoever. If I'm paying for an expensive item give me paypal with a credit card from a responsible seller who has incorporated his cost of business into his asking price everytime. That way you have two ways of insurance. Paypal and credit card company protection

An unwise one only if you don't know who you are dealing with.

I disagree with this. The seller being honest, trustworthy, or a good packer of items so they wouldnt get damaged is only part of the equation.

The seller can be A+ or your best friend and the package could still go awry. What if gets blown up in a giant fireball in a postal truck crash like happened in texas a few years ago or the parcel is misappropriated by the Underwear Gnomes (or worse yet another country's Customs dept)? You do not know what is going to happen when shipping a package. sure MOST of the time everything works out ok, but what happens when the low percentage time that something goes wrong it is the S/N LE of the Stand that you just bought? You will be playing your violin on the boards in a post and if you lost the money by sending it paypal gift it will be your own fault.

I love the fact that these boards are a tight knight community and there is a lot of trust among the members. That is a beautiful thing. But whether or not the seller is going to honor his sale and actually ship you the package is only one variable in the equation. If you use paypal gift to send $ and are not prepared to just kiss that money goodbye with no recourse (albeit at the small percentage chance that something goes wrong). Then you are fooling yourself.

Man, I hope I am not blacklisting myself with sellers (as I think a majority of sellers on this site ask for paypal gift), lol Im rather new here and having a lot of fun playing in the sandbox.

I have used paypal gift with a seller and boardsmember that I have already completed a number of successful transactions with. I take the risk on possibly losing out on $30 to SAVE him some money. But I could never afford the risk of losing the funds or not being able to have my credit card company cover it with their insurance of a high dollar buy.

I think this turns some buyers off. It definitely is the case with me. Of course selling highly desirable and rare stephen king collectibles that are in high demand and are luxury items gives the seller a little more power in the transaction, but I still think it is a mite bit insulting to the buyer to try and stick them with the fee. I mean it is done in business all the time, but the smart businessman does not flaunt it in the face of the buyer. He just adjusts the price to include the fee and the buyer is unaware of it.

In any case. I AM on the buyer and sellers side and love sticking it to the corporate entity that is trying to gouge us, but the 3% is a small cost for the protection you receive (anything can happen) even if you have to eat it yourself as the buyer.

I certainly am a lot more apt to buy from a seller who knows how to set his price point and include his cost of business into the transaction than one who tries to affix on me his fee (especially if it comes at the price of zero protection for acts of god, lost mail, ect) The paypal system is pretty crazy. Id rather just send a check, lol. but you would have no protection other than the sellers credibility for that too.

You guys are not entirely correct.

If the seller pays a buyer with a Paypal Gift...and the funds come out of the buyer's Paypal balance or their bank account...there are ZERO fees for the buyer and seller.

If the seller pays a Paypal Gift using their credit card, Paypal does charge the fees to the sender.

I have paid dozens of sellers here via Paypal Gift and have never "eaten" or had a seller "stick" me with a fee for doing so.

Sure but is that ethical (in a business sense)? When you go buy a slurpee from a 7-11 do they charge you a surcharge for how much the electricity cost to freeze it? No they handle that cost themselves and then sell you the slurpee at an outrageously adjusted (for cost of doing business) price. It is a murky issue. Most seller want to receive as much money as possible for their item. Although many King collectible have a researchable mean price for how much they trade at, you never know how bad somebody wants something or the price they will pay for it.

The trick as a seller is to set the correct price point. The highest the customer will pay and think it is a good deal (which they verify by purchasing it) To then ask the buyer to pay a little bit more (3%) so that the seller can save on that little bit is not good business. Of course some folks may not care, but I as a businessman would not take the risk of potentially losing another sale by adding a surcharge onto a customer by blatantly flashing it in his face because the seller is unwilling to incorporate said amount into his asking price.

The seller can be the best guy in the world, but does his responsibility end when he packages it carefully, buys the postage and drops it in the mail? In my mind it doesn't. The deal is completed when the buyer receives the item and is satisfied with what he has purchased (meaning it is not damaged, misrepresented, not a correct printing, ect)

As I said above...damage that occurs in transit is addressed by shipping insurance.

And if you know the seller....any disputes in regard to printing/edition should not be an issue.

Ask the seller beforehand if you have the right to return an item if not fully satisfied to cover your bases.

Just because you use a CC does not mean you are 100% protected in the event of a less than favorable transaction.

I agree with everything tippy4 has said on this subject.

If either party is concerned about shipping damage, then the two parties should pre-negotiate the inclusion of insurance and how the cost will be borne.

In regards to the primary topic: Only use Paypal Gift with people you trust. Otherwise use the Goods option and pre-negotiate how the cost will be borne.

For the most formal protection when you trust no one, perhaps eBay is a better option. They have all kinds of policies and procedures and contracts in place all reviewed and written up by legal teams.

I do not really understand those offended by offers in this thread of reasonable prices in which the price offering includes the caveat of payment via PayPal Gift. The point of this thread is to facilitate deals between friends, not to supplant eBay as the iron-clad conduit for deals between strangers.

TwistedNadine

Perhaps naive on my part but I did assume a member here who has been a member for some time, contributed, etc, would be trustworthy. When dealing with strangers, ebay etc I not only use paypal but also use my AMEX (via paypal) which has a fantastic dispute policy. They will pretty much reverse any charge without question. I think it really sucks that Stevohump took advantage of the members here but at the same time he is probably fully aware of the paypal dispute policies and knew gifted funds could not be disputed.

I also thought he would be trustworthy as a member since 2010. My own fault sure, but I am still out $314 Canadian and am pissed off. I know that I will be wary of doing business this way in the future as much as I would like to think otherwise. It would appear that I was the biggest loser in this whole mess but would still be pissed if my loss was $10. The way I look at it is I am going to have to get great deals on the next several items I buy just to "break even". I will probably take a break from purchasing anything for the foreseeable future to lick my wounds and maybe the break will end with me going The Shannon route and quitting altogether. This whole experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth about collecting and I am really not sure when it will return to being the "sweet" taste that kept me seeking out the pieces to fill the holes. If this happened on eBay I really don't think I would be having such a severe reaction but it happening here really has a feeling of violation attached to it. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.

I know how much this sucks and it's probably of little consolation right now, but I'd say overall we have a tremendous record of people not getting screwed over. There's always gonna' be someone who comes along and fucks shit up, but those have been rare here. Still I'd advise sticking to people you at least know enough to feel comfortable with taking a chance on and that just because someone is here unfortunately doesn't mean they're trustworthy.

Rick - Short answer... Yes. I'm not an active seller, so I said I'd incur the PayPal fees as a good faith gesture. I also recently got burned by an eBay seller, but since I paid via Goods & Services, I had no problem filing a claim and getting my money back.

I always request that buyers use PayPal's gift option. With the exception of Sharon Milligan's "Unveiling" (still feel bad about that), I always mention the gift/family option in my selling posts. That way, there's no argument. You want my stuff, you play by my rules or the transaction doesn't happen.

If anybody has any interest in one or some of the books shown, please let me know.

For anyone that has never held this wonderful item in their hands, you're missing out. It was the centerpiece of my collection. And at $400 (and around $75-100 for US shipping), you're getting it for half off the original issue price.

If we are talking about THIS (http://www.ebay.com/itm/141014508308?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649) one, well...I tried making it mine.

I made an offer of $255, but he declined.

Yep, stumbled into it last night and made an offer.

I tried to get that also, offered up to $250 and th lowest he would go for me was $300, i may have paid $275, i have a couple decent jackets, none are perfect or new but i have a vg one that would have done that book well.
Oh well, congrats on snagging it !

As soon as I get my grab bag from Cemetery Dance, I will have a copy of Tin House that has the story Afterlife by Stephen King for sale. I purchased a copy at a local store the day of release, so I don't need the second copy. I don't know what the going rate is, but probably cover price (to recover what I paid for mine).

The Stephen King grab bags are shipping soon. I asked Brian that the other day on the Cemetery Dance thread. His answer:

"The first batch of orders will be shipping after the warehouse finishes The Dark Man trade hardcover shipping. Some of the items for the Grab Bag are still trickling in, but we'll have enough sets to fill half of them.

I'll have to show you guys the photos of how they shipped the original shipment of TIN HOUSE to us. You'll love it.

Brian "

I don't know about the other grab bag they offered recently.

I was able to get a few tickets to the NYC King event in September today.

These are good tickets, and are in the first six rows, Orchestra left.

I am selling them for $150 each (Paypal Gift) here, with the stipulation that I will refund your $150 in exchange for a signed copy of Doctor Sleep.

So in other words, you could go to the event, and your only cost to do so would be what it costs to ship the book to me if you get a signed copy, and if you are willing to part with it.

PM me if you are interested.

I'm a big SK fan, a mod over on Reddit.com/r/StephenKing, the OP mod of r/joehill and a member over at Stephenkingcollector.com So I have my hands in the community so to speak. I've even had back and forth with Owen via twitter about getting tickets and have still come up empty.

Only stumbled across TDT.org today through a post on skcollector and like the feel of the site, but the forum directory takes some serious getting used to. Not quite as straight forward as I would like, but certainly eclectic.

Welcome to the site!

I thought the same thing when I first joined. I found that it was much easier to use the "You have: __ Unread Posts" button at the top of the screen rather than sifting through each forum and sub-forum.
