I was lucky enough to be at the talk JK Rowling gave at the Southbank, London, Last night, It was a very good evening and was also lucky to get the new book (The Casual Vacancy) signed and hologrammed. I might need to raise some funds soon for a move so may consider selling this if anyone is interested.

JK also spoke about a chat she had with Stephen King a short while ago when she was in the US, about how much it has changed when it comes to pre publication and giving out advanced copies for press, reviews, proofs etc. Her publishers dont allow her to do it, and she said the Stephen King was the only other author she had spoken to who is in the same position where he feels that he cant really let advance copies go out for fear of the book appearing on the net in full or being sold on ebay etc.

interesting, since dave has one up for sale now... with a couple of slight defects, for 3500.00
(Skeleton Crew Lettered "I" in zippered case; two barely seen scuffs to bottom gilt edge of book; zippered case leather slightly bunched on one end of spine)

the only other one I found in "as new" shape listed on ABE is listed at 4500.00

that said... I believe my pricing for my perfect copy at THIS time is about right at 3850.00.... but then, I'm not desperate to sale it.

The Lettered one on Betts for $3,500 has been there for a very long time. Was off and on eBay at $2,900 for awhile as well but didn't sell.....

This would indicate that the price is too high.

After a Very long and hard thought process I've decided that I am going to sell all of my collection.

There are some priorities that have taken precedent over book collecting and hopefully someday soon I can get back into it. For now however I have to make the hardest choice I've had to make in a really lomg time. I will be posting some great books over the next few days and hopefully you guys will be able to take advantage of them. If you would like a list tonight feel free to pm me.

Guess it's just me then. It's not his best story, but the editions were done very nicely. Somehow, even though I really like it I can't bring myself to pay too much for it.

Sorry for the long post! I knew there was a lot of shirts in the lot, but didn't realize the list would be that long. I've never seen a lot of these shirts before myself. It really is a pretty impressive collection of King shirts and jackets. It's been fun to look through all of them and see what's in there.

Nice get! But at that price (or really, at any price), no. That'a a cool item and will be very scarce. The price does not seem unreasonable given how rare her signings are (though it's hard to say how much her fan base will care about this book, signed or not.

The slipcase got all chipped up so its pretty trashed but the book is a nice signed copy with original letter that came with. I can send pictures to whoever is interested.

In June '11 after filling up my car at a petrol station and while walking over to the kiosk to pay i was hit by a car and almost killed (happened to a famous writer before i think!) The elderly gent was scooting thru the station to dodge traffic lights when he hit me doing about 25mph. He says he never saw me! Petrol station speed limit is 5mph! I suffered injuries to both legs (torn,tendons,ligament,cartilage), buckled hips,rips,arms etc. All in all he fucked me over pretty good. Doctors said the fact that im a gym rat and weigh a solid 220lbs saved my life. So...14 months later and still recovering but unable to work the money squeeze is on. And therefore my King collection has to go.
I have about 50 signed books,many of those S/L's, IT,Salems Lot, FDNS, etc. plus many trades all 1st's.
I have almost all Gift Editions and almost all UK & US 1st editions.
Most magazine 1st appearances including all the Cavaliers and a few pre Carrie like Moth,Contraband 2 ,Startling Mysteries etc.
Most anthologies US & UK and a lot of Proofs.ARC's some of which are signed.
An awful lot of promo items,promo booklets etc.
You can see most of these in the Collection Thread. All are pretty much in fine condition. Ive been out of the loop for awhile so im not sure the exact market value but if you see something you like let me know thru PM and we can try and sort a price. I'm so sorry to hear that. I know each of us dreads that moment where we would consider selling our collection. It sounds like you have quite a special one too. I'm still pretty much paycheck to paycheck myself so the only books I get tend to be the ones I luck into at the publishers rate, although even they seem to be setting much higher initial prices these days. With a large collection, involving a tedious shipping, wouldn't you do better through a full collection consignment through Betts? Not quite sure how that all works, but you just have 1 shipment to get together, plus the books are priced and sold at the right market price.

Certainly hope you get better, and find a steady cash flow before all that happens though so you can keep your collection.

Barry - Hate hearing when stuff like this happens; you're out thinking it's going to be a normal day and then some jackass screws up your entire life in an instant. Regardless of his age I do hope you're going after him, especially since he was intentionally breaking the law and not paying any attention whatsoever. Jerk.

If I might be so bold, can I suggest that, if you've got it, posting a written list of what you've got, with the S/L numbers and such? I was going through your collection and honestly it's all pretty overwhelming ... so many things interesting that you don't know where to start and I'm sure I'm missing stuff. Also, since it's such a good sized collection you might even think about doing like Shannon did for the 3rd party last year, maybe putting together a mass sale here (with permission, of course). That way you could try and get the funds that you'd like for each of them without having to worry about eBay fees. Hell, you could even do a silent auction with minimum bids that way you're not having to negogiate on so many different items. And of course there's always Betts!

Just suggestions ... it sucks that need to sell, but I think if you're going to sell you should at least get the prices that you want/need (I never liked "make me an offer" because that's an open door for low-balls, but that's just my opinion).

I purchased that copy for €75 and I sold it to Roog for the same price. So I think you're right, Niels. Maybe €60 is a little low because you don't find it for sale very often, and it has the numbered card as well if I recall correctly. But €60-75 sounds right.

The shipping quote came out to £25, which seems outrageously high. However, I would have bought the book if it was £50 shipped, so it's not too bad. However, if the parcel isn't delivered fairly quickly and by the queen herself, I might leave a bit of neutral feedback. That last part was meant to be read in a cockney accent.

I'm not trying to be a prick or anything, but $275 for a price-clipped edition? I know you so I am sure its a fair price, but I paid $350 for my "Father Cody" 1/1 non-clipped. I found two remarqued, signed copies of Joe Hill's "Horns" overseas in a bargain bin on a military installation... offering them both for sale.

Both are remarqued on the title page with the "O" in "Horns" made to look like a devil complete with horns, a face, and a tail. One is signed "Damnably, Joe Hill" and the other is signed "Warmly, Joe Hill".

f/f condition=Cover has bends and creases, edgewear along top from front all the way around book. Cover has small hole near the center that transfers through to book. Book has indent from cover piercing, along with scuff marks, some severe enough to discolor the black boards.

Priority shipping= I will wrap a sheet of that thin fake bubblewrap around the book, then throw it in a box big enough for 5 more books with no additional protection. That way, any damage not disclosed earlier will be compounded by book bouncing around the box during a trip from Ohio to Florida.

I have sold plenty of books to members here and not one of them has ever had anything bad to say - I'm not going to take crap for one issue that a buyer had with me.
