I just gave this one an average. I didn't enjoy it as much when I reread it, as I did first time around.

Not actually one of my favorites, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it's a great novel, a classic, and scary as hell. Maybe I need to re-read it.

My favorite all-time. Have read it annually since 1976.

I loved it. The large "cast", all of whom seem like real people, the story itself, just one of the greats.

I gave it a 4. I thought it was pretty good overall, but not the top of my list.

This is definitely a 5 for me - best book in this section!

A "5" from me, too, it's a classic. Very well written, perfectly composed, genuinely scary, and with one of my favorite characters ever.

Not only the best King story I've read but the best vampire story I've read...period.

I gave it a four...it's a very enjoyable book, and I too think that it's one of the better vampire books written, but to me it's just not "astoundingly awesomely ridiculously cool."

I feel pretty much the same as Cozener about vampire stories. It may not be King's best to me but it was one of the first ones I read and I was totally hooked by it, from beginning to end, so definitely a 5 for me.

you should do it before anything else you're planning!

(while, unlike people who posted above, bears are normally bored by vampire stories!)

I gave this one a 4. I really enjoyed it, but there were quite a few others that I enjoyed more.

this is another one of my all time favorites. I couldn't put this book down. I read it for the first time when I was 15 or 16 but had a fresh new outlook when I read it after Wolves of the Calla. so good!

Oh, you won't have to do that. I am positive that we have at least four copies of this book in the house. I know that I've tried to get her to read it before and she pretty much just refuses. I think Wolves of the Calla left a bad taste in her mouth.

Hannah!! FOUR copies available and you haven't read it yet? Shame, shame, shame! This was the SK that got me hooked!

I finally read this one sometime in the past couple years, after finishing the DT series. I liked it, but I didn't absolutely love it.

This was the first King book I bought after reading DT (which was my first King ever).
I think it was a letdown for me because I was on such a high from finishing DTVII...
I did really enjoy putting this book and Wolves side-by-side at points to compare storylines, but because of when I read it, I only remember it being average - 3 from me.

With everyone's glowing reviews however, I would expect that might change on a re-read... :)
