Matt

Happy 4th of July!!

Anybody doing anything fun? Our little town decided it was more prudent to shoot fireworks in late October for October fest.

so we don't get a show until then.

There are others going on but I believe I am going to spend the day with my sweet Dora and put the finishing touches on the floor finally.

Intricate cutting. :pullhair:

We're more or less celebrating the diversity of the people who have travelled to this country to create a better life by attending a Matisyahu show. And nothing shouts diversity like a Hassidic Jew rapping some mad reggae. :D

Sweet!! That sounds fun

All the molding I bought is not right (I told her I shouldn't go alone for stuff like that ) so we get to make a trip over to Grand Junction.

Well, I had to drive the truck which was hauling a float for a parade, then I had to spend time with the family (sister was born July 4th,1969), then I just watched an unimpressive firework display...now I'm typing to you all!! :)

Tequila squeelers? What are they?

Matt

Its an ice cold shot of tequilla with a squeeze lime shot into it.

You gotta pour, squeeze and shoot very quick though.

I went to a bbq on the 4th. Apparently I didn't get the "bring you pet with you" memo. There were three cats and five dogs running around. I had cat hair in my potato salad. Yucky.

Well, they weren't squeelers but we were drinking tequila, vodka, and beer on the fourth. Zone is right; it is not a holiday without alcohol. :D

Can you relay a message to whoever thought up this stellar idea? "This guy Josh thinks your pet bbq sounds shit"

Weve got about 20 people coming over tonight for some birthday drinks for me and diem (mines on the 10th). I kinda like birthdays the more i get older as you tend to forget about presents and all that stuff until right beforehand - ive asked someone "whats this for?" when ive been given a birthday present before :P ergo, people with mild dementia are constantly happy.

I'm heading over to New Hope, Pennsylvania in a few minutes.

Update:

traveled down to New Hope, Pennsylvania-along with hundreds of other tourists who make the annual pilgrimage there-to celebrate our nation's independence.

I love Pennsylvania!

The entire state, save Philadelphia.

I should correct that.

I love Philadelphia too.

It would be perfect without the people.

But the rest of the Keystone state is all-around awesome.

In any case, I decided to have a meal at one of the local tourist trap-type restaurants, which-in retrospect-was probably a mistake on my part.

I should have gone to Starbucks, but if I had you wouldn't be able to enjoy this story.

So I chose a restaurant.

A place called "Villa Vito."

Lots of potted plants-overlooking waste baskets-a water fountain, which was covered up with a garbage bag, and a wait staff that seemed like it was imported from an episode of The Outer Limits.

I ordered some mozzarella sticks, a steak on a club sandwich-which they helpfully served to me on a hero-and some fries, which I didn't request.

They moved every new customer to a table seated directly across from the garbage bins and each customer immediately moved to another table, after which the process repeated ad infinitum.

The best part though was overhearing a conversation between the manager-a somewhat cellulite-ridden woman who was wearing bike shorts for some inexplicable reason-and two disgruntled customers.

Displeased Patron: That sauce was horrible!

Manager: C'mon, it wasn't that bad. (Parenthetical notation: Really? Was she eating it?)

Patron: IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!

Manager: We've been making that sauce for years.

Patron: I don't care how long you've made it. It was horrible. I am Italian and I've never eaten sauce that bad. Do you know how much we paid for this meal? Look at how much was eaten. (Dramatic gesture towards uneaten, unedible meal.)

Manager: You must have liked it. You ate some of it.

Patron's husband: Look! (More flamboyant gesticulations.) We did not pay for this.
*Two patrons stomp off into the sunset*

They gave me THREE NAPKINS!

I kid you not.

Three napkins.

When I asked for more they obstinately refused to oblige.

You would have thought I had asked the waiter for a bundle of smuggled tanzanite that I could use to start up an Al Qaeda sleeper cell along the Metroliner Corridor.

The best part though was the fact that he had absolutely no idea why I was laughing as I left the restaurant.

I don't know.

Perhaps because you guard napkins-a seemingly plentiful resource in a place like a restaurant-more zealously than Cuba protects its sugar cane.

Weird day...
