That was a great idea for Blockade Billy Brian. I did the same thing for the Remarqued copy I am snagging

oops, they sent the slipcase instead of the traycase lol. emailed Mindy. Dern interns! :Ball Kick:

, it happens. Plus I think they are crazy busy at the moment with all the members taking advantage of all the sales of late. Both for the GP and CDCC. Then add in the troubles (Haven reference there :))with Gone Girl and 'Salem's Lot looming on the horizon. Poor intern/s walked into a shit storm :panic:

My Gone Girl came today as well and although it is somewhat tight, it isn't bad enough I am worried about it, so it evens out for me :)

I just opened my Gone Girl. It's a beautiful book. Mine is snug. With a Brodart cover it would be tight.

Gillian did a nice job of signing. It took her a while to sign the signature sheets but perhaps that's what it takes to do a beautiful job of it.

A question to the CD staff.
I bought artist edition of Salems lot and upgraded it with David Palumbo's drawing.
Later i bought matching art portfolio and also upgraded with additional artwork by David Palumbo.

Is there a way to make sure that these to artworks are different?

Just FYI, our S&S sales rep tells us the Bill Hodges Trilogy Box Set has been pushed back to the end of June or early July. We'll post when we hear more.

Also, here's a tiny little tease for those who bought the Bill Hodges Trilogy Box Set through our online store... this is a small part of the art print you'll be receiving with your shipment:

If you're a member of the CDCC who ordered a Gift Certificate with your 50% off discount code, and you did NOT receive your Gift Certificate code in your email, please reply to your order confirmation email(s) because Mindy can look up the codes for you! Every now and then the site doesn't send the second email when it sees someone has used a coupon code on a certificate, I have NO idea why. But your code was created and we just need to look it up for you. Thank you!

Since they'll be shipping at different times, we'll have to come up with something to prevent overlapping remarques, but we'll wait until everyone has their books before we email with what that system is since we're still figuring it out!

A question to the CD staff.
I bought artist edition of Salems lot and upgraded it with David Palumbo's drawing.
Later i bought matching art portfolio and also upgraded with additional artwork by David Palumbo.

Is there a way to make sure that these to artworks are different?

It seems i jave to bump that question...
I think some collectors might be interested too

Since they'll be shipping at different times, we'll have to come up with something to prevent overlapping remarques, but we'll wait until everyone has their books before we email with what that system is since we're still figuring it out!

Brian

It should be fixed now... for a while, at least! The latest "update" for the software has been really twitchy for some reason. Sorry for the problems!

Any update on Salem's Lot?

Here is the update from the end of March, a new one will go out soon:

First, ALL EDITIONS of this book have now SOLD OUT pre-publication, which is great news for our collectors!

Next, the slipcases have been shipped to our printer, so the Gift Editions are being slipcased and shrinkwrapped right now, a process that should take about 10 business days to complete. We expect to have the Gift Edition in our warehouse and shipping in April. We're waiting on the final approval of the traycase for the Numbered Artist Edition to confirm the shipping date for that edition, but the actual books are done now, so we just need the traycases to ship the orders!

That was the plan, but the files from the trade publisher were an absolutely disaster to work with, so we ended up scanning an early printing and then cleaning it up line by line. Fun stuff. I think you'll find this edition to be worth the wait, though. It's beautiful! :)

Hi Brian,

Now that the actual books for the Salem's Lot gift and artist editions are complete, are you able to share some photos of any of the remarque sheets that Glenn Chadbourne and David Palumbo have created for it?

I'm sure everyone here would love to see a sample of what stunning artwork these remarque sheets contain; and knowing Glenn and David, these remarque sheets are going to be EPIC!!! :excited: :excited:

I'm glad you like them. We're pretty happy with how they turned out. For anyone who hasn't gotten a notice yet, I'd say we're probably 75% of the way through shipping the slipcases that come with books. We should be done those on Monday, then we have the orders with just the slipcases, and then some remarques. I'd say if all goes according to plan these should all be out the door mid next week.

Regarding CD #74/75, since it does not say otherwise, is it safe to assume the Limited will be based on the total number ordered? Does this also mean that the order period may be a bit longer than usual? I really thnk I want this, but need to wait a week or so to order.

Unless you think I should not wait.

Oops, sorry, I missed this! The actual books are still at the printer, being packed for shipping. There will be 20 pallets worth of books, basically a full truck load, and we have room for about... 18 of them, I think Dan said. :) The traycases will add even more pallets to the mix, so our warehouse will be a VERY tight fit for a while. Good thing all of these are going right back out the door!

I didn't think to photograph or scan the remarques when they were at the office, but Dan or I will try to snap a few shots if we can when the books get here. Thanks!

Not my better half but my mother was asking what did I order from Cemetery Dance? She had no idea what the company was and to be honest, I didn't know what the book was either until I opened it. Ordering way in advance is always nice. It's like Christmas 4-8 months later :).

Intentional in the sense that when the case was designed we had only seen the cover of the book and not the actual book. Typically by the time the book is out the design process is finished already and we just need the book for sizing.

It's listed by CD as 7" x 10" which is the same as IT, but no thickness is mentioned. Looking at the photos posted on CD's site where it shows a spine comparison against the original 1st edition 'salem's I would say it is about ~20% thinner than IT.

You're gonna have a little while to wait, and I can't really give you an estimate yet. Retailers are typically handled at the end of the shipping process due to the nature of their orders. Especially in this instance as most of our retailers get copies of both editions, and right now we're only working on the gift editions.

Good thing, too, that THE SHINING is moving along much easier than 'SALEM'S LOT did... :)

Hi Brian,

Just curious, the last couple of orders I have used gift certificates. I notice that I end up paying the shipping with my credit card. Is that intentional, or should the shipping come out of the gift certificate as well.

Thanks,
Mike

From the CD website:

"Gift Certificates cannot be applied to eBay orders, items we're selling on consignment, and shipping/postage charges."

Hope I'm allowed to jump in: the gift certificates do not cover shipping, just the price of the book(s).

While on the subject of Gift Certificates, I have never used only a portion of one. I don't see a place on the site to house gift certificates under your account, or check the balances. Would I be correct in assuming it is up to the customer to keep track of their various GC numbers and balances and the only way to check them is to email Mindy?

You can check the balance of a Gift Certificate on the "My Account" page when you're logged into the store. Not sure if this link will work for you or not:

But let me know if you can't find it!

I made up a whole fancy spreadsheet anyway to keep track of the numbers, balances, what I used them on, etc. Next I think I will create a tab for outstanding orders to track outstanding orders so everything is in one place. I have orders I had forgotten all about.

I believe Jill did them directly in the book. But you won't have to wait for the book to go to her. I believe we had the remarques for the lettered editions done at the same time as for the limited editions.

I think that CD packages their books fairly well. I have a hard time recalling ever receiving a damaged book from CD. (I think it might have happened once and they immediately took care of it.) Certainly not one with so much damage.

The stress point on almost every damaged book I've ever received was on a corner. Heavy books are especially prone to corner damage. I like the bubble wrap envelope CD uses but adding a little more bubble wrap would go a long way. Packing peanuts won't prevent a crushed corner. A snugly packed bubble wrapped book won't crush as easily. Also the box, especially a larger box, can be stiffened by adding a cardboard insert.

Just curious. Was the outside of the box severely damaged? That looks like it took quite a hit. My Carrie GE arrived damaged almost in the same exact matter and on the same corner. But the outside of the box was pristine. To this day I wonder if it was shipped damaged or is it possible to take that amount of damage without damaging the box itself :orely:

The box only showed normal handling and no hint of what happened to the book. It was packed tightly and the book was still centered in the box. You're probably right about it having been shipped damaged???

.....also must mention this has been the very first time I've received a damaged book from CD----out of dozens of previous orders that ain't bad!

My one and only issue was when I had it shipped at the USPS media rate. Since then, I always used UPS without incident. With the CDCC discount, it pretty much makes shipping free. Seeing how the books come shipped to CD on pallets; I'd say the books on the corners of said pallets would be subject to the type of damage in your photograph.

There will be different colors. It all hinges on the artwork for the cover. Black was our best option for this one based on the available colors for the materials. I think, when all is said and done, the variety will look very nice on the shelf!

Put up or shut up you two! :tongue1::lol:

I know members of 'the club" can't spill state secrets but someone has to give ya a liiiittle hell for the teasing ;)

Excited to find out what you guys are referring to! Sounds rightly intriguing.....

HA! The official announcement will be out the door within the next 24 hours, so it's probably safe for me to say what is being referenced above is easily my favorite "bonus feature" we've ever gotten for a book. It's not often that you get to restore a classic, groundbreaking work to the author's original vision... (Did I say too much there?)

Also, THE SHINING will be headed to the printer in June. :)

Then it's a perfect reason to join the CDCC - you get sent the juiciest news straight to your inbox....

Forget CNN. Wolf Blitzer has nothing on the news that the CDCC can deliver! :P
