It's been a long time coming.

Sometimes they have a few copies remaining once everything is sorted out. (It helps if you are a member of the CDCC)

For anyone who is waiting on an email back from our office, give us a little time this week because a plague of some kind of spreading from staffer to staffer and everyone is experiencing at least 48 hours of downtime. In fact, the office looks something like this today:

I swear, CD keeps sucking me in! I wasn't going to buy the Doubleday books because work has slowed dramatically for me and I thought I'd save my money for other things. But I got Carrie through the SK Grab Bag, and figured I HAD to buy the matching portfolio. Then I get a killer coupon and guess what?! I can get 'Salem's Lot book and portfolio at a great price. DAMN YOU, CD!!!!!!! STOP MAKING ME BUY BOOKS!!!!!

Hey Brian - hope that you all are starting to feel a bit better. Had a quick question - just got notice that Gone Girl is shipping (cannot wait) - if we pre-ordered sharp objects - will you automatically match numbers? Or do we need to send Mindy a message once we get our copy of Gone Girl and see our number?

I think you'll be emailing Mindy down the road on this set of books for matching numbers, but I'll double-check. (You CAN, of course, email her right away if you want!)

I think they are talking about the pre order of Sharp Objects. There was a short preorder period offered to certain club members a while back. They don't officially go on pre order yet. As best I can recall. Brian can correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn't see an email notification that it was available to order although I did order Gone Girl.

The email was sent last October to those who already had GONE GIRL on preorder (not necessarily club members). The email did not mention SHARP OBJECTS in the subject line, only GONE. It discussed SHARP in the body of the notice.

Yep, after we showed off the first photo of the GONE GIRL slipcase, I think. We received 40 or 50 emails from collectors who didn't want to wait to get their order secured for the next book, so we sent out that note. No worries to any GONE GIRL customers who missed it, you'll have another chance after GONE GIRL is done shipping and SHARP OBJECTS is deeper in production!

I'm trying to put together a list of slipcases that CD has made for SK trade editions from other publishers (not the ones they make for their own publications) past, present, and yet to come for 1. So I can try and track down any I'm missing and 2. So I'll have it available should forum members (new or old) who inquire about one. Here's what I have so far. It would be greatly appreciated if you guys could fill in any gaps for me. Thanks!

Not in any particular order:
Doctor Sleep US
Doctor Sleep UK
Mr. Mercedes
Finders Keepers
End of Watch
Revival
Duma Key
The Bazaar of Bad Dreams
The Talisman/Black House Scribner Editions
Joyland (Yellow)
One forthcoming per poll yet to be announced

Anyone else having trouble trying to select the 6-magazine subscription? It keeps telling me "unable to calculate shipping costs" with a note reading "No valid shipping methods are available for your order. You will be contacted regarding shipping when your order is processed." However, when I try to submit the order, it won't go through and keeps flagging "Shipping Method" in red text.

It seems to be working (orders are coming in with it selected), so maybe it's a glitch. Could you PM me and let me know how you're trying to pay? PayPal vs credit card? Maybe it's something with one of those options. Thanks!

Brian

Thanks for the info Brian .

Do you think it will take less than 2 years this time ? :excited:

Depends on how long the author takes to sign the signature sheets. I hope so. :)

My slipcase for gone girl is awful tight! Any body else having a similar problem?
Mine arrived today. The slipcase seems reasonably tight, but not too much so.

My copy of Gone Girl arrived last night. I am pleased with the quality. I like the binding that was done for this book. It's nice that every book from a publisher doesn't have to be a cookie cutter of each other. My slipcase seems perfectly fine.

I thought that Flynn's signature looked fancy. She must have spent a lot of time on these rather than scribbling through a bunch of pages to get them done. I was also put off at first about how much of the text is vertical, including the limitations page, but it quickly grew on me and a think it's a nice touch.

I was hesitant to continue with the series, but I think I will keep going even though it doesn't really meet my collecting goals.

Hey guys. I'd say maybe only a quarter of these have shipped. Books like this take a lot of time, with the numbering / slipcaseing / inspection process. Also we where pretty much shut down on Thursday and Friday last week given almost the entire office had the flu. I would suspect that we probably won't be done shipping these until next week.

I do have to wiggle mine a little, the slipcase I mean, to get the book out of it.

EDIT: I should also say that I love the design, the binding, materials used and everything else about the book, it's a beauty!

I didn't use my code for the free gift as shipping over seas is still a consideration. So if anyone is interested in any of the books still available, I'm happy to order and have it sent straight to you. You just cover what ever small shipping fee there is to you in the US.

First to PM me their request and address will get it. I'm off to sleep now so won't be able to check and come back to you for eight hours or so. Code is valid until 10th which is today my time but I'm hoping it will still be valid when I wake.

Just ordered Salem's Lot Deluxe edition...any updates on when it will be put out?

Here's today's update that is going out to everyone who preordered since you might not receive it if your order isn't processed at the office before we hit send:

There was a delay at the printer, so we’re still waiting on the first finished copy of the book to confirm the slipcase fits properly, but they’ve promised we’ll see that book next week. Once we have that first book, and we approve the fit, our slipcase maker will finish assembling the cases and then ship them to our printer, who will begin the slipcasing and shrinkwrapping process.

In the meantime, we received the “binding approval” for the Lettered Artist Edition, which we thought you might like to see. Here is a quick photo we took:

If you're talking about contacting Grant, that type of delay is not unusual. Robert is handling everything by himself, and it often takes him a while to respond.

As noted above, our office was closed for a couple of days due to illness. We have a staff of five and only two receive the customer emails. Mindy handles the bulk of those and she receives between 100 and 200 messages per day. So when she's out sick for two days, that means she comes back to 200 to 400 emails from the days she was out plus the new emails for that day. It takes a while to catch up.

Ha, no worries. Your post is probably the least harsh thing that has ever been said here. ;)

We've been meaning to do more of the Glenn Chadbourne pieces in that print series, I think he did Carrie and then 'Salem's Lot for us to get it started, but he's been busy with so many other projects lately!

I'd agree, Siep. Those would be the pick of the litter for me and you know they will be absolutely gorgeous editions. My dilemma will be The Stand. I'll want to keep my matched numbered copy but man I'd love a lettered as it's my all time favorite book and would probably be a crown jewel, if not THE crown jewel, in my collection.

I would think both are be possible.
I'd stick with CD though and ask for the same number.
Or maybe check with Bill (SubPress) first if ordering from CD would get you the number you're after.

Welcome to the board. Don't worry about getting up to speed. Look around and feel free to ask questions. You'll be acclimated in no time.

Yep, everyone gets up to speed pretty quickly. I didn't realize you were brand new or I would have started with welcome! :)

Hey Dan!

They're already in the books, and those copies will ship at essentially the same time as the other copies. (I say essentially because it IS a different "edition" in our order management system for tracking purposes, and the orders for each edition of the book get filled in whatever order Dan in the warehouse determines makes the most sense for the shipping logistics!)

I emailed our traycase maker for an update on the Numbered Artist Edition traycase. The Lettered case will be about 90 days out. We need the finished books to make sure it's sized just right due to the spine hubs, so they're preparing everything else in the meantime.

Some of the GONE GIRL books and cases aren't fitting together quite right. Some are "tight" but okay and some are "crazy tight holy cow my slipcase ate my book and won't give it back!"

We're working with our slipcase maker to tweak the remaining cases we have and it will hopefully do the trick for those with case tightness issues.

If your Gone Girl slipcase is too tight, but your book is fine, please email Mindy at order@cemeterydance.com with a message along these lines:

"My Gone Girl slipcase is too tight, please send me a replacement per Brian's message." Including your mailing address would be helpful. :)

Mindy will get you entered into our system for a replacement copy, which Dan will send to you with a return label for the bad case.

If your Gone Girl slipcase is too tight and your book is showing any issues or damage, please email Mindy at order@cemeterydance.com with a message along these lines:

"My Gone Girl slipcase is too tight AND my book has problems, please send me a replacement book and case per Brian's message. My book number is ____."

Including your mailing address would be helpful. :) And PLEASE make sure you include your number. Mindy will get you entered into our system for a replacement BOOK AND CASE of the same number, which Dan will send to you with a return label for the bad book and case.

Thanks!

Brian

That's the best response to a problem that I've ever seen from a publisher. Hopefully people are appreciative and if their book is replaced, they have the integrity to promptly return the damaged one.

I completely agree! I'm curious though... How many books are typically set aside to address these types of issues.

Something else I'd love to see-if at all possible: the AE and lettered tray cases.
We saw the gift slipcase, but..well.....please, Brian??

sk

I emailed our traycase maker for an update on the Numbered Artist Edition traycase. The Lettered case will be about 90 days out. We need the finished books to make sure it's sized just right due to the spine hubs, so they're preparing everything else in the meantime.

Brian

Thanks, Brian, for your quick response!

I missed out on Gone Girl, but just wanted to chime in with a kudos to CD for how they handled that issue. Super impressed with how it's being handled.

Oooohh....
Why didn't they used the blue letters for both editions?!! They are so beautiful!

I have to say Brian in my opinion from the pics I've seen this 'Salam's Lot is the best book CD has ever produced. The lettered binding is incredible and the Artist edition looks killer. Kudos!, can't wait to get mine.

Any pics of what the portfolio will be like and what/how the Palumbo drawing will be presented?

Not yet. :) I've been mostly focused on getting all of the moving pieces of 'Salem's Lot to click together because this book has fought me pretty hard at several steps along the way! But the Portfolio is on my list. :)

It really is something... LOVED the look of the Artist a lot. Glad I have it. Be tough to beat IT though for me... but this is a STRONG 2nd though:)

Saw there are less than 50 copies left of the gift edition. I succumbed to the pressure and picked one up. All three editions are beautiful and unique enough to warrant having multiple editions. Great job.

Looks like I was too late on the art portfolios though. Probably going to kick myself for not getting them. Haha

Brian / CD, these books look just beautiful. The design and colour, the cover artwork (esp the artist edition), font, the whole thing - you should be proud guys. This is what book collecting is all about.

You went for the lettereds? NICE!

If you mean me, Kris, no lol. I'm in for the matching numbered AE/portfolio crowd. I was just saying how great the lettereds will be. Much like Siep; I too will probably regret not going that route. But the AEs are a thing of beauty all onto themselves :)

Hi Brian, Dan

I tried to order something that expires today, but when I tried to check out it give an Error "unable to calculate shipping costs". I will send an email to Mindy today about it. You can probably guess what I am ordering.

Thanks,
Mike

EDIT: just noticed the email said to email Brian if there were problems, so sent you an email at your work address.

Yep, there's a problem that we're trying to figure out. Spent about 4 frustrating hours on it this afternoon and had to call in our outside tech person. We'll get it fixed and send a new note to the CDCC with a new deadline as soon as we can!

Well, after a very frustrating day of swearing at the website to make it work (which didn't work), it was a very nice surprise to receive a new full color piece from Glenn Chadbourne for a little surprise project he and I are working on. I thought you might like to see it, too. This is a quick scan, not the final high resolution scan with color correction, but I think you'll see why I'm really excited about this project:

Brian, I've been working with computers for decades and discovered one thing--you HAVE to think nice thoughts at them, or else they'll get mad and stop working. They're very touchy.

Sure, it'll be a Limited Edition (from another press, but they haven't announced it formally yet so I'll shut my yapper) and it'll probably have 20 or 21 stories, written between 2002 and 2016. Vincent Chong will be doing the cover artwork. Not sure about interior artwork yet. Working title is WALKING WITH GHOSTS.

Thanks for asking!
