In this thread I'll share with you photos of the books I own. Most will have been written by Stephen King, but others will not.

I'm going to post whatever book I found interesting at the time I had a camera in hand, even if it's just my lousy cellphone camera.

"Bookcase" photos will make an appearance sooner or later.

This thread is the only cohesive record of my collection.

Hope you enjoy. :)

Here's a fairly recent one. It's the signed/limited SECRETARY OF DREAMS produced by Cemetary Dance and illustrated by Glenn Chadbourne.

The limitation page signed by the author and the artist. As you can see, I have copy #307 of 750.

And finally a random page to give a feel for the book:

Here is the S/L of The Regulators - another one of my favorite presentations due to the creativity of the designers.

The toy box case:

The book sitting inside the box:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Regulators3.jpg

Because this was a Richard Bachman book and the deceased author could not posthumously sign a new limited edition, the signature is on an old check attached inside the book. The check number is the number of the book. Every book has a different check made out to a different recipient - typically to people that a Constant Reader will recognize.

Mine contains check #314 made out to Cooder's Market as payment for Duracell batteries.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Regulators4.jpg

As you can see, my cellphone camera won't be winning me any photography awards.

Here are the books that brought us all here to the website.

That's a 1st/1st of The Gunslinger revised edition on the far left - not signed and not expensive.
Followed by a 1st/1st of the original Grant edition of The Gunslinger - unsigned, but not cheap.
Then come the S/Ls of DotT, Wastelands, W&G - all with a matching number below 500.
And the S/L of WotC, SoS and DT - all with another matching number below 500.
The other DTVII is an Artist Edition copy.
Upfront are the five issues of F&SF in which the serialized original version of The Gunslinger appeared.

Obviously there are a few other books sharing the space as well - including the wee black and orange-red W&G chapbook up top.

Here are my other DT books. DotT is a 1st Edition/1st or 2nd Printing - I forget

Then two copies of each Artist Edition of the last three books.

I don't know how I ended up with three copies of the trade edition of The Illustrated Salem's Lot (two pictured).

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-061107-5.jpg

I've got some paperback reading copies elsewhere, but you get the idea.

Here are the books I've posted so far tonight (along with some other books), as seen on one of my bookshelves.

On the top shelf, all books are signed by the various authors and some by artists as well. Most are Signed/Limiteds.
The books to the right (your right) of the tall Odd Thomas trilogy are all signed by Stephen King except the Talisman/BH gift set.

I received these in the mail just the other day.

As you can see, this is the hardcover signed/limited Subterranean Magazine #6. It is accompanied by a softcover signed/limited chapbook of Joe Hill's wonderful short story, "Pop Art."

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-SubMag6-1.jpg

Inside the rather plain hardcover is the glossy cover of the magazine itself.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-SubMag6-2.jpg

Here are the matching number signature pages (#5). The sig page of the chapbook is in the back, so I covered the last page of the story in this photo. Wouldn't want to ruin the ending for you.

Speaking of Subterranean Magazine, here is the S/L of issue #2 with a story by Joe Hill:

He was not yet famous so his name does not appear on the front cover of the magazine:

While I'm on the subject of magazines, I'll post a few more.

Like the Subterranean Magazine limiteds, the Postscripts Magazine S/Ls also come in a somewhat plain hardcover with the glossy magazine cover just inside.

Here is the signed/limited Postscripts issue #3. Next to it is the unsigned soft cover.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-PSMag3-1.jpg

Here are the signature pages in the S/L #148.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-PSMag3-2.jpg

Note that Joe Hill appears in this issue. His sig is on the second page. Again, he was not yet famous and his name did not appear on the magazine cover.

Here is the softcover of Postscripts Magazine issue #5. I don't have the S/L but somehow I managed to end up with two copies of this edition - one purchased from the publisher, one from another publisher that also sells PS Publishing products. Accidental double purchases happen from time to time when you pre-purchase things in advance as occasionally you forget what you've already got on order. Or maybe that's just me.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-PSMag5-1.jpg

While not the S/L edition, these are both signed by two of the authors whose stories appear in the issue. One of them is Joe Hill.

I'm posting both "sig pages", really the Table of Contents page to show how Joe's signature can vary slightly. As these are both from reputable publishing houses, I know they are both authentic.

Here is the latest Postscripts Magazine that was much anticipated. It is issue #10. It is a special edition, much larger than typical issues, and stories appear from both Stephen King and his son Joe Hill.

This is the unsigned hardcover and the S/L in its gold slipcase.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SKHill-PSMag10-1.jpg

Here are both books (identical from the outside) and the spine of the slipcase.

The first signature page of copy #14.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SKHill-PSMag10-3.jpg

There are four more sig pages (five total) from Postscripts #10. Here is the only one most people here would be interested in. Both Stephen King and Joe Hill signed the same page.

Back to Stephen King books now.

Here is the unsigned limited gift edition of one of my favorite books, THE TALISMAN.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-TalismanGift-1.jpg

The first book (on the right in the photo below) is much thicker than the second book. The gold print on the covers and spine looks a lot better in person.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-TalismanGift-2.jpg

Here is a nice art piece inside the book. It is pretty well-known as it is also on the covers of the signed/limited edition.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-TalismanGift-3.jpg

This is another painting in the book. I wish I could have opened it further to get a better photo, but like most collectors, I don't crack the spine on collectible books.

I'm honored that you would actually place my opinion high enough to shell out money based upon it. Thanks.

I was going to ask what the book is, but then I saw you started your own thread and answered the question there. Enjoy the book, let me know what you think.

We lost our digital camera a month ago, but we bought a new one. So I took some more book photos...

This is the Whitney Museum edition of MY PRETTY PONY. It's somewhat limited, but neither signed nor numbered.

Barbara Kruger designed this edition for the Whitney, that's why she's named on the spine.

Here is the gift edition of 'SALEM'S LOT. To build a complete "set", this actually took three separate purchases of three separate pieces, of which the limited edition book was the most numerous.

While thinner than the S/L, the gift edition is just as big. The after-market traycase produced by The Collector for the gift edition is larger than the S/L slipcase.

S/L slipcase on the left, gift edition aftermarket traycase on the right.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-SalemsLotGift2.jpg

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-SalemsLotGift1.jpg

I bought the traycase first as I figured it would be harder to come by than the book itself (200 traycases vs. 600 books). Then I bought the set of photos that you see on the left inside the area The Collector created to hold these photos. The photos appear in the S/L, but not in the gift edition. These photo packages are scarcer (is that a word?) than the book or the traycase.

Open traycase, photos on the left, book on your right.

Upthread on this page I posted photos of the gift edition of THE TALISMAN. Here is the signed limited version of the same book.

Like the gift edition, it is split into two volumes. This version is higher quality and includes artwork on the slipcase and on the books.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Talisman-2.jpg

The Queen is pictured on the slipcase.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Talisman-3.jpg

The Queen is also pictured on the book covers. Because my book cover art was a bit scuffed (common with this edition), I purchased a pair of replacement pics to keep on the side until I ever replace the ones on the books.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Talisman-4.jpg

The signature page (in the first volume only as is standard practice). This is copy #1049.

Here is the Subterranean Press Signed/Limited edition of HEART-SHAPED BOX along with the Subterranean Press "trade" edition. Personally I think this is a beautiful dustjacket.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-HSBsub-1.jpg

I skipped the hype and bought the 2nd printings for a reasonable price. The second printing is not numbered.

More of the Subterranean Press Signed/Limited edition of HEART-SHAPED BOX along with the Subterranean Press "trade" edition.

The publishers decided to have Joe Hill sign the "unsigned" editions as well. Since the deluxe version is unnumbered, they both have the same sig page.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-HSBsub-6.jpg

So what is difference then (besides reversed cover and endpaper colors)? The extra material in the back of the deluxe edition, for example:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-HSBsub-7.jpg

and

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Hill-HSBsub-8.jpg

and some more stuff too. :)

Finally, the mass market U.S. edition of Joe Hill's HEART-SHAPED BOX:

These are both First Editions, but that's a 1st Printing on the left and a 4th printing on the right.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/PICT0041.jpg

There's that reversed colors thing again:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/PICT0043.jpg

First printing:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/PICT0045.jpg

Fourth printing:

The reason I'm bothering to post a recent mass market book is this:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/JoeHill-HSB-Patrick.jpg

Jerome and I went to see Joe Hill in Berkeley.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/JoeHill-Promo3b.jpg

Joe was gracious enough to sign a promo posterboard for each of us as well:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/JoeHill-Promo1.jpg

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/JoeHill-Promo1b.jpg

I went back a few days later and saw Joe at another bookstore in the Bay Area. :)

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/HSBSignedtoPatrick1C.jpg

Joe also flatsigned an HSB 1st printing for me and also signed the 4th printing that I bought just to support the bookstore. He inscribed the 4th printing to a DT character.

Speaking of seeing authors, Jerome and I first met when we went to see Stephen King together in San Francisco about a year ago.

I picked up another U.S. mass market book: LISEY'S STORY.

First edition/First printing:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Liseys-2.jpg

But here's what makes it special:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-Liseys-3.jpg

We paid much more than the $19 cover price for tickets, but the signed books were at cover price. I picked up two (as the receipt shows), the other is in the hands of another collector around here.

The Stanzas (Chapter Illustrations) by Darrel Anderson from SONG OF SUSANNAH are available in very limited editions. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist. The edition for each print is limited to 30 plus 5 artist's proofs.

A few years ago I purchased the Chapter 12 stanza and had it custom framed. You can't see the number or signature in these pics, but this is #15 of 30.

Here is a flatsigned pop-up book that I obtained about three years ago, THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON. The S/L of this book was way far too overpriced for me, so this one will do just fine.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-TGWLTG-PopUp1.jpg

I had one of these from the same signing, but it was at a time in my life when I only collected S/Ls and not signed trade editions and I sold it on ebay. I think I bought it for about $100 and sold it for $250 or so....but I wish I had hung on to it. Now all I have to remember it by is this picture  .

Interesting, tippy4. Yours has a line drawn under the signature, while Patrick's does not!

John

Yeah, King varies that on his signature.

I have two signed copies of Lisey's Story. One signature is underlined and one is not.

You will also notice that Patrick's was dated by King, but mine was not (but you can see the camera date-stamped it the with the same date).

Here is a picture of a newspaper article about the signing....

Why, it almost sounds like that might actually be a valid signature. Thanks!

I bought mine the day after the signing from a seller located in Bangor.

Tippy, do you have a larger copy of that article? If so, please PM or email it to me. Or a weblink to it would do nicely as well. :excited: Thanks.

My DT comic collection has rapidly grown out of hand - some nicely on the shelf, some still in bags at home, some in a bag at the office... So tonight I got everything out and organized.

Here is my King comic collection, including promo items. The two in the upper left corner are HEROES FOR HOPE and BATMAN #400. Everything else is Dark Tower comic stuff.

Promo stuff to the left, then each issue in a column moving left-to-right.
Top to bottom of each issue column: 1:75 sketch variant, 1:25 color variant, 1st printing, 2nd and 3rd printings where applicable.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Comics/DTcomicsALL-040208-1Bcomp.jpg

On the far right is the second story arc now in progress. Tomorrow I will pick up the 1:25 color variant of issue #2. I do not yet have the sketch variants for either of the first two issues, it remains undecided whether I will ever purchase them.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Comics/DTcomicsALL-040208-2comp.jpg

Today I bought a storage system at my local comic store to keep everything organized. It isn't as pretty, but it will hold many more issues than the fancy slipcase that many have purchased - and it cost less than five bucks.

Wow Patrick, that is an amazing DT comic collection. I've never seen so many.

I think you better get the sketch variants for the two new issues as well. You will regret it later if you don't.

Thanks, Mr. R.T. :)

There are some other collections around here that are as big as mine, some are bigger than (Terry, Wiz, Jerome, etc.), but they don't get shown very often.

Yeah, I figure my resolve will break down eventually and I'll probably end up getting all the sketch variants of this story arc as well someday.

Very nice, Patrick! I've been thinking about getting one of those cartons also. I just don't know where I'd put it.

I haven't gotten any of the sketch variants for the current arc either. After seeing what happened to the prices of the sketch variants for the first arc, I've decided to wait and get them later.

Yes, that's pretty much my plan as well. This was reinforced after I couldn't get the issue #7 Sketch Variant from my usual source. I had to resort to eBay with much trepidation, only to pay the low price of something like $17 including shipping. It was by far the best deal on a sketch variant out of all seven.

Today I picked up the Color Variant for TLRH issue #2 missing from the photo above. I love the art on the cover!

If you buy either of these two comics below, don't overpay, they weren't hard to find.

SK wrote the introduction to this (I paid $5 a couple months ago):

Let's see...the only things I own (of LRH) are the bookmark, the first issue, and the "Best Selling Authors" edition. I need to find the Previews magazine.

I'm not into any variants (yet) and haven't visited my local store to get Issue 2 (is that pictured above?).

Sounds like you have everything then, aside from Previews. If I come across another one, I'll pick it up for you. I think the Previews mag is already on to the next issue, so you might ask if they have the DT LRH issue in their old stock.

In the second photo of the collection, you can see the regular first printing of issue #2. The standalone photo above is the color variant of issue #2.

On with the Gaiman...

"In this gallery quality book, Bickman blurs the distinction between fantasy and life as she eavesdrops on the set of award winning author Neil Gaiman's latest project, NEVERWHERE. With a cast of outrageous characters filched from the fray of New York and London spicing the mix, Bickman defies you to determine where Gaiman's world ends and hers begins..." Aside from the subject matter, the introduction is also by Neil Gaiman.

The cover looks scratched up, but that's just the Brodart protective cover, the book is just fine. It is signed by Kelli Bickman.

Here's one that is quite different in subject matter from the others in my collection.

This book is by Bart Yasso, a past Boston Marathon winner, and a man who has participated in numerous varied running events over the decades. This book is full of entertaining stories about his experiences doing so.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Yasso-Life1.jpg

First edition, of course.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Yasso-Life2.jpg

Inscribed to me!
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Yasso-Life3.jpg

I met Bart at a race expo (where you pick up your race bib and other materials). The reference to "Big Sur 2008" in his note is the Big Sur International Marathon that I was to run that weekend. The BSIM is a hell of a course, preceded by plenty of trepidation, so this book inscribed on the eve of that event means a lot to me.

I consider my artist-signed 1st Edition of DOT posted upthread to be closest we'll ever get to an Artist Edition of that book, since Grant did not produce AE's in those days.

Here is an official Artist Edition by Grant. It is Dark Tower V: WOLVES OF THE CALLA.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT5AE-1.jpg

Although AE's are signed and limited, they are not individually numbered. Illustrator is Bernie Wrightson.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT5AE-2.jpg

The book itself. Black, blank covers, except for the spine which looks great.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT5AE-3.jpg

I have two of the AE edition of WotC and none of the Trade 1st.

For comparison, here now is the Signed/Limited of WOLVES OF THE CALLA.

Like the S/L of W&G, this book was split into two volumes with matching covers (other than volume identification), and the same artwork as the Artist Edition.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DTVSL-2.jpg

Great endpapers. This is the front. The back endpapers shows the same picture in reverse, so the subject is always looking off "away" from the book rather than "into" it.

Wrightson's artwork within the book.

Just volume one.

Excellent collection Patrick, by the way. Looking at S/L Dark Tower books never gets old!

Thanks, Ricky. Eric is correct, only the first in a multi-volume set would be signed. That bugged me way back when at first, but it makes sense to me now.

I suppose you can guess what books I'll be posting next. :)

Here is the Artist Edition of THE DARK TOWER.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7AE-2.jpg

Signed limitation page, unnumbered as usual.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7AE-4.jpg

Like the previous Artist Editions: Black book, blank covers, nice print quality/design on the spine.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7AE-3.jpg

As with WotC and SoS, I have two of the AE editions and none of the Trade 1st. (Actually in this case, I have three AEs.) No doodles in them though.

And finally, here is the Signed/Limited edition of THE DARK TOWER.

This book was split into two volumes, as were W&G and WotC (as seen upthread). I love that this time the publisher, Grant, gave the two volumes different covers. Also, this time the covers are nothing like the one used for the Artist Edition. I appreciate these changes as it makes each edition more unique.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7SL-2.jpg

The back covers are different too.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7SL-6.jpg

As you can see below, even the spine is different between the S/L and the AE, and slightly different between the two volumes in the S/L. That's the two-volume S/L on top, the AE on the bottom (in an after-market slipcase from The Collector).

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7AE-1.jpg

The endpaper artwork uses colors that are reminiscent of Whelan's endpaper illustration way back in the first Dark Tower book, THE GUNSLINGER (as seen upthread).

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7SL-3.jpg

(The light dot on his jacket is not a stain nor blemish, just a trick of the camera flash.)

This S/L matches the number of the previous two books, #290.

Everyone loves artist Michael Whelan. Here is a picture from the book that I strongly considered buying in a large, high quality print from Whelan's website. The whole father/son feel of the picture is very sweet. But I simply could not figure out how I would convince my wife that it would be alright to hang in our house a picture of a young boy smoking cigarettes when we have two young boys ourselves.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7SL-5.jpg

As with the other S/Ls, the book is white. These have symbols on the cover and spine that you'll recognize if you've read the books.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/SK-DT7SL-7.jpg

Grant really went the extra mile in creating the different editions of this final book in the Dark Tower saga - making them all different, but maintaining the continuity with the prior editions of the previous books in the series.

I doubt if any book stores regularly carry the signed numbered editions, except maybe for Betts Books in Bangor, Maine. I get most of mine over the internet, either via eBay or directly from the publishers. If you try the publishers, though, be aware that the signed limiteds from King usually sell out within a few days, or sometimes even a few hours.

Well i gotta get to work here, I have a very sub-par paperback collection lol. But lately I have been visiting a whole crap load of book stores and little mom and pop stores that sell books to see if I can dig some stuff up. This collecting stuff is getting very interesting to me.

Be VERY careful. Collecting can easily become an addiction (speaking as one who knows!)

I agree with John. Virtually all of my purchases shown in this thread have come from either: eBay; direct from the publishers; or private deals with other TDT regulars.

That said, once you know what you're looking for, you can find some good deals sometimes by hitting the mom-and-pop bookstores regularly. There are examples of just that scattered through the discussions in the Corner threads.

Note of caution: Once the collecting bug bites you, BeDaN, you're likely to become an addict like the rest of us.

Thanks for sharing. I will get into the S/Ls one day. Yep, I'm savin'!!! :excited:

Ya I've been bitten by the bug. Seeing everyone's collections I've already begun to search websites for deals and unique items. Today I visited a second hand store with about 2 6ft long bookshelves packed full of books, I was there for awhile. I found an old hard cover of Firestarter, I had to have it and it was only $.50 Woop Woop! But I could see myself getting serious about collecting.

There's been some talk in a couple threads recently about dustjacket-only purchases, and the reasons to do so (primarily so you can try to get a good book with a crappy dj for cheap, then replace the dj). Anyway, it prompted me to open something I ordered from Grant quite a while back. I'd never actually emptied the shipping tube until tonight.

Here are brand spankin' new dustjackets for:
- CHRISTINE - I hope to someday own the S/L,
- WIZARD AND GLASS - two S/L djs - one for each volume, only Volume One showing,
- THE GUNSLINGER - 3rd edition, another book I do not own

I also got out some pieces of art from SK books, primarily the Dark Tower series, but also The Talisman/Black House. I bought these three years ago in a fundraiser for a gathering of DT fans that I was unable to attend, but wanted to support.

Except for the two Gunslinger cards on the far left, all these pieces are signed by their respective artists (Ned Dameron, Michael Whelan, Phil Hale, Darrel Anderson, Rick Berry).

The artists whos work was represented in the package from Palavercon all hand signed their work.
None of it was printed on them.
This was only done for Palavercon, prints not to be found signed anywhere else.

Does that help?

Whelan said he was thinking about making that one available, but I don't think he ever did, just the Tower cover painting that Stephen King owns, The Crimson King, and the endpapers. However, he DID give out glossy paper mini prints at palvercon, (included in our packet of materials), so I have a signed paper mini print of the Callahan, The ka-tet's last moment together (my favorite illustration of all the nooks, and King's description that inspired that painting is some of the best writing I've ever read), and the one we're discussing, Roland, Jake, and Oy. i'm gonna get em all framed and hang em up, but they're a weird size, so I'll have to find frames they'll look good in.

Patrick
09-10-2008, 08:44 PM
Thanks for the additional info, Spencer. Sounds like you got a completely different set than I did (actually the above was two sets), you got some nice stuff!

I know what you mean about odd sizes of them all. Either you have to get them totally custom-framed or get standard frames but with custom-cut matting. I'd like to get some or all of mine framed, but I'd have nowhere to hang them. Maybe when my boys are a little older they'll think the slow mutants are cool and they'll want some Whelan artwork in their room.

On October 13th I went to see Art Spiegelman, a writer/illustrator who has built his career in comics, and has won the Pulitzer for his series, Maus, which tackled both his complicated relationship with his father, and the Holocaust.

Spiegelman was in town to give a talk on his life in comics and to promote his two new books, one for adults, "Breakdowns" and one for children, "Jack and the Box." We were told repeatedly that he would be signing only those two books (I think he didn't want to spend all night signing Maus for everyone).

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Spiegelman101308-Collection.jpg

He inscribed the children's book to my two sons, and the adult one to me. Despite the innocuous cover, the book is definitely for mature audiences.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/Spiegelman101308-Breakdowns1.jpg

At the beginning of his career, Mr. Spiegelman was the creative force behind the original Topp's Wacky Packages (a few sticker cards and a piece of gum in every pack). My friends and I were his target audience when those came out and they were a big part of our childhood for a few years. Rather than Pulitzer Prize winning Maus, it was his work on the Wacky Packages on which I repeatedly blew my allowance as a kid, that was the primary reason I went to see him.

Earlier this year, he released a book chronicling all the series. I bought the only two copies in the store tonight and asked him to sign them despite the stated policy. He kindly agreed, but hesitated a moment, saying, "I've never signed this book, I have to think about how to do it." One for me, one for a childhood friend.

One Friday night in October, some TDT.com members got together in Las Vegas. As already well documented on this site, we met famed artist Jae Lee who signed some things for us.

The two exteriors are standard bookjackets:

But the two interiors:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/DT-JaeInscribed2.jpghttp://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/DT-JaeInscribed3.jpg

I asked Jae to sign the title page as that is the traditional way to sign a hardcover, and that way the dust jacket would still be replaceable if something happened to it.

And, finally, the book that hooked me on Gaiman: ANANSI BOYS.

This is a first edition and, as you can see from the sticker, it's signed.

(The first thing I did after taking these photos was remove that sticker from the dustjacket. I don't like stickers on my djs, so I moved it to the receipt.)

First edition!

Great dedication - and a signature with ink the same purple color as the endpapers.

Very cool Patrick !!

I started collecting Neil Gaiman during his run on the Sandman comic series.
Took my wife to a comic convention in Atlanta and met him and had him sign a bunch of stuff for me.
He is such a great speaker, if you ever have a chance to go to one of his presentations or signings, you will not be disappointed.
She HATES my collections and thoroughly enjoyed herself, I think it's the accent.

My most recent acquisition is a signed Dave McKean art book "Squink".

One of these days I will get to posting my collection of King and Gaiman...

This new novella arrived today from PS Publishing.

GUNPOWDER by Joe Hill.

Slipcase spine.
(The front and back are all black, so I didn't bother taking a picture.)

Book in its dustjacket.
(The book itself looks pretty much just like the slipcase, so no photo.)

Limitation page of the S/L. This is #171 of the 200-count slipcased hardcovers.

First edition, of course.

Love the artwork!
I really like it too, Lisa. Unfortunately there appears to be little, if any, within the book itself.

A new addition to my humble Gaiman collection...

Neil Gaiman was the Guest of Honor at Chicago Comicon 1993.
10,000 unsigned programs were given away.
2500 signed and numbered programs were sold as a fundraiser to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

This is #2416 out of 2500.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/JHPatrick/Books/GaimanGuest1.jpg

The Guest of Honor program is basically a collection of comic artists "roasting" Neil Gaiman, thus the many people listed in the Table of Contents.

One cartoonist's contribution:

....Ok, my cellphone camera sucks. I'll replace that photo from home later, and add one of a sample page.

EDIT: Replaced some of the photos above.

I don't particularly read Dean Koontz, except for his Odd Thomas series. I've posted the first three of the S/Ls earlier in this thread, along with an signed and inscribed 1st/1st of FOREVER ODD, the second book in the series.

Today I received a signed 1st/1st of ODD THOMAS, the first in the series, from Calla Wolf.

It's in a brodart jacket protector, thus the scratchy look. (It's not on the dustjacket itself.)

Book (not dust jacket) spine:

Money shot.
