Absolutely nothing "exciting" for anybody else than me : we moved flat in march/april. Before that we were in a small flat and all my books were in the hall, on 4-5 cheap bookshelves.
Now, our flat has a corner where I could literally put more of those shelves if needed, although need to be careful with the sunlight. Plus we also have a big garage literally below our flat.

We wanted to get custom fitted bookshelves but would not financially be able to do that, so I just come back from a shop were I bought 4 more bookshelves that are classier & bigger. I'll start building them next weekend, but it's good to feel like settling more!
I'll have those bookshelves in the leaving room with my most important books. And the current cheap bookshelves will go down the garage for cheap books such as pocket books and other storage.

EXCITED at the idea of getting my books out of the boxes they've been in for the past 6 months! I will also have more space for books : in the past I did limit my books purchase because I literally had no more space. The books were ridiculously starting to piling each other on top of the bookshelves !

Congratulations!

John

This first pic is from LSOE S/L....Tom was given multiple copies and intended to Remarque them all and give to people close to him...he only did 6... letters A-F, this is Canty's Letter F:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/LSOE11.jpg

This is the Remarque Tom did in the S/L LSOE:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/LSOE21.jpg

Here is a picture of the inscribed LSOE artist edition King did for Tom +++ a note that Grant Books left in the book for Steve when he signed....Tom got a real "kick" out of this note which was supposed to be removed before he received the book....oops!

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/LSOE31.jpg

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/LSOE41.jpg

And here is the inscribed WTTKH AE to Tom, dated 2 weeks BEFORE publication.

I have to upload pics of the NEW BOOK and will post them shortly.

Here is a NEW BOOK about Stephen King I believe to be published on October 6th! It is an updated Stephen King Companion authored by George Beahm and Michael Whelan. This is a very early proof copy I got back in July (fraught with many errors) an separate Michael Whelan portfolio (which I am told will be incorporated into the book).

What makes this book special to me is that I AM IN IT!! George/Michael used my Father Callahan image (done by Michael) in the book and there is a separate interview with me that is near the end of the book! My 15 minutes of fame....I am in a book about Stephen King and my Callahan image will be there as well. Here are some pictures....

I will be getting 30 copies that George has promised to "make special" in some way...I will be posting images and taking pre-orders at Betts for this book soon. Retail price is going to be about $25 and I would be grateful if you might order a copy through me rather than buy it on Amazon or somewhere like that. It won't BREAK your bank.

More Tom Canty.......more than a year ago, I asked Tom if he would sketch in my "Lettered" Talisman and he said he would be happy to do it. I specifically wanted him to do a remarque of the Queen that is depicted on the slipcase and the covers of both volumes.....He did a VERY nice job + did a lot of other random sketching in both volumes...I am providing a sample of his work.....It took him a VERY long time to complete this for me....to the point I was worried that he had lost my book, but I got it back in the end and am very happy with what I received.

Wow! That is a beautifully remarqued copy of the book. From the detail I can see, it is WELL worth the wait. This is another of those editions that I just recently saw for the first time in real life and I'm really hoping to add it to my collection in the next couple years.

Last one on Ebay went for over a grand... it was shrink wrapped but that has NO extra value IMO. Anyone can get books shrink wrapped... So... I do not know. I can tell you this though, I would NEVER pay the money for a Mercedes that some are. Never.

God I love that artwork Ben. I love the Marsten House the best :).
And love the Shining remarque too.
As for the car saga. My mother drove many cars and said her Mercedes was by far the best drive she ever had. My father was warned by multiple people to never buy a BMW. He owned 2. One was in the shop too much. The other had an oil leak. It went in the shop over 8 times. They replaced the engine.....and it still leaked! So, Mercedes all day.

I've just recieved a proof copy of the next book by Bernard Werber, a french author that is my second favorite author after King. He writes some kind of philosophy-fiction.

His new book will be released at the end of the month :

THE SIXTH SLEEP
Imagine that you could go back, 20 years in time, and find, in your dreams, the younger self. Imagine that you have the ability, still through your dreams, to speak to him. What would you say?

http://club-stephenking.fr/img/collection-herbertwest/BW/le-sixieme-sommeil---proof.jpg

The same publisher will release at the same date the french version of REVIVAL by King, but I didnt hear yet about any proof... :-(

Well, it is still a Schrödinger's Box at the moment, as it didn't come in on the day expected! <Throws Tantrum>. I wouldn't have the nerve to string out the game longer than a single post unlike some versions I've seen. I'll have some others to put up though, once I figure out an efficient way to work with the Gallery here. I'm having a hard time figuring out uploading multiple pics, and how to open a Collection Gallery, if that is possible. PM me if you can give me any pointers on this.

I'll take it along with me if I can make it to any End Of Watch signings.... if I can avoid the temptation to take the stereotype of taking the original The Stand. I finally have a 1st, but it isn't signed. You're right though. Blaze would be MUCH rarer.

Okay, here's the one that I was already going on about. $12.00 at probably one of the last of the independent bookstores in the city. Not a very large selection of SK though. I was rather surprised that they only had about 8-9 books total.

I'm kind of excited about just rebuilding my main collection of 1sts, so every gap that I can fill cheaply with a decent quality book (and even get a placeholder for in some situations while I wait for the rarer 1st to make it's appearance) is a lot of fun. Nice work on the slipcase. I've always liked that one.

My COTW has a mylar cover on it which is why it's in such good shape (that and being kept out of the sun helps!), but I hope the slipcase still fits it. It should, since it's cut the exact same length as the book, but I don't know about the thickness.

I need to take pics of my library now, what with the addition of my completed Christine model kit in display case.

I got this from Betts yesterday. It had been listed for a while but there was no picture. It just said inscribed to Burt and Virginia Hatlen and it didn't really catch my attention. With the recent round of price cuts David added a picture of the proof with the inscription and I decided I really wanted it after all. Inscribed a couple of months prior to publication to his old English teacher with a nod to The Canterbury Tales.

Last year, when i get back from Vincent Chong a big stack of amazing remarqued books, a little bit later Vinny informed me that he found in his bookcase a copy of the DEAD ZONE with his cover illustration and he asked me if i maybe interested.
My answer was... what a surprise YES !!!!!

Stephen King DEAD ZONE
Poland softcover signed and remarqued from VINCENT CHONG
http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/742/medium/PICT3426.JPG

We talked about a remarque, my idea was the suicide scene with the scissors, i was really surprised how great Vinny could transpose this scene in a drawing in a smaler paperback.
Later i asked Vinny if our scisors-suicide conversation was so far his unusual conversation about a remarque... Vinnys answer... NO

Paul, the page edges are slightly tanned, which is almost inevitable I guess. But all in all, the book looks unread. The gilt lettering is ever so slightly rubbed on the front cover but is virtually perfect on the spine. I'm really happy with this one and with the Thinner as well. And the great thing is that I only paid £75 for both including shipping!

Seems so, I have had it on back order since it was announced. I had an email from Amazon to say it was delayed ( Estimated arrival date: September 29 2015 - October 08 2015) and then one week later get a notice it had shipped. It arrived today (2 days after the email.)

That's interesting. I just ordered a copy from Amazon UK and it said estimated delivery is October 21st. I wonder if it's out at the bookstores in the UK.

Congratulations Simon. I'm still waiting on my copy that I ordered in March. I was supposed to get it on the 10th of September but I keep on getting emails saying that it is delayed! Amazon probably only got limited numbers and you were one of the lucky ones.

Here's the first book out of the box that I picked up at the Post Office today! It's one I've been coveting since I first laid eyes on one earlier this summer!

Then it was Christmas in a box for me when this one came out. I wasn't quite able to keep the secret until I got it.

Here's the 2/3rds of the set put together, though the paperback will eventually find a new home.

Just added this to my artwork collection...of course it is Father Callahan so I "bit on it." It is original oil on canvas from David Palumbo to be seen in upcoming Salem's Lot CD dance book.

Excellent addition to your Callahan canon!

I believe there are additional illustrations (hence the "Illustrated Edition" in the title :) ) I'm afraid my limited is still sealed, so I cant do a direct comparison. I can post some of the illustrations from the new book if anyone is interested?

Nice acquisitions, Seth! I've always thought the S/L Desperation was an underrated book. I guess the large limitation is what keeps the prices reasonable but it is a beautiful production by Grant, a really good story by King and fantastic artwork by Maitz.

I just won this bid on eBay for a Dark Tower - Gunslinger, just curious how I did on purchasing it. I got it for $200.

It looks clean except right at the bottom which worried me a little...

The inside looks really good...

I was watching it too, but the damage to the dustjacket persuaded me to wait since I would just want to replace it.

It looks like a second edition and not a first. The boards look black rather than brown. Is that the case or just a photographic distortion of the color?

Id say that is a 2nd. Little rich considering the dust jacket IMO...

Wow! You got a copy already. Amazon is showing release in October.

I thought it was September when I ordered my 2 copies.

It is a second edition. If it was a first I would have bid at that price regardless of the dustjacket.

Yeah, it's a 2nd edition, but I figured for $200 it didn't look as bad.

Think I got had? Hopefully I can replace the cover.

Pictures don't do Desperation justice either, TAK! I didn't think that much of it either until I had one laid out in front of me. There ARE some really great prices that I've been seeing for this recently. Jump on and grab this book if you don't have it when you see them in the low-mid 200's!

As a follow up to this earlier discussion, I happened to be at a Barnes & Noble today and look what I found in the New Fiction section. Second shelf from the bottom, third book from the right. Looks like it's on the shelves prior to the publication date on Amazon. Copyright page is identical to the one Simon posted.

I predict it will be in the bargain bin next week. Why has this been released?

I guess since it is not really a new story, the releasedate isn't regulated that tight.

Thanks for the heads-up, Paul. I'll have to swing by B&N tomorrow as I have a gift certificate that will cover the price.
