Very nice indeed!!! Now if you only had one of those with a, Maitz remarque AND signed by, Mr. King!!! Ahhhh, that would be sweet!!!

It is signed by King. It's a S/L!

Oh, doh!!! Sorry, still in "HF whore" mode. I need a day or two to come down from the high!!! LOL My Bad!!!

Please pardon my stupidity here. I'm just so blown away that we actually made, and should well surpass the stated HF goal, that I was just looking for opportunities to plug "Gravy" auctions. Bad form on my part, but I hope you can all understand.

We did it, folks!!!!

None of the following have to do with King but in the last weeks I got some of the greatest acquisitions in the last years.

One of my life objectives have been finally fulfilled. On Monday I sold my apartment and on Tuesday I bought a house. It's not that big as my dream house (not even close LOL), but it's located in a nice neighborhood and has a nice garden where my daughter can play. I'll also have my own study where I'll be able to have all my collection together (and it's also a nice room to work, since part of my job is performed from home), a room for the projector to see films, and the best is that the house is ready to be expanded for a 2nd floor whenever I have the money (I ran out of savings), which might mean another room for books :D

Some modifications are going to be made on the house starting next week, so I'll move in July. In the meantime, I'll take a flight to Graz, Austria, Barcelona and Madrid (Spain) for 10 days, invited again by my company for the annual managers convention. And it's going to be the last time I'll travel as a Scout manager, since my boss confirmed me I'm being promoted to Local Operator Manager, in charge of all Spanish Speaking Countries in Latam (at this moment I'm in charge of Argentina and Uruguay). It's going to be a huge challenge (I currently have 30 people under my care and that will expand to 120+) but it has been amazing to see the company to trust in me so much. And this promotion will probably allow me to work just a little less (I'm close to become a workaholic, working near 15 hours per day from Monday to Sunday (Saturdays and Sundays I work less hours. It depends on how many matches I cover, but it's an average of 6 hours), since I also cover soccer matches and run a bookstore) since I'll stop covering matches. And it's more income, so that means something really nice: more books...and more SK events :D

Other than the crease on the front cover, it's near mint. There's no darkening of the pages, no other creases, nothing. On looking at my scan, there appears to be another crease or flaw near the spine, but that is not on the book. It looks like it's never been read.

I got a big shipment in yesterday, which I spent some time unpacking, documenting and putting Brodart covers on. These were smaller editions than I thought they would be, but they're attractive, particularly Thinner and Christine. I match on Carrie, Thinner & going forward (and a VERY low, top 10 number for whatever that is worth), but I have mismatched numbers on Pet Sematary & Christine.

Plus they came all wrapped up in this "Santa Claus" type of bag, so double-plus on the feeling of Christmas there!

As promised here are the photos of the 'Salem's Lot. It is a 2nd state. The pictures have a lot of glare, I could not seem to get them without it. The rippling on the top of the front is just from the brodart, the jacket is smooth. Other than the small tear you see at the top of the front and the chipping on the spine it is in amazing shape. Looks like someone took it, put it in a brodart and hid it from all sunlight for most of it's life.

So why did I sell the Dark Man Whelan? Here is why... the most BAD ASS picture I have ever seen of the Gunslinger we all know and love. These pics do NOT do it justice. The detail and realism Micheal Whelan uses is AMAZING.. making each painting he does come to life. This is oil on canvas is my pride and joy for sure.... Cannot wait to hang it tonight!

The oil itself is 12x16 and the frame adds about 2". The overall size then is 16x20 inches. It really stands out... he is a master at this. I love his work as much as King's.

LOL... no I am going to have to keep this one. I paid A LOT more than that. hahaha This was a piece used in the Legends S/L. I don't have it but I know some do here. I will have to get one! It's VERY cool to own a piece used in a book I have to say. Even though I have a concept oil and a working b/w which was used for Sisters... this is the actual one. Just love it!

I'll take December, it would be nice to have for my Birthday!

I was going to say it, but several beat me to it. As in when a team wins a Stanley Cup and the winning team parades it around in their hometown. I was hoping for April. I'd even encase it to go out with it like a bullet proof clear case. Parade it around, take it out drinking with me to start conversations, etc. Of course, I'd carry some form of weapon to protect it.....obviously. It would be fitting to carry a gun with the Gunslinger. Right?

Okay, MidSeptember so I can "have" it for my 45th Birthday on October 1st. Too bad possibility of damage prevents "exhibition" loans like this. Having the chance to spend some time studying in close detail what WE consider masterworks. Prints are nice, but they don't quite get the depth of the original painting (unless perhaps rendered on computer).

I can't say I'd have an easy time letting an oil original I owned, if I owned ANY, go "on tour", but I wouldn't be opposed to the IDEA of it.

I'm just yakking, I don't expect you to actually let it go, just expressing an idealism/altruism. :)

That's the Plume paperback ISBN on the back. Most rebound books from Perma-Bound or Turtleback mostly have their own ISBN.
A Perma-Bound ISBN should start with 0-605-xxxxx-x.

I felt like reading a book in French to brush up on it. I went to a French school, but have hardly used the language at all since graduation, other than to read La Nausee a few years back. And it was short and cheap so it seemed like the way to go.

Congrats, Ari. I remember searching for a long time to find a copy of that Playboy Guide to Electronic Entertainment from 1982. For some reason it was very elusive for me. You really turn up some nice things!

Thanks! I don't know why but I felt it wasn't easy to get. Nevertheless, last night another showed up at ebay.com and today was gone. Someone scored it for 20 bucks. :)

Thanks all!

Just arrived today, a preparation sketch from Bernie Wrightson for The Stand:

It may just be a quick sketch, but Bernie Wrightson has been a favourite artist of mine for years, not just for his work with King, but as illustrator and co-creator of my favourite character in comics The Swamp Thing, as well as his work in horror in general.

The damaged book was never sent to King for a signature. Therefore, it is not signed by King. The damaged book is not part of our fundraiser. It's just part of the lore.
As I understand it, Maitz is experimenting with the book (damaging it more :) )

Stay tuned, rumor has it the damaged book was recovered from the town of Desperation. Torn, battered and bruised by TAK but hidden to avoid complete destruction.

In route to Northwest Arkansas.....

Arrived safely....with a note from Don;

"When I originally painted this watercolor remarque, I left too much water in the brush and it caused the paper to buckle and ballon on the reverse side. I thought I could dampen the reverse and tape the edges, stretching the paper sightly to allow tightening and remove the buckling, I added weight to the closed book to flatten the page. I forgot to place waxed paper between the sheets of paper and the moisture was absorbed into adjoining pages, leaving the book sightly water damaged at the and around the title page. That is when I decided to give up and re did the remarque in a pristine copy from my book shelf. My wife is always looking towards a creative solution to a problem and suggested that I could approach the situation as intentional damage- a positive thing rather than have a book that is less than what it could be.

Thinking of the story and how the bad element in the book inhabited other species, I decided to go at the puckered pages with a petrified bird claw to rip the paper as TAK had gone after characters in the guise of a buzzard and golden eagle. I mixed up some red Windsor & Newton watercolors and transformed the pages to look like the claw had an effect on someone who had the book or, as if Tak had a hand in how this book appears. Please keep it safe from TAK and with the other 3.

Hey, Tim I have an idea for you. This collection of the 4 volumes should be forever known as "The 2015 Haven Fund Desperation Series". You should send the pics to, Tomas and let him immortalize them for you on his site. Just a suggestion.

Edit: Could these rate as a catalog entry of some sort? Pretty unique collection, IMHO

Unexpectedly, I recieved today a book from Moshe : an english translation of a french author that I quite like and who was on stage in Paris with King. It is, I think, his only book available in english (althoug there are better ones if you ask me).
THE CAIRO DIARY, by Maxim Chattam
(For information, the french author's name is MaximE)

If you are interested, here are more informations about the book
>>> http://us.macmillan.com/thecairodiary/maximchattam

Now, i'll only have to get it signed next time that I meet him :)

THANKS A LOT MOSHE !
