To put it bluntly... I could not wait to share this. I have 4 boxes of books sitting there.. and you know what? I don't care right now. This is a dream of mine to have a Michael Whalen original. Well this is it. And boy oh boy wow. It is his first working print or practice piece for The Man In Black. WOW.... all I can say is WOW. It is a whopping 28x18 inches!!!!!!!!!! I only have about 60% of it in the picture I snapped....I will post pictures when the framing is done. I blew almost a $1000 Canadian on the frame but this massive piece deserves it... pics to come when it comes back in. This was all I snapped before the frame store carefully took my baby away. The detail and it is signed to boot... WOW... WOW... WOW.... Happy Webstar right here folks!!!

Couple of months ago, after reading there is movie being prepared about GOOSEBUMPS, I also noticed RL Stine's website that he apparently likes to recieve snail mail.
So I sent a letter saying how I read all the books of the serie when I was in primary school and that it led me to enjoy horror / fantastic movies and books, and led me to Stephen King's book... which led me to create a website and met him etc. And asked if he would accept to sign a book.

I sent this

S.T. Joshi, ed.

A MOUNTAIN WALKED
Centipede Press, 2014.
First edition. This one of a limited, undetermined number of "contributor copies," marked as such on the limitation page, and numbered in Roman numerals. Signed by the editor and many of the contributors, including Caitlin R. Kiernan, Thomas Ligotti, Patrick McGrath and (many) more. This copy has been "plussed" and contains a note of provenance from the original owner. Fine in fine jacket and cloth slipcase as issued.

A gorgeous book, the usual stunning production from Centipede. I have a copy of the numbered edition on order, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to get this variant for my personal collection.

Whats better than a proof of an author that we love?
A personnalised-doodled-one !

Signed : "For Jeremy, Friendly, Bernard". The doodle represents GAIA, which is a main character of this book titled "The voice of Earth", by Bernard Werber.

http://club-stephenking.fr/img/BW/la-voix-de-la-terre--signed-proof.jpg

He always writes stories that are "quite different", dealing with ideology, science, religion and other stuff like this. And he also often doodle books that he signs, with something related to his books (ants, small genetically created small humans, trees, butterflies..)

Great Addition!

I dont think so : open the direct link to the picture, and it's shown normally... so, somehow, it's the forum that turns it.

It's the other way around. The Web site that you have linked to above has applied a web kit style to it. If you take a look at the page through a chrome developer mode, you will see that the raw image is actually the same as it is being displayed here.

Just received the F&G (Folded and Gathered) pages for Donald M. Grant's edition of Desperation.

For those who don't know, the F&G is a set of folded pages (signatures) before they are bound.

This Desperation set includes the (unfortunately) unsigned limitation page with the spaces for King's and the artist Don Maitz's signatures. All the illustrations are included.

Yesterday I attended to a french signing by Neil Gaiman.
There was about 300 people I guess, and the signing last about three hours and half.

It was a nice opportunity to meet him, speak to him a bit, and getting 3 books signed. He is nice enough to sign pretty much anything you put on front of him (one of the bookshop staff said that he would only sign 1 book + as many copies of OCEAN which is his latest book here).

So I got him to sign a copy of AMERICAN GODS, a copy of OCEAN as well as an ARC copy of SHADOW SHOW (dedicated to Ray Bradbury). When I asked him if he remembered it, he said he did and he looked at a copy (being surprised to see a prepublication copy), talked a bit about Ray Bradbury...

Two things stroke me the most :
1) I knew it, but he has such a nice / peculiar voice. It is so easily recognisable. I really love his voice. If you never heard him, I SO encourage you to listen his inspirational speech "Make good art" which he did at a university of arts a few years back. It's really a nice speech. Really moving and touching
>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikAb-NYkseI
2) Somehow, I thought that he was writing and signing quite elegantly. I know it sounds weird, but the way that someone holds a pen make it sliding on a page can be... rough or, contrarily, sort of elegant. He was the latter, taking his time to write and speak with everyone. Obviously the fact that I got him to sign 3 books also makes him spending more time, so it's better to chat a bit :)

I'll meet him again on monday for a press conference :)

Super friendly, but he was too busy (1,700+ people and 2 AM by the time the line was done) to sign much more than his name to the book. I did manage to get my first edition of Good Omens signed as well, which was cool. Congrats on the books!

I've told myself over and over that I don't collect proofs. BUT, then I saw these and bought them. Desperation and The Regulators were in the shrink wrap and Insomnia looks brand new, also. Desperation is first state with "Steven King" on the copyright page.

Great additions Dan ! Can you give more details about "then I saw these"..... :)

Just browsing around on ebay and saw them with a buy it now option. I'm not sure if I overpaid or got a good deal, but i'm happy with them.

If anyone has an estimate on their value, I would love to hear it.

Nice work Dan. I also never collected proofs, then I got one, and another one, and then all of a sudden, I was collecting proofs.

So I have a story... I thought long and hard about my favorite book of King's other than the Dark Tower and it always comes back to what got me into SK... and that was IT. I have the lettered, a couple F 1sts, the sewer grate Dolso, matching S/L and Port and the GE I wanted remarqued.... so as some know it is not an easy task to get that done by all the artists. For those of you that don't know Glen Orbik is sick and is not doing them right now but graciously agreed to hold my book until he felt better from Chemo to do it.... my thoughts and prayers are with him... That book project has been on-going for sometime and looks like it will take more time but hopefully by early next year I will be able to show you. They all did 2 page full color remarques... BUT THIS P&J is not about that... it is about a score that goes far above that.

What you see below is true.. it is done by Robert Giusti. It is his orginal cover for IT done back in the 80's. It is quite large as you can see and signed. He is almost 80 years old. He was born during the depression!!! He is not a easy man to find... an does not do this... in fact he never has... and has made it known to me he never will again. He is such a nice man, and very hard of hearing so at times I spoke to his family member... but he, at his age... still has it. I will take many more pics when it arrives later this week. He, interestingly enough, would HAVE NO part of drawling in my book for fear his paint would bleed through. It took me months to find him and weeks of teaching and showing him remarques before he turned me down... he said he wanted thousands to do it and that was that... then a week or so later... he contacted me and said he would do it... but not in the book and gave me AN AMAZING deal. He also painted it and told me I could trim it down and glue it into the book (kind of cute) and asked what the size was. I gave him the book and he did it as if it was open to cover both pages like the other artists. I would never damage this work of art. I know of no other in the world and he has never done this before. It is the pride and joy of my IT collection.

This definitely fits the category. With all the work you put in your pride must be off the charts and the art work put the joy right up there too.

Got this a while ago but hadn't gotten around to posting it yet. You can't really appreciate the size until you see it in person, really just an amazing, amazing production. I had kind of avoiding reading about it or looking at pictures of it knowing that sooner or later I'd add it to my collection, and I'm glad I waited. I didn't even know about the slide out portion which really surprised me.

My mother was over at my house shortly after I purchased it, and she's an avid (not King) reader and worked for a long time at a small bookseller. Normally she looks at my King purchases and tells me I'm a wastrel, but even she thought that this book was a bargain at the price paid.

Some truly remarkable P&Js over the past couple of days.
I just got this one yesterday; not exactly Stephen King, but closely related enough that it might be interesting to see - also posted a little about it in the Joe Hill section.
A little while back, I made a donation to the Pixel Project - a worthy cause to help prevent violence against women. Please follow the links below to read more about it - and in return, Joe Hill would create a 75 word, hand-written story and send it to me on a postcard. The 75 words turned in to 200 and the postcard became a letter, which arrived on my doorstep yesterday. I don't know that I would be allowed to post the whole story, but thought it would be fun to share a peek at it:
http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/ab21/surly_pics/story_zps36849bf9.jpg (http://s846.photobucket.com/user/surly_pics/media/story_zps36849bf9.jpg.html)

The story is called A LITTLE SORROW, and it's about a sad, lonely man that stops at an unusual little shop to see if he can buy something to ease his pain. Joe suggested he was happy with it and may put it in his next collection - if I agree. I'm pretty sure I will.
