Not really P&J, but I wanted to test uploading the photos here, instead of Photobucket, as Jerome suggested in another thread. Pretty easy!

That is what I do with the stickers also. After I put the Brodart on I place the stickers onto it. That way they are on the book but they aren't. If I ever sell it (very unlikely) the new owner can either leave them on or just change the Brodart if they wish. It is a win win for all involved.

Very nice (although that 3rd printing in the background is sad that you don't think it's a "true" Grant Gunslinger). Speaking of Grant books...

I recently acquired two copies if Phil Hale's Goad, with both of the variant Dust Jackets. I purchased one copy without a dust jacket last month and then amazingly found another copy on eBay last week that had both dust jackets. I was pretty excited:

http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag74/Robert_Fulman/4918DAB3-FB7E-4CD6-8A13-D6B957AE16FC_zpspz5shq4r.jpg

To help stay on topic, I'll point out that this book contains some of the art from second edition of Drawing of the Three. Interestingly, the titles of the paintings given in DotT are different from the ones given in Goad.

http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag74/Robert_Fulman/FFA22B6D-E783-4EC8-AE4B-01E80F8B43EF_zpsjtggmsvd.jpg

I also now know that in addition to the dust jacket variants, there are also end-paper variants, as one of my copies has red end-papers, while the other has white and has an original sketch by Phil Hale in it. Grant's website describes a Limited edition of 60 copies that are quarter-bound in leather and have a full page drawing by Phil Hale. I assume that the second copy below is one of those copies, but bound in the trade (cloth instead of leather) binding. The limited costs $450, so I'll be content with my copy for now:

I don't think there will ever be an S/L to even come close to topping the S/L of The Stand. Not even any of the Lettered editions. I just hope when CD puts theirs out that it comes close and if King does sign one that it will be THE STAND. All I know is that either way signed or unsigned I will be getting a copy.
Brian I just hope CD finds away of not letting us down.

Can't imagine CD dropping the ball on this one. I have chatted with friends at length on this and they have two Double Days to live up too... The Stand and Salems Lot. I am not sure King will sign them... I cannot imagine Brian and company not trying. I do pray for one sig to bring it all together like say.. The Green Mile... maybe the artist Port that is coming? Or the last book in the series that never got any S/L love? Either way... excited to see where this project goes. I think our first sight of Carrie will indicate the future and they do my fav all around editions so... I know it will be great!

In addition to the King signature, I would be great to have Berni Wrightson somehow associate with the Stand project. Maybe the cover or interior illustrations.

The glassine I've seen has a bit of a reflection and the photo doesn't look like it has any, thus the perception that it looks like tissue. Regardless, it's beautiful.

Unless King decided to start signing books that people send him? Highly unlikely.

Holy shinola! Very, very nice acquisition, Superfly. Definitely the holy grail for King in my mind. What made me really sit up and take note however, was the fact that it's "my" number 690, that I've had for the last half dozen or so S/L's. Not that I see myself obtaining a limited Stand anytime before I finally graduate in two years, but man, keep me in mind if you ever decide to sell. Or trade. Or whatever.

Anyway, congrats on a fabulous looking book though!

It looks like King's common "cramped" signature, particularly the "King" part. The weak droopy loop over "Stephen" is a real concern. It looks almost flat and not the normal smooth, almost parabolic (ellipse?) curve one would expect. I suggest you get several opinions before bidding.

Well I sent in a few ideas but also said that I would prefer him to write something from his own heart and mind as it didn't feel right that he would just write something that I had chosen. It felt like it would be me writing something to myself if that makes sense. I said in the ideas "All work and no play..." "You are the caretaker..." "Here's...". Asked for him to use my name, sign and date and told him a little about myself and what I had done in the past to remind him who I am from when he got the CR sculpture and we did the book tour on .net etc. I don't know how much of the information filtered through to him but he clearly took the "You are the caretaker" and made sure to put my name in as well as sign and date. The "Here's..." is not in the book but in the film so would have been a bit wrong and was the silly/amusing option I suppose. In some respects it seemed fitting that he would write something chilling and I think that's what I got.

To be honest he could have blew his nose on it or wiped his arse and wrote a personal message of any sort and I'd have been happy. As long as it was personal from him to me is all that matters.

Apologies for not being around here too much....I literally have to parse out my time to various things and I still am constantly behind. That said, badly miss this place and I wanted to come here and share some stories/artwork with you. I've acquired quite a bit or original art over the last couple of years (LOTS in 2014) and most of it has just been parked off to the side in my Betts office. Michael Whelan's wife Audrey and their jack-of-all-trades handyman "PhishBob" are whiz-bang framers so they agreed to frame my artwork (half at least is Whelan art). I had 13 pieces done and just picked them up 2 days ago. So I am sharing pictures of these and a couple more I already had them frame earlier.

I did what I could in taking pictures...the time of day was bad and I did my best to reduce glare, but a couple shots you can clearly see me and my camera....such is life.

On to the show:

This 1st one is a Ned Dameron original...I own the remarqued book with the same scene (book cover) but he did this in a different color scheme:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW1.jpg

Another Dameron original (I've owned this piece awhile):

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW21.jpg

This is an Erin Wells original from Doctor Sleep:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW3.jpg

This is one of my favorite NEW pieces....Michael owed me for something, so I got this piece and a few others:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW5.jpg

A closer view:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW6.jpg

This piece....last time I was at the Whelan's and we were just sitting around talking, Michael "doodled" this out for me in about 15 minutes!

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW7.jpg

A closer look:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW8.jpg

This was a Whelan original that I bought from a guy that Michael did at an art show...it reminded me a little of the Dark Tower with Roland at the top...

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9.jpg

This Whelan piece is a pencil sketch of Charlie from Firestarter....

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9b.jpg

OK THAT'S ABOUT HALF THE SHOW....am getting bugged to go make dinner for the family....I'll post the rest later.

By now you all probably know that, Rachel Readman won the HF Grand Prize this year. I have been an advocate of her for some time now, but it seems fitting that NOW may be the time for folks to take notice. I posted the following in her thread and I am imploring you all to take notice and action.

You all realize that collectively we just might make a difference for, Rachel. If each of us emailed, Mr. Freeman about utilizing her skills on an upcoming project he may just do so to spare himself!!! I'm already in, he's heard my opinion several times however, anyone else willing to take a stand and change the current thought? Let's rally around this wonderful, Lady!!!!

Post when you have emailed, Brian so we can get a count.

Continuing on...

I bought 2 Mark Geyer originals from the new PS Publishing issue of Pet Sematary....this is Louis

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9c.jpg

The detail is really awesome (this is a little blurry sorry)

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9d.jpg

and Church the cat...

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9f.jpg

Jill Bauman's original oil painting of Tess for Big Driver in Full Dark No Stars

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9g.jpg

Since Michael Whelan cast me as Father Callahan in his updated Dark Tower characters he did at Steve's request...and Ned Dameron painted me as Callahan as well....I asked friend Glen Chadbourne to do me as Callahan as well...this is his original rendition...he's really got the mad scientist hair going....I rather like it.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9h.jpg

This painting I've had for 5+ years and never framed it....it was a collaborative painting that Michael Whelan started and was then finished by another artist at an art expo. I bought it off eBay cause it has Whelan's trademark signature. I took it to Michael years ago and he asked me if he could borrow it for 2 weeks as he wanted to completely redo the piece to what his mind's eye originally held, so he used this piece as his morning "warm up" for a couple weeks...I finally got it framed.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9i.jpg

ok, these next two pics don't do the piece justice, but this is original Whelan from Little Sisters of Eluria

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9j.jpg

a closer look...blast it's a bit blurry

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9k.jpg

I pulled this pic from here...unframed version

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/Roland_Doctors.jpg

This one (Firestarter Whelan cover art) is only a signed numbered print, though you hardly ever see these for sale anymore. I snagged this one in a trade recently having never bought one before.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9l.jpg

I will close the show with a piece (not new to my collection) that I bought maybe 2 years ago...Whelan original oil of Roland...image used in Little Sisters of Eluria

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/MW9m.jpg

I am truly blessed to own such artwork and it makes me almost as happy as parts of my book collection....Dark Tower has always been my "thing" and Michael Whelan has been artist now for 3 parts of the series. I adore his talent and I do have several other original pieces floating around in other threads here....I will add a "P.S." image then of my greatest artwork Pride and Joy....Michael's rendition of me as the updated Father Callahan which appears on King's website game "Discordia." It's my 15 minutes of spotlight fame.

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/519/medium/Callahan_framed.jpg

I go on and on like a broken record.....since I mentioned it, here is Ned Dameron's take of me as Callahan...

Fortunately, I look absolutely nothing like that, ahem, gentleman, more importantly I have been lucky to be married to my soul mate and a lovely woman for 34+ years. She likes the goods, and lordy, so do I. She is the most wonderful person on the face of the earth. My wife is a dedicated, nurse and one of the best in the business. Her capacity for empathy knows no bounds. She puts up with me, right? LOL

Sorry to hear that you are now in pain.

@Randall : if it's indoor cycling, it wont be much useful, but just in case.
I use an iphone App called "Moves". It is very useful and powerful : it automatically detects how you move (transport, cycling, walking etc), and give you details about the duration, the distance, the kcal burnt etc. It also does the same with other sports (ie : squash, tennis, football, whatever) and you can log what activity you do.
It's really great because it does the job automatically and then you can edit some informations on your phone.
A proof of how great it is : facebook bought them about 2 months ago. And since they changed the privacy policy for, basically saying, that they can sell those informations. But.... oh well, it's very handy (at some point i considered buying a bracelet like UP, by jawbone)

If you come by my house, I'll let you hold the big one....Twistednadine did.

Lol how did twistednadine feel after RF?
Tired. The book is rather large.

Received my Knowing Darkness with bonus prints. Just a gorgeous book. 14.1 pounds.

Me too! Thanks for posting the link.

When the book came I took it from the mailman and set it on top of the trash barrel (lid) while retrieving the rest of my mail from the mailbox. The barrel was at the edge of the curb and the weight of the box started to tip it over. I caught the box just in time before it hit the ground! Yikes! :panic:

The thing if freakin' huge! It's an awesome production. I really like the full set of prints too!
