Thank you so much, guys. I love having people in my life who share my excitement over this sort of stuff!

George, let's review:
- Great King story,
- Cool Whelan dustjacket art,
- Fairly low limitation,
- SK's first limited edition.

Conclusion: GO FOR IT!

I couldn't agree more ... the only limitation is $$$. Between The Stand, Dr Sleep, bookshelves, and other purchases, I'm in no financial shape to be dishing out for a Firestarter S/L. I will be again though, just need to be patient. I will update my want list though, just so I don't forget!

Two new sig sheets to add to my little collection of loose sheets. The sheets are nice and clean, the defects you see are from the plastic covers they are in.
Hoping to add a couple more soon.

Postscripts 10 From Tippy4 (damn you pack a mean box Tippy). Pics tomorrow but I gotta say I like this edition. Not the most glamorous of S/Ls but I kinda like that - it seems fitting for this edition. Of note this copy has no slipcase, but has the ribbon and is signed by all. It is stamped "PS Publishing File Copy" so it appears to be a PC of the 1of200 version. Im loving it - unique. Thanks Tippy

First of all it's a later printing of THE SHINING. Code S3 on last gutter page, price of $8.95. So...if we follow some of the older printing//publisher trends with Doubleday...that would make this...um...???? LOL...still dont' know.

Well, there is no "That pretty good deal" thread, so I'll put this here. Bought for $20 shipped; even with a library stamp (which I assume is there), this DTII special reading copy is an improvement over my current copy. In all honesty, the awesomeness of this deal is based primarily on the fact that I love to sift through auctions just looking for pictures of things that sellers don't recognize as "special":

Ok Folks...Two new P&Js (not peanut butter & jelly sammies).

#1: I successfully traded Lettered Regulators with Mike and I now am the owner of Letter "JJ" check made out to Betts Bookstore!! Woo-Hoo!
#2: I recently purchase a Moth...signed by Stephen King in 3 different places (at each of his poems), also signed by Michael Alpert and Tabitha King. Never seen another multiple signed copy, certainly not one signed by King 3x.

Guess I'll have to put up the $10, but I'll say "Lara Croft"? I know that ain't right though.

Though they are "mesmerizing" they pale in comparison to seeing yours. in person!!!

It probably means something that Bill doesn't know the answer; perhaps he's not really meant to be the HF Whore, perhaps its destined for someone else? It's almost like fate, or serendipity if you believe in that sort of thing ... this could be a sign. The answer's probably in a book somewhere.

Interesting! I didn't know that.

Gotta grab a copy at Amazon.

I've watched this version the day of my birthday, so a week before the release... and the copy was i could notice that the movies were a bit slow and not finished ;-)

Not such a great deal. The last one of these, with a bevelled slipcase, sold for $125 at Betts. [£81.88]

Hi, i bought the book and it was a deal, BECAUSE i had no high shipping costs from US to Germany, just minimal costs from UK to Germany AND i had not to pay tax at the customs... so yes... i made a small (big) deal :coo3l:

You "create a want." You fill in the want parameters like author, title, publisher, etc. Just like doing a search but you are creating a "want." When books matching your want parameters are listed you get an e-mail notification.

I'm not sure how quickly the notification is sent. I've clicked on books almost immediately after I've gotten the notification only to find them already sold. Maybe they are sent out once a day like eBay wants are sent.

It's been very helpful for me too. But as I mentioned earlier I don't think you get e-mail notification immediately after a book is listed. I think they may get sent out to you once a day or something. There is still no substitute for manual frequent searches. Sometimes the book will be already sold by the time you get e-mail notification.

Much appreciation to a member here who helped me acquire these. They are approximately 9x6 stand alone original illustrations representing several King novels. My favorite is the Stand with city in the background, crows in the foreground - absolutely amazing piece that I think represents the book perfectly. The detail is exquisite on all of these. I can say in all honesty where I was not particularly fond of his work I am now a true fan.

Yes... For me I just do no like the color (Brown) of the slip case. I keep trying to link the lizard skin/elephant skin look to the story to make some sense of the choice. Personally I have many times searched the internet to come up with an idea how to create a different one when I am able to display the copy I own.

Only if you have a spare set. The older the cassette the higher chance of breaking. When I do play my cassettes I use the old pencil trick, and tighten the tapes before playing. The newer cassette players run a little faster so I purchase NOS cassette players to cut the risk of damage a little.

Ari - I'd heard vague, mainly unsubstantiated rumours on the forum from time to time that you had the Midas Touch when it comes to winning stuff - your recent post only serves to confirm that the rumours have a basis in truth (you luck, luck, lucky man!!!)

LOL. Thanks!

But as I said...it's usually one good year, one bad, one good, one bad. Years that end in a pair number are not usually good ones. So I'm balancing the bad luck I had in 2012. :P

Or so I think :D

This particular former library copy is beat, but the story is one of my favorites, and the original custom artwork is fantastic! The talented artist really outdid herself on this one. Not sure if you can read the titles on the books, but they're all King. These photos don't at all do justice to the detail.

A few months ago i bought a tape recorder that needs to be plugged to the laptop and you record via audacity then turn them to mp3. Costed about 15€, shipped from China :)
I used it on some tapes.
Unfortunately though, i dont have any material to record VHS.

I am going to say you mean VHS to DVD? If so there is one I remember reading about. http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-VC500-Touch-Capture-Device/dp/B000VM60I8 Like anything there is pro and con reviews.
